I started my journey from Ahmadabad via sarkhej to sanand, nalsarovar bird sanctuary by road in wgonR, its almost 80 km distance. The entry chargs are 75/p then we walked in the park & a boatwala asked us for boat ride, bt we first approached to the approved boaters bt it above 12-1300rupees for 2 hrs, then we bargained with him & striked a deal @500 fr 2hr including halt at main islands, there were hell lot of birds roaming at the islands & floating on water, then we reached dhrabla island there local triabla people were there they served us kathiwadi food made from millet & sev tomamto bhaji with butter milk costs around 150/plate. we rested there for 30 mins, the ladies were making lotus garland & pottery she taught me also. then the boatwala took us to the zone where lots of lotus were grown, I plucked 10-15 lotuses lavender & pink in color. In between we took photos & videos from mobcam. We returned safely in the park. Take care to take water bottles, snacks & sunblock & Most importantly do not litter or pollute the ecosystem. thankyou & do not disturb flemingos or any other bird & do not indulge into poaching plz.

Around 61 km from Ahmedabad though we drove back from Lothal and stayed at a nearby resort ( Kensville Golf Resort) which is about 9 k.m,..to get some more time for Nal Sarovar - a Bird Sanctuary, spread over an area of 120.82-sq-km Lake, a serene marshland with shallow waters (4-5 ft) which contains 36 small islands & habitat of about 210 types of birds.
Mainly inhabited by migratory birds as their wintering ground, Nalsarovar wetland is the largest wetland bird sanctuary in Gujarat, and one of the largest in India.
It was surprisingly clean than what we expected . It might be due to some better awareness of the surrounding villagers from quite a good number of villages attached to the periphery of the lake and who now take care of the cleanliness of the lake along with the limited manpower of the forest department.
But still you can find out floating emptied packets of `Lays or Balaji' along with pet bottles of cold drinks ( I am sure they are also migratory ) ...really shame on us...do we really expect somebody will educate us to take care of our nature ?
It's always better to go there at early morning or late afternoon to stay till evening - what we did.

Lovely place to visit. Should reach @6.00 am for better exprience to view Flamingos and other Birds in early Morning. Boating in group of friends and families is also wonderful experience. A Small Island inside Nal Sarovar has Great view. Refreshments are available here. Entry fees, parking fees and Boating Prices are fixed. Avoid weekends.

Let's not just talk about birds here. Let me share the money you are going to spend here.
1) 85 Rs for a Eco ride to the spot with return, which is not worth if you are a group of boys and like to take a walk.
2) Buy only ticket for one island which is 220 Rs, boat riders will negotiate with you to give you offers, we got 1000 rs for 4 person of private boat which covered 3 spots and unlimited lunch. Worth it. If we would have paid 3k rs for the same which will never be worth of it.
3) Governement should either allow boat rideres to charge as per their convinience or make a strict rule of no negotiation and at very cheap rates. I don't like negotiating with anyone . rather just pay a fair amount.

Food was superb if you like to have bajre ki roti, bengan ka bhartha, sev tomato, alloo ki sabji, makhan, chhas, jaggary, lahsun chautney. and everything unlimited, 1000 rs for 4 person is worth.

We plunged into mid of the lake and enjoyed a lot. Beware, those plants inside the lake is little itchy.
