“Truly Exceptional Service”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

You have to bite yourself to believe that it is all real! Check-in in seemlessly easy - you don't wait, you're ushered straight to your room and you register at the comfort of your own room. The tap water in the bathroom is drinkable, wake-up call can be accommpanied by coffee or tea, and you come back to your room daily with a bucket of ice at your disposal (in summer) - all these on top of all the regular 5-star service you'd expect from a 5-star hotel! The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. It is just amazing that you can find this amidst extremely busy and polluted, pot-holed highway. The hotel organized a trip for us to see the Taj. Our car and driver were immaculate, and they even packed our breakfast to-go as we left at dawn.

A highly recommended stay!

This so much interesting to have a new experience in such an architecture! Breathtaking volumes, lights, views, arches, swimming pool, doors etc.
This hotel deserves and has probably won some architecture prize. The staff is excellent and the proximity from the airport makes it very interesting.
It changes so much from the numerous tasteless international hotels ( that I call machines for aleeping)'and that are flourishing in Gurgaon that I am sure it is, and will remain the n1 choice for those travelers, business or leisure who don't follow the crowd.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your appreciative feedback on Trip Advisor.

The hotel as you have noticed is unlike any other city hotel and is characterised by domes, arches, reflection pools, fire torches and green gardens.

Moreover its locational proximity to the airport and the offices in Gurgaon makes it the most preferred location for travellers.

Your positive words have been shared with the team.

The team and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not so distant future.

Warm regards

Shah Rukh is rarely confused but this hotel has him licking for a solution.

This is a gorgeous property, an oasis in the corporate wasteland and arid dump that Gurgaon has become. Walking into this hotel at night is truly an inspiring sight, with the flames glowing in the midst of the large pool. The hotel is immaculate. There seems to be a person at every corner, with folded hands and the graceful Indian 'namaste'.

In terms of food, there is a decent Sushi bar (yes, in India) and the Indian restaurant is supposed to be good (according to the staff who work there). The breakfast buffet is comprehensive and well laid out. Shah Rukh, like all his brethren, loves bacon and this needs improvement. He has never figured out why the bacon in India is so bad. Finally, the bar is a pleasant place to relax with nice ambiance; i.e., it doesn't contain the gaudy amounts of marble that is typical of many 5-star Indian hotels.

So, what's wrong with this place? Rigidity!!! It used to be the case for the last ten years that Shah Rukh has been staying here that the staff went out of their way to cater to the guest. This hotel was the pure definition of hedonism. Every wish was their command. But on his last visit, there were suddenly new rules. Rules?!? The food menu at the very nice bar suddenly became limited to sandwiches only, and no matter how much of his gentle persuasion was dished out, the sushi or other delectable items available in its restaurants had to be eaten at the relevant loci. Well, after a "heated" discussion with the restaurant manager, Shah Rukh was able to get what he wanted, but still with some restrictions. This was not fun after a long day of traveling, being clearly exhausted, and having to stress out by arguing with a woman (Shah Rukh does not like to argue with women).

So, the bottom line is this - Shah Rukh has choices and there are many great hotels in Gurgaon. The management of this hotel needs to go back to its traditions of excellence in service that they became famous for in the first place. They seem to have forgotten that.

Shah Rukh says: Also look at other properties such as The Oberoi next door, Crowne Plaza, etc. The prices at the Trident are out of this world and they also need to become much more competitive in this regard.

Shah Rukh's tips: Do not even think of using their airport pickup or drop-off services. Tell them to call you a cab (300 INR) versus using their service (2,800 INR). Send a message that even if you can afford to stay at this hotel, they shouldn't treat you like a chump and rip you off whenever they can. BTW, Delhi has very nice, reliable, and safe cab services when you arrive at the airport. Just go out the terminal and everything is there!

Complimentary extra tip: Take a room on the ground floor. Trust Shah Rukh on this ...

The most noticeable feature of the Trident Gurgaon is that most of it appears to be floating on water. The hotel is surrounded by large formal ponds that are very shallow but create beautiful deep blue reflections in the night. These are enhanced by flaming braziers set at intervals. The whole effect is symmetrical and spacious - possibly rather austere for some tastes. Rooms at the Trident are pretty comfortable except for the sofa and armchair which didn't suit me. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There is a choice of restaurants and I tried two. The multi-ethnic restaurant offered a buffet of well-prepared dishes. The meal I had in the separate Indian restaurant was delicious. The staff I encountered were all totally professional - you never have to open doors for yourself when walking around the hotel. There is a large swimming pool that is heated in the winter - this is adjacent to the hotel. All the front-of-house services worked as expected - the airport pick-up and drop-off was efficient and friendly. All in all a good experience…..oh and one more thing - you get half an hour free WiFi per day - plenty for catching up with email.

Trident is a place where you can't see stars up above in the sky..not because of the winter smog, but for the fact that all stars are employed and do their best to make our stay awesome!

Noteworthy interactions have been for Rahul in housekeeping, Ankush at the Front Desk, Mayank in the Cilantro...

Ntish Gandhi is surely to be thanked for a job well done in hiring staff that believes in maintaining and exceeding customer interaction excellence!

My only suggestion would be to reconsider buffet menu... Long stay guests can easily observe the repetitions (chat, salad, desserts)
I found little variety in breakfast buffet that was appealing, the breads (danish, croissants, muffins) were a thumbs up but the overall spread was perhaps too much of a repeat, so i barely had breakfast everyday.

I have stayed there twice in the past one month and I have had an awesome experience. The property is very serene and gives you a calm feeling with its water fountain. The staff is very friendly and ready to help you. The hotel gives you a feeling of resort rather than a hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and you can focus on the business. The only downside I can think about is if you have meetings in Delhi then traveling from Gurgaon can be a daunting task given the traffic situation in Delhi.

It gives me immense pleasure to note that you had an awesome experience.

Your feedback on our staff has been shared with them and it motivates them to strive for further excellence.

With further expansion of the expressways and pre-loaded access cards for the toll, commutation to Delhi shall be easier and smooth.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

We've traveled all over the world - and this is easily the finest hotel that we've ever stayed in!

Being a typical middle-class American traveler, it was difficult for me to let them open every door and take care of my every whim. My wife finally pulled me aside and said, "let them do their jobs!". It was still hard, but I started letting them carry luggage and open doors.

My only issue was with their car service. I would take a car to work in the morning, work all day, and call them when I was ready to come back to the hotel. Since I often worked late, I did not setup a "fixed" schedule.

Our office was in DLF Cyber City phase 2 - perhaps 6 blocks from the hotel. One evening, I called for a car - waited 45 minutes - talked to the front desk 6 times - and finally just walked back to the hotel. Their reaction was interesting - they were almost mad at me for walking. On the other hand - if they had sent the car as promised ... it wouldn't have been a big deal.

Aside from that - the restaurants were amazing, the pool is fantastic, and the architecture breath-taking.

Highly recommended - I would stay there again!
