Description: 'Agashiye' in Gujarati means on the terrace. This beautiful restaurant is spread over two huge terraces are inter-connected by a smaller one that houses a small wooden cottage. At Agashiye, the food is freshly prepared, a lot of it in the terrace kitchen where you can see it. Our attempt is to retain the distinct flavours of the ingredients and we use both spices and oil sparingly. The menu at Agashiye changes daily and varies seasonally too, so an item that you particularly liked during a previous visit may not be there on the menu. Though we hope you'd find another favourite! The staff at Agashiye comprises mostly of men from neighboring villages. During dinner, they will guide you to the waiting area where you will be served juice and starters. You will be informed when your table is ready. During lunch, you are seated at your table right away. The food is served in a kansa thali immediately on being seated at the table. The meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice. Servings are unlimited. The staff has been instructed not to constantly hover around you and yet be attentive. In case you have a specific requirement, a supervisor will be there to assist you. Please don't be surprised if you are served a non-Gujarati dish or hear non-Indian music at Agashiye. It is neither an ethnic nor a theme restaurant. It is meant to be a dining experience in a contemporary Gujarati home.Agashiye can be booked for parties of up to 400 people with a buffet setting.

“Classy, upscale place to have an excellent Gujarati Thali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

This place is on the terrace of an old haveli (traditional large indian house) situated in the old part of the city, right next to the "Siddi Syed Mosque". There is an open air section as well as an air conditioned section. 'Agashiye" in Gujarati (the local language) means 'terrace'.

The service is warm, courteous and they serve you like they would serve nobility or royalty. The plates are silver plated and the food is delicious. The thali consists of sweets, coolers, fried and baked breads, dals, kadhi, vegetables of 2-3 types, 2 varieties of snacks and more.

It is a great place to spend a winter evening having a relaxed dinner in the open air section. If you plan to go in the summer, choose the air conditioned section.

The price of the thali is Rs.500 + tax - or in that range. It is an very worthwhile experience!

“It is a landmark in restaurants in the food capital city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

This restaurant is run by well known family of Ahmedabad city, understanding and appreciating the food interest, the family came up with the business in their old city homes. The ambience is very nice, very Gujarati and food is authentic in its taste and presentation. It reminds of traditional taste and culture of Gujrat. It's a must visit place for having Gujarati Thali and if you wish to have Gujarati snacks. You will surely keep coming for more.

Just that the restaurant is opposite to a famous landmark of Gujarat - Siddi Syed ni Jali. The location of the restaurantis in the middle of the city near to lucky tea stall just opposition. The tea stall was the favorite stop over for Late M F Hussain. So this place is a must visit if you are a foodie.
