Sabarmati ashram, which was home to mahatma Gandhi, is a must see place. The place is very well maintained and houses lot of information about Gandhiji's life. There is a museum of letters written by him and those sent to him by eminent personalties around the world. There are lots of pictures from his childhood to his later days of life. Full narration of life , models of acts like Dandi march, his loom, and description of major events of his life are collected in another museum. His house is well preserved, which has Kasturba Gandhi's room, other small rooms, and Gandhiji's room, with his seating mat and hand loom. The ashram is in the city and is well connected by public transport. Entry is free. The Sabarmati river flows behind the ashram, and people can sit on the stairs to enjoy the view.
