This place is pretty decent for a quick South Indian meal. Ensure to order for combos when there. The dosa's are not like what you get in the South. Dosa's should not snap but should be soft where one can tear into them. It's not a great restaurant but you have no choice.

I was at Vaango's yesterday (30 April) and this place is decent enough to offer authentic South Indian idli-dosa meal with lots more. The combos are good and have an assortment of delicacies from the land of southern India. So much so, the service is good and the ambiance is pure south indian with avatars of south indian legends eg Rajnikant (de famous actor from the South) & some other famous personalities. The taste of sambhar, masala dosa, uttapam and chutneys is really good (authentic). The preparation is also fabulous and above all, the concept devised by this restaurant to propel business is amazing - its actually a south indian fast food restaurant with American concepts of selling burgers and pies. At first glance, it appears that you are in some McDonalds restaurant but sooner you realise that its a neat south indian mallu eating place. South Indian food rocks and so does this wonderful eating hub !!!!

Must Visit :)

The food is typical South Indian fare, but the sanitized fast food ambiance lacks the feel of most similar restaurants. The portions are small, and chutneys have no variety. And the Vadas are way too oily.

On the plus side, their packaging for takeaways is very attractive and fun.

I'd recommend going here only if you are unable to go anywhere else ( naivedyam / sagar ratna )

first the pros:

Clean place. The taste is good. Have had their idli, vada, masala dosa, neer dosa, filter coffee. Neer dosa with istew is awesome. Chutneys are nice too and they allow unlimited refills. Service is good, the staff is very friendly and quick. one eg: after finishing my neer dosa, i wanted something more. as i was getting up to pay and order, one of the staff came quicly to me and asked me to remain seated. he got me my order and asked me to pay when i was done.

Cons:

The compartmentalised dishes suck big time. the compartments are too small for the chutneys and you end up ordering many refills. this is not only irritating to you, but also for the staff as almost everyone wants a refill after having a couple of morsels.
Also, its a bit overpriced in my opinion. Eg: Rs. 65 for a plate of idli is too much...

Where is the logic is trying your hand at fast food with a staple cuisine in the land of Sagar.

The crisp is missing in all things fried --> If I wanted a soggy vada I would dropped some small coin at the local H-rams or B-wala. Even their dosa has enough razz-ma-tazz.

The cafeteria plate has no appeal for a functional eater like me because when the bored server plops (yes plops) chutney into the grooves it splatters all over.

Just the largesse and the crisp at the sagars (for the same price) that keeps me going back.

And PS: fast food means fast !!
