“Truly, amazingly good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

This hotel exceeded my expectations, even after reading the reviews. Big swimming pool. Pleasant cigar lounge. Extremely nice staff. Classy and polite chauffeur service (essential to get around as there are no pavements in Delhi and walking through traffic is dangerous). I was deeply impressed how the staff followed up on a tiny little procedural flaw at arrival. I don't have enough superlatives for this impressive and beautiful hotel. They even make decent pizza!

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much fo ryour kind words.

It is a delight to know that our team and the services were up to your satisfaction. As you rightly said, traffic in Gurgaon can be a little hard to negotiate when you want to walk, and therefore our Chauffers have been trained to guide guests when and where required.

We beleive that we make the best thin crust pizzas in town, and your compliment assures us of that fact. The Chef and his team have been constanly innovating to keep up with the nest in the world.

It would be nice to know the procedural flaw that occured during your stay and if me and my team can do anything to rectify anything that is required. My e mail address is gaurav.issar@oberoihotels.com

Thank you once again.

Warm Regards

Gaurav Issar

Well, you can only marvel at the expansive mode of putting together this property, its massive water bodies, the glass facades and the lobby on the 5th level, which means rooms are located at below levels! Quite a concept. You can also see the scenic reflection pool from this main lobby.

I also compliment them for the care taken to ensure that guests in the restaurants are not disturbed by the resident guests by segregating the two sections and having a bridge within the property, to connect the two.

The pool is a fab, and it makes sense to believe the trainer when he says that the hotel pool is largest in all of Delhi/Gurgaon. Though, I still like the pool at adjoining Trident, more the decor.

I tried the coastal veg food, and was disappointed, perhaps because of the lack of taste for such a palate as also not sure if veg food is the right type for a costal cuisine...but other than that, everything else was perfect.

My stay was a result of the upgrade provided by Trident, their sister brand in the adjacent property...perhaps, their investment in getting a New customer to try an Oberoi? For this was my first stay across any Oberoi property.

Room Tip: Ask for. Room facing the pool...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at The Oberoi, Gurgaon.

The team is delighted to know that the design, structure and teh architecture was to your liking. The swimming pool indeed is the longest in all the pools that one may have seen, and the pool is also outsoor heated. So in winters you shall be able to swim even at the lowest temperatures.

The Chef has been made aware of your remarks about Amaranta. The kitchen team is already looking into what we can improve for the better, even as I write to you.

May I also request you to provide me with any suggestions that you may have at gaurav.issar@oberoihotels.com, shul dit be convenient to you.

Thank you again for sparing your valuable time.

Warm Regards

I stayed here for 3 weeks and I cannot rate this highly enough. The staff were extremely friendly, taking the time to get to know you and talk to you when you meet. Anything you require is never too much trouble from extra towels/water to your room to arranging a golf trip or visit to Taj mahal. Restaurants excellent - a good variety to choose (I didn’t eat the same thing twice in 3 weeks) and facilities including spa, swimming pool and gym give you plenty of options. Local mall only 5 mins drive. The staff truly go out their way to make you feel very welcome

I stayed at the Trident once and the Oberoi Gurgaon twice over a 3 week period and here is a comparison of both:
Rooms: Much larger at the Oberoi. Bathrooms: More modern fittings at the Oberoi but shower mixers rather complicated to use. Trident better in this respect.
Restaurants : Oberoi has the Amaranta which is incredibly good.
Exterior: Both are beautiful but the Trident is perhaps more visually striking.
Shops: Much better at the Oberoi.
Spa: The Oberoi spa is 24 hours but I preferred the Trident.
Service: Fantastic in both. The Oberoi offers free transport to the nearby Ambien Mall. I didn't try asking at the Trident.
The 2 hotels are linked by a walk-way so if price is a factor, you can stay at the Trident (which is usually cheaper) and stroll over to the shops and restaurants at the Oberoi. Both hotels are superb and you can't go wrong picking either.

Room Tip: Overlooking reflection pool

Thank you for writing.

It is extremely helpful for us to see such a comparison between our hotels. My wife and I have stayed at all the top hotels in Delhi. In the 1980's the Oberoi in town was a home away from home. In Gurgaon near the airport the Oberoi has much better rooms than the Leela. We also liked the restaurant at the Oberoi better. However, I found it uncomfortable that at breakfast they presented vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes next to each other with no indication of the difference. In general, I would say that the staff at the Leela are a bit more pleasant but overall the Oberoi is best. However, be sure to watch the steps as you go from the lobby up to elevators in the room wing—they are poorly designed. I didn't think much of the shops.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sparing your valuable time to write about The Oberoi, Gurgaon.

Coming from a well travelled guest is always a good sign and we are delighted that you have like the overall hotel experience.

Your feedback about the food counters at Breakfast and the steps leading to the guest block have been noted. Steps are being taken to improve both of them even as I write to you.

The Retail Arcade at the hotel is based on Luxury and only has been around for a short while. We are opening more outlets in a few weeks and you will see a marked improvement when you visit the hotel again.

I thank you again for writing and hope to see you again soon.

The Oberoi service is outstanding and cannot be compared to any other luxury Hotel chain I have been staying with till date. I could add a few incredible stories but In this case no need. Go and visit this Hotel, enjoy the Oberoi service, the unique Butler approach, the outstanding facilities - best lap Pool I have seen in a Business Hotel so far - and last but not least the gorgeous rooms. Last but not least the Hotel has a great concept for natural light - enjoy....

Room Tip: All the rooms are ok as both views from the Hotel offer a great surrounding... Maybe consider upper...
