We stayed as part of a tour. The location was good, and there is a great garden/pool - a green plus in an Indian city. The restaurant food for breakfast and snacks was really good and friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and light. It just needs an upgrade. Try the Lemon Tree Hotel just up the street; for a similar cost your money goes a lot further.

After my stay last time, I had an opportunity to stay in this hotel for one night on a business trip. This time I was fortunate as the hotel manager upgraded me to a suit, which has been quite big with a separate sit out area for business meetings. Biggest positive for some one getting room on riverside is the splendid view of newly banked Sabarmati river one gets from the room. Also the food at the restaurant is very nice and the reason for which this hotel is popular. However the breakfast has been disappointing with not much to offer. Staff at reception as well as other staff is quite old and needs training in properly talking with customers, the only exception has been the Manager who has been quite helpful. I could not use WiFi as first day it was down while next day morning the WiFi cards were unavailable at reception. In spite of this for the price this hotel certainly offers value.

Room Tip: Ask for room on the river side . Rooms on the fourth floor have veranda to sit facing the river.

On a business trip to Ahmedabad for 3 days. Stayed at Cama and it was really enjoyable. Highly courteous staff and clean rooms.
The lift is too old and needs replacement.
Food is excellent. Breakfast is too good.

Room Tip: Ask for the renovated rooms

The hotel is an old property, the experience being average- average food, average service, average room. They are just get by with their once-upon-a-time fancy do somehow. You would want to keep the windows open, get the curtains and linen dry cleaned, and have a big pack of hand sanitizer if you plan to stay here.

Room Tip: They are all same

Cama is supposed to be one of the most luxurious places to stay at Ahmedabad. It might have been too once. Today it seems quite outdated. They are in urgent need of stepping into the 21st century.

+ People are very nice, warm and welcoming, almost to a fault.
+ Breakfast was good.
+ We had dinner a la carte and that was quite ok.
+ Room was spacious enough with sofas and stuff.

- 'Old' was the first word that struck me as I entered the room. Probably needs renovation at several points.
- Towels and sheets were clean enough but very old and threadbare.
- Bathroom was kept clean but needs renovation.
- Shower curtain and curtain rod were practically falling off.
- Commode didn't have hand-shower, a must in India these days.
- We got two separate beds and had to ask for them to be pushed together - room with a larger twin bed wasn't available just then.

With new-flanged comfort business hotels like Lemon Tree and Sarovar Portico right next to it and other such places around, Cama needs to think about renovating the rooms, restaurants, etc. and making them a bit more modern. Hope they don't lose their warmth and hospitality in this process.
