Good bungalow accommodation right next to the park. Wonderful old tree in the grounds packed full with colourful birds. Do watch out for the charge for drinks with your meals- you are not told until it us check out time.

This place is good value for money. Yes the place is a bit basic but it's in a good location right beside the national park and just a short ride/walk from Sasan. The staff were very friendly and the food of a very good quality. Very quiet place too. i would recommend it, not necessarily rave about it - but if you're only staying for a while which most people do in Gir then it's perfectly adequate.

The first thing that struck me when I entered GBL was the peace and quiet of this place. Best thing here.. no TV's and newspapers. You are surrounded by nature and you can soak up the ambience. Stayed here for 4 days.Loved it. There are a large number of mango trees planted in the property and the sheer number of birds seen in and around the property are amazing. Even if you do not know anything about birds, there are books available and a quick reference will guide you on the birds you see there. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, the loo is functional and clean. The staff is helpful and goes out of the way to make your stay comfortable. Fateh Singh ji who is currently managing the place woke up at once at 530am to put on the pump when we realised there was no water and we had an early morning safari. The food is basic, a decent spread and filling. The staff prepared non spicy food for my children when requested and we did not have to tell them about it again.
My advice, early morning go for a quiet walk towards the far end of the property and see the peackocks who frequent the property. I spent an hour sitting on the ground there and was privy to the activity of the peackocks, igrits and even an Ibis who sat briefly on a tree before moving on.

The property is located near gate no 2 of the forest. Before dawn if you wake up and sit on the verandah near the dining area, you might be lucky to hear the roaring of lions as well... I did, though only one day out of the four days.

If you are expecting 5 star amenities and facilities pls stay at the Taj etc.. not at GBL. GBL offers you decent accomodation and food with a personal touch to the service at a reasonable price. It offers you an experience of being close to nature with the comfort as near to home as possible. Adding a swing, a see saw or a basket ball hoop, will help provid more activities for the children.

Thank you Mr Fateh Singh ji and team for making our stay enjoyable, fun and memorable and of course thank you to Mr Pradeep who managed all my bookings including the safaris.

I will be visiting again. See you in May 2014.

Room Tip: Carry a good pair of binoculars with you as it will be more fun watching the birds

I strictly recommend NO for this hotel...Nobody should visit this hotel. V visited this hotel on 7.11.13 to 9.11.13 for two nights but we vacated the property on the very next day. Third class hotel. They are serving road type food with 5 star prices. Nobody should stay at this premises. Actually the owner of this property is careless about his property. One Manager namely Fatehsingh from gwalior is a inexperience person handling the property. I got terrible electric shock as i tried to switch on the geyser for hot water. There is no T.V . No extra activity. Per head they are charging exorbitant price of rs. 400.00 for lunch and the quality of food is of third grade quality. Even dogs and animals will also not eat this type of foods. Another thing, they had made two single bed into one double bed and therefore the gap in the middle of the bed is irritating experience. My cell no. is 8733829914 and 8530712974. If anybody wants to get any help from me I would be happy. I can give you excellent feedback about the one day gir experience. Actually, the cook is nepali/chinese though he could not able to prepare good chinese dish. All the reviews posted for this gir birding lodge may be fake. please dont rely on any of the review.

Room Tip: please avoid this hotel at any cost.

The hotel was nice and the staff friendly. Good food and good service. Try and spend at least some hours here during daylight to enjoy the ambiance. Not a posh hotel but functional. Would recommend for the above-average budget traveler, who believes in getting what you pay for.

i had visited this place a couple of weeks back and was not happy with the service and the overall experience . the cottages are priced high on per day basis but the experience is sad. the food should not be tried as they serve very below average food and charge exorbitantly. the driver and gypsy provided by the lodge is a cheat as will charge you heavily for taking you to the reception and dropping you back to lodge instead make your own arrangements . the gypsy owner agreed with us at a certain price and then after a day quoted a different and higher price as a result we had to make arrangements ourselves and that has left a bitter taste about this lodge management and its tie ups.
the breakfast is very basic with not much variety , tasteless food (be it breakfast , lunch or dinner) but the price quoted per person is exorbitant.
i would not recommend this place at they extort money.
we were at the cottage and had to catch the early morning safari and the first morning itself we discovered that there was no water in the bathroom. we had great difficulty and even after calling the manager the water was not started and we got late for the safari. the service is not prompt. there is no television which was a great disappointment and there were times when there was power cut in the afternoon for hours and we were dying of heat in the cottage as they do not have generator.
not a pleasant experience.

We had a great great time at Gir birding lodge and why not !! Amazing location, very well maintained, superb rooms and bathrooms(very well maintained), delicious food and the awesome bird life within the campus is what GBL is all about...

The best thing about GBL is its hospitality. Mr. Pradeep and his highly efficient team makes sure that you are provided the best. Every service that is possible in a forest is available here.

We had an amazing experience in the forest too.. Superb sightings of lions and a leopard too with lots of birds..This was possible only because we had booked our gypsy with Mr. Pradeep well in advance. He asks for a few documents prior the booking to help you get the safari booked and makes sure you don't miss a single ride of all you have booked..but the safari availability depends on the rush inside the park and to help you with this Mr. Pradeep is the best judge..

Right from the moment you enter GBL till you leave you surely will have the best experience.

This place is very close to the park gate and you have good chances of spotting various animals just outside the GBL gate.

What attracted me more was the jungle lore from the staff and the tiny nick knacks and beautiful hangings all over the property in different rooms...

I highly recommend this place for a comfortable and convenient stay...
