“A great place”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

I have been a seasoned traveler to Goa and this was my second visit in which I indulged in luxury at the behest of my friends persuasion. They booked the 3 bedroom villa Venus and I must say I am very impressed. Quite a well kept property. We had our own private pool.

The caretaker took us for a stroll and showed us around the other villas but we'd prefer to spend on the Venus due to easy accessibility.

I hope the management takes some effort to put up a board on Candolim Calangute road as it's quite difficult to locate the place.

Room Tip: Choose villa Venus if you were to.

I'm not going to sugar coat this specially owing to the fact that this is a LUXURY hideout & is supposed to do justice for the price one pays for a villa-

Yes it's a beautiful property, Yes its in the heart of Candolim (The relatively peaceful side of North beaches), Yes the Villas, property is pretty-BUT

Ill maintained (Open air baths come with insects, no sweeping etc, & bedsheets/rooms smelled rusty & un ventilated)
Service was poor(Expect breakfast to come in at 10:30-11 am)
Noise factor- There was construction happening for their new yoga center so it was a quite a bummer specially since we had a little baby with us and stressed out parents who needed a break!
No lights in the pathway to the Beach- expect pitch darkness & excuse that the 'season' hasn't started yet hence no lights were 'organised'
Food- Bloody expensive & not worth it. A whopping 750 per person for a meal which was well too bland for the Indian palate but yea less oil n home food alright! Don't expect a beautiful spread for breakfast. I asked pancakes for breakfast- I got coconut filled, cold flat pancakes at 11 am on our last day! Qty is good though.

Good part- The swimming pool. It's with less chlorine levels and huuuuge. Because the season didn't kick in yet -we got the entire pool to ourselves.

Summary-I was with my parents, older sis, bro, sis in law, baby- and the highlight of the trip was the beautiful swimming pool & the location pt. I wouldn't go back there with a partner owing to the sad service & ill maintenance.

If you're not the duke or duchess who apparently visit every feb- you'll definitely be neglected but if you want a luxury abode & love a great swimming pool, privacy, relatively less quiet an invironment- I'd still recommend going around the peak season- maybe the service levels are better then.

Room Tip: Ask for Casinhas or the grand villa where the duke/duchess stayed- if you can afford it ;)

We had rented the Venus Villa ( 3 bedroom , hall kitchen) with a private pool. We were 5 adults and 2 children. The pool was clean and well maintained. My son refused to come out of the pool. The housekeepers were very friendly and were at our service as and when we had wanted help. The cook actually made whatever we wanted for breakfast from poha , puris, omlettes, etc The place was very clean. The beach was so clean and private. Unike the calangute, baga, their was no dirt. The main pool though we never used looked very clean. Also would like to thank Mr. Pradeep Sethi, the manager, he was very helpful. Overall, great place, good bonding time with our friends (not possible in hotels), definitely looking forward to make more trips to this wonderful getaway.

Stayed here for with family and friends. We booked out the entire 5-bedroom villa and all three 2-bedroom 'cashinas' and held our wedding on the property. The property and buildings are perfect. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated, and come with en suite bathrooms. The grounds are huge and have a really nice big 20m pool with loungers and a private gate down to a quiet stretch of Candolim beach. The place is super relaxing, and laid back. As a wedding venue for a small (less than 100 people) wedding, it was also perfect.

Breakfast is included and can be eaten on your balcony or more communally on the large veranda tables downstairs. Service was pretty slow and disorganized most mornings for this. A printed card with breakfast options rather than being asked what you want without knowing what's available would help. Also, with 20+ people staying on site, it's not fair that the bacon runs out after a few servings.

Dinners and lunches can be arranged to be taken at the villa and when we did do this they were delicious.

My only issue is that of the service. As it's not a hotel but a rental villa, the staff do their own thing and let you do yours. A bit more communication and staff training would lift this place to being perfect. Most of the staff have very limited English, so questions can't really be answered, and you are never sure if instructions or queries are understood. I know this is India, but as the clientele seem to be international, I don't think this is an unreasonable request. We stayed in much cheaper places with much better service throughout this trip.

Overall, this was a great place to stay. If they invested a little time and effort into the staff training aspect, it would be hard to fault it at all.

What you see advertised about Lakhanpal on the internet is what you get.

It is beautiful. I booked via Luxury Goa Villas Ltd.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. They cook whatever you want for breakfast and bring to your villa. If they don't understand, it's usually omelette and toast and fruit!!

Pool is peaceful and great that there aren't that many guests to share with and the private access to the beach is very useful.

Lakhanpal has a nice quieter part of the beach though just 5 minutes walk north or south you can hit the crowded areas very easily.

Only one thing that isn't mentioned. The drivers if they are available can and will take you anywhere you want for day trips. They don't ask you for fare after. Don't assume this is free. When you check out and on the transfer to the airport, whoever your last driver is, he will hand you an itemised bill of all the trips you have taken. They are quite reasonable charges since the driver has stayed all day waiting for you but just don't assume it's free like the laundry and bottled water provided!!

Other than that I would definately come back here again and rent the whole place out!

We stayed at Aashyana Lakhanpal in Goa. The place is out of this world. The cottages were self contained along with a small but well stocked kitchenette. They have 2 bedrooms along with a dining room, a small living room and a small garden. The place offers breakfast and laundry free.
The breakfast is served in the dining room and is very filling, you have options to choose from and they will serve it to you in the room.
They have a path way that takes you right to the beach which is not very crowded though it is not very well lit at night. They have a big pool which is great. They do not add chlorine to the water but purify it with ozone. There is a write up about the process in the rooms.
The only drawback about the place is that they do not have any restaurant. You are can get your own food and cook it in the kitchenette. The kitchenette has a big refrigerator, maybe a 160 liter that can be well stocked.
Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Though a little on the expensive side, we paid Rs. 50000/- for a 2 bedroom cottage for 4 days and 3 nights.
