Description: 'Agashiye' in Gujarati means on the terrace. This beautiful restaurant is spread over two huge terraces are inter-connected by a smaller one that houses a small wooden cottage. At Agashiye, the food is freshly prepared, a lot of it in the terrace kitchen where you can see it. Our attempt is to retain the distinct flavours of the ingredients and we use both spices and oil sparingly. The menu at Agashiye changes daily and varies seasonally too, so an item that you particularly liked during a previous visit may not be there on the menu. Though we hope you'd find another favourite! The staff at Agashiye comprises mostly of men from neighboring villages. During dinner, they will guide you to the waiting area where you will be served juice and starters. You will be informed when your table is ready. During lunch, you are seated at your table right away. The food is served in a kansa thali immediately on being seated at the table. The meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice. Servings are unlimited. The staff has been instructed not to constantly hover around you and yet be attentive. In case you have a specific requirement, a supervisor will be there to assist you. Please don't be surprised if you are served a non-Gujarati dish or hear non-Indian music at Agashiye. It is neither an ethnic nor a theme restaurant. It is meant to be a dining experience in a contemporary Gujarati home.Agashiye can be booked for parties of up to 400 people with a buffet setting.

When in Ahmedabad if you have just one meal you can have then I suggest this is where you should go. An authentic gujarati thali awaits you and the service is absolutely delightful. Walk through a tastefully done up courtyard and staircase , stop by at the gift shop where you can buy some wonderful artisanal items...

Enjoy unlimited goodness and eat with the season at Agashiye. Can't get any better - you're wrong ! You get 50% of your bill amount at the gift shop! Follow @beingmrskapoor on twitter for pictures and instagram at @aartickapoor.

Nice cosy place to have a Gujarati Thali. The ambience is sooo different in different seasons and lunch through dinner. The spread is neither extremely lavish nor insufficient but such that a person can relish and savour the varieties.

Located in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad, this mansion converted to a hotel is a must for every visitor looking for the authentic "Gujarati place" in the city. The food, the accommodation (The Hotel), the ambiance, everything about AGASHIYE is quintessentially classy Gujarati.

The menu is full of names one would not find in many places outside of Gujarati homes. Both the eating joints - one serving snacks and the other serving Gujarati Thali (full meal) - could well become an experience to remember for a tourist. The full meal is served on the terrace (AGASHIYE) of the restored mansion, which the city municipality was ready to dismantle once upon a time!

The Hotel rooms are splendid: I have not seen better rooms in my life of 50-plus years! Again, the rooms are like a mansion in Gujarat but with all modern facilities. Each room is almost unique, unlike the modern hotels offering box-type rooms. Imagine yourself stretching yourself on a swing (Hinchko) and sending mail back home ten thousand miles away, using a Wi-Fi connectivity !

For anyone affording a five-star accommodation, this Heritage hotel is more than his/her money can buy!

Rajesh Bhat.

We had lunch at Agashiye over the weekend - and contrary to the very high reputation that it probably has, we found it to be average. It wasnt bad - its probably the case of over-expectations.

The positives -
- Service - is excellent
- Good Taste selectively- almost everything that was served was fairly good

The negatives
- Again, good taste selectively - a lot of the vegetables were very ordinary - for cuisine, which is not dishing out good health, not having a good taste is inexplicable.
- Lacking variety - just one good salad, very limited farsans with no exclusivity - i pretty much ate what i can eat at my house

I think it was just a case of we going there with all the expectations that we had... its an ordinary meal that we were served

I visited Agashiye with my family. We have pre-booked table as most of the time the restaurant remains full.

We were greeted with welcome drink and snacks. It gives you feeling of candle light dinner.

After welcome drink and snacks, we were taken to the dinning area where they started service the best gujarati food. Your tummy will be full but your mouth will want more.

It's one of the best place to have authentic gujarati food in Ahmedabad.
