Review of Damdama Lake

Damdama Lake
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Ideal if one travels with friends. A few camps are there which arrange for trekking, rock climbing, boating and other adventure sports. Night halts at tents amidst nature is an enthralling experience. Tents are good with attached bathrooms. the food served is great.

Went to Damdama with my cycling group. The place is in a very poor condition. Lake does not look like a lake... There is more water in our swimming pool ;)
The place is not maintained at all and infested with dogs. We stopped for a bite at the Haryana Tourism's restaurant. Everything was pathetic, right from quality of food, service etc.
Used the loo, clogged and dirty... I am not too fussy about things in life but this place was actually pathetic. Haryana Tourism should learn something from MP and Gujarat Tourism.
But why am I wastng my time - no one is listening!!!
If you have nothing to do in life, visit this place... better go for a movie!!!

It could be one of the beautiful places in Gurgaon, but when I went there, it looked bit dirty and not well maintained. People come there for picnic and throw waste materials around lying un-attended, which is a mood spoiler.

Damdama Lake is situated at a distance of about 25 kilometres from Gurgaon. There is a turn towards the left when we are about 10 km from sulpher springs situated in Sona. Surrounded by rugged hills, the lake is worth a visit because of open spaces all around and the scenic beauty. The added attraction is the hills around especially when they are ideal for practising rock-climbing. Lovers of adventure have a whale of a time trying to negotiate the vulnerable heights. Hoards of school children as well as grown ups descend on the place to have a relaxed outing. Unfortunately, the water in the lake has been consistently receding depriving the visitors of the fun of boating most of the time. Some relief is provided during the rains. There is an excellent place to stay and a very nice restaurant provided by Haryana Tourism.

I wonder how beautiful this property could have been if little care was taken to maintain it's natural beauty.

The lake is completely stagnant with hardly a few ripples that can be seen when the outdated boats start moving. There's an old, poorly maintained camel for ride. To top it all, there's nothing in the vicinity where you can eat except for a tourism restaurant where you will typically be greeted by babu attitude. The road is to this place is rough and bumpy. The only saving grace is the greenery right opposite the resort where you could take a walk to feel you haven't wasted your time by coming here.
