I might be a bit biased in this review, given my inclination towards history and my reverence for Mahatma Gandhi. Place has been preserved to lock the scene of early 1930s, when Gandhi stayed here. His room, his house, prayer room, everything is well maintained. It has a library where you can find all books on Mahatma Gandhi. Walk around the library to get a glimpse of history of Ashram and Indian freedom struggle, in general.

I went with my friend at about 8am, perfect time to go as it was not sunny and everything yet shut so roads empty.
It has collection of Gandhiji's photos of himself at deifferent ages, with different famous people and there is a room which has his letters put up and the entire Dandi Walk shown with the help of mini sculptures .
I got a wonderful chance to see his room where he sat and Spun the cotton on the chakra. It overlokks the Sabarmati River which makes the place even more beautiful and serene.
A must go...

The Gandhi Ashram retains two very unique characteristic of its initial inhabitant and that are - simplicity and peace.
The moment you enter the premise of the Ashram from the usually populated Ashram Road, you can sense a calm engulfing you.
A very well-maintained premise, with a very well archived history plus museum section that helps you walk through the entire life of Gandhi in brief.
You can explore the original house where Gandhi stayed and if you go sometime in the day you can also try your hands at spinning cotton on the charkha right on his verandah.
Evenings at the Ashram which overlooks the Sabarmati river are beautiful and if you stay till the sunset you will allow your eyes a treat.

Also, if you are one of those who likes to always carry a book or a sketch-pad with you, you might find yourself mystically planted on some corner of the Ashram reading or sketching in the quite and chill of the place.

A must have experience in Ahmedabad.

see where Gandhi spent his life between 1918 to1930. lots of posters and pictures, though nothing hi tech :) if it doesnt bring a lump to your throat in the presence of the history of a very great man, then beter check your pulse. you may not be alive
