The architechture is amazing for being a simple well. Did not have enough material or guide on the location to explain the background. Need to do a homework on the net before visiting the place to appreciate the same.

The adalaj stepwell is just on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city and can be easily missed as not much is said about this beautiful stepwell. It is very easily accessible by the BRTS service. once you get off at Chandkheda catch a share auto and it will drop you at the road leading to the well. The adalaj stepwell has a 3 way staircase entrance. It has a pentagonal ceiling which is held together by 4 jharokhas. One can go down to the vav and see water which is still at the bottom most level. Beautifully carved it is worth seeing this monument if you are in Ahmedabad.

Dont miss this for a piece of history and the architecture. Can be visited during the day, until 4pm..after which it becomes little dark inside
