“Magnificent, Holy, Modern, Sporty and Fully Packed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

This place is a holy place and shrine of famous Swaminarayan Saints.

This temple is located in Gandhinagar which is capital of Gujarat. By the entry only, you can sense it is something magnificent. This temple has very nice artistic sculpture on the rocks. The total ambience is divine and holy.

There are very nice paintings decorated around life size statues. Huge sets of different saints and their life are really enchanting. The entire temple is very nicely built and properly maintained. The temple is very clean, peaceful and delightful.

The gardens are vibrant in colour and very scenic. Lush green lawns, different shaped trees, nice idols of animals and holy objects like Elephant, Horses, Kumbha etc.

There is a grand amusement park inside the campus which is very modern and small replica of Essel World. There are modern sporty rides, you can not get bored.

They have built up a new section recently for 'Laser, Fire and Sound' Show on the water fountains. That one is really mind blowing show. They operate it everyday except Monday and Monsoon.

Must keep on revisiting.

“Very artistic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

For me, this was one of the best attractions of Delhi. We reached there on a metro from Connaught Place (CP) and the main entrance gate was about 500m away from the station. One needs to enqueue, pass the very tight security check to enter the temple premises.

The sculptures, roofs, statues, walls and especially the ceiling of the main temple are very artistic and mesmerizing. There are various shows running at different timings and the synchronized musical fountain show is something worth watching.

Since food items are also not allowed to be taken inside, they have an in-house cafeteria which serves various Indian as well as continental meal/snacks (they serve vegetarian food only).

Helpful tips:

Avoid carrying belongings like hand-bags, cameras, lighters, mobile phones etc. They spare nothing, not even a pen-drive!

You can deposit your belongings at their locker but again you will have to stand in queue to have them deposited and again later to collect them.

Disappointing it is but no photographs are allowed inside. That's why they ask you to deposit your cameras outside. They have in-house photo shoot points where you can avail their service if you wish to.

No entrance fee is applicable but you need to pay (nominal) to watch shows, have your photos taken and ofcourse if you eat at their eateries.

Best time to enter is at around 5:30 PM, you can watch the the musical show at 7 PM (I believe they have a recurring show or two), have snacks and visit their souvenir stalls to buy gifts for your friends/family back home.

“highly rexommended place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

The place is so clean and the place is huge. Lots and lots of people. Security is very tight. no handbags, belt purse allowed. One has to go through strict security.
Lots to see inside. Shoes and chappals need to be kept in the well arranged shoe stands. There is huge hall and a museum in the temple.
Lots of drinking water available. Clean and well maintained toilets.
Food of every kind available. Mist see place, Lots of fun games for children and places to sit and enjoy the akshardham temple.
