“Most Sacred and Peaceful”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Its a visit of a lifetime. In this era of violence, if you really want to learn how an individual made the difference and if you feel "Bapu's" presence, please visit. Mahatma is still very much present in each and every atom of the Ashram.

“very basic”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

The Gandhi Ashram is preserved in it's original form- simple, serene, ascetic, austere. A must visit.

“Interested in Indian History, Must Visit”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

If one wants to know and read about Indian history, one must visit the place definitely as there is a lot of detailing especially about Gandhi, there are newspaper cuttings, letters he received, letters he has written, etc. It takes one back to those days and realize the difficult times people of the country had to go during the British rule, Indians were not even treated as humans. Just to understand Gandhian history, good place put should have written about others as well. Part of the ashram is well maintained but the rear part has elements that need to be addressed as there were rowdy people sitting and playing cards, making noise, etc. and it needs to be taken care of on immediate basis. In the summer it is really hot and some form of airing needs to be provided especially for people who would like to spend some hours there and also a small cafe will be good, can do it up in the rear portion.

“Must see”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

All people should visit this sacred place where Gandhi stayed and spend all those glorious days of freedom fighting in all different ways of peace. Place is situated at the city centre and you can have simplest public transport like Auto Rickshaw ( Tuk Tuk ) to reach the place. (You cannot read the rate meter so chances of cheating if you are not Indian). The best way is take your own hired vehicle. One can spend about 2 hours at this place. You need to see and read many articles on his life path and things related to Gandhi. I like the most attractive the place where Gandhi use to stay ( a small house/hut ) and his spinning wheel machine. You are allowed to take photographs. It is also advisable to read and get known about Gandhi’s life before visiting this place, it helps while being at Gandhi ashram. If you get some guide then that will be great but not necessary at all.

“Still has a 'presence'.”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Despite the large number of visitors there is a calmness and tranquility about this place. The museum is excellent. It is well laid out and the amount of reading material is just right. Have visited Gandhi's House in another city but rate this as much better.
