It is hard to resist the gleaming Westin, on your way from New Delhi to Gurgaon, which pegs to offer a gourmet trail to a connoisseur. Having dined at their Chinese restaurant, EEST, it was time we headed to Prego, their Italian outpost. Situated on their ground floor, the restaurant thrives to create a ‘fun-dining’ experience letting its guests shed any inhibitions if they have of dining at a luxury hotel. Try dropping a fork here once, and the staff breaks into a candid applause, lauding you instead of embarrassing you for the casual clumsiness. Guests often ask for a Chef Emiliano special dish for their curiosity’s pleasure, which he always prepares with delight! Our Italian marathon commenced with a hearty portion of the Chef’s special vegetarian salad, followed by a portion of Ceasar Salad and creamy vegetarian ravioli, which clearly has to be, the best ravioli I have ever tasted.
The ambiance has a very casual yet chic feel to it with live stations and wine cellars giving a glimpse into what constitute your wine and dine routine.
But a special mention here has to go to the staff, with all their knowledge and friendliness, out meal was enhanced by their hospitality. Their smiles, as pleasant as their service maintained that the guest’s slight signal becomes their command. Anuj, our server, right from bringing us the best wine, to concluding our meal with a dessert of our choice, was out rightly sensitive to our vegetarian tastes and along with the Chef’s varied preparations made us fall in love with Italian cuisine, all over again.
A trip to Prego is enough to satiate your appetite with Italian food that is authentic to the boot. Make sure you don’t leave without trying their signature Tiramisu and Mud cake, the taste of which lingers on, even on your way back home!
