“Difficult experience”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Tried to visit the museum for textile collection but was unable to communicate with two guards at the gate, not even allowed to see the books for sale. Strange to have guards but no reception ,Need to have your own guide who speaks the local language. Cannot carry in any bags.Children not allowed.Booking by e-mail should be weeks /months in advance. If you do not have a definite place you depend on the behaviour of the guard. If you can phone in advance perhaps you can get someone to communicate. Groups appear to have preferential treatment.

“Went in unsure came out very impressed.”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

This is a private collection owned by a foundation. The building and wooden hand carvings are as equally as impressive as the textiles collection. It's free but you must book. They limit numbers as they want to keep heat and humidity in control as fabrics are prone to these. I appreciate that you, like me, would want to touch the texture of the textiles but again this would eventually destroy the fabric details so most are overhead with glass or plastic. So it's about respecting the work and once you see the intricate designs and all hand made with such dedication, love and skill then you can respect they they have very strict rules. If you cannot respect or follow rules then simply stay away. The guide was passionate and the gentleman taking the bookings and working in the small gift shop was very very nice indeed. If you like textiles or not you should come out in awe at such workmanship.
You might feel you want more time if so book another slot...it is free!
