Me and my all office colleagues were planing for the picnic and we search over the internet and we found this hotel which is in our budget and after some days we book the ticket over the internet and we reach to the place next week.
The place was very nice the thing i like was the beach and the cold air coming from the sea we used to go to beach every evening and used to visit the new places there.
The room service was good and the location of the hotel was also very good.
The best was swimming pool which was out side but i was very clean.

We were a group of 5 friends who landed in Goa with a booking at some other resort. However, since we didnt like that resort we decided to move out of there and searched for a new place.

We happened to go to Marquis - a decent resort with good rooms. The best part about the resort was the swimming pool which was reasonable deep (abt 6.5 ft) unlike quite other resorts which have absolutely shallow pools.

Rooms were cozy and clean with AC, Hot Water, Mini Bar and all other basic amenities. Room Service was also prompt in most cases.

However, the beds were not very comfortable and one of my friends had a stiff back after our stay of 3 nights out there. Also, the complementary breakfast left a lot to be desired. But that is the case with most other similar resorts in Goa.

The location of the Resort is good with access to quite a few good restaurants like the Stone House (highly recommended), Fisherman's Cove (very famous but rude staff) in the vicinity. The beach is also just about walking distance. Not in a position to talk about the quality of the beach area (water sports, shacks, etc)since it was raining heavily during that weekend (oct 2 - 4, 2009).

Its a decent place for the price we paid ...

guys i had a trip for goa as my b'day gift from my hubby , but instead it became regretting for both of us . After completing 1200kms journey the manager at resort "Mr Simon" welcomed us with lots of disrespect reason being i asked why u told us the resort is 4 star when it is n't n he replied if any of my staff say so give me the proof . it was provided at site photo gallery with sea side restaurant and facilities of gymnasium and disco theaque . while no such thing they possess as sea side restaurent was all washed up with high tide n photo of which is being used by them to trap customersand now their small bar area has been converted to a restaurant.
well now come to the meals
so u'll be gettin dal everyday with either brinjal or tinde
n deserts u'll get "fruits" he he he, guys tell them the meaning of deserts
fruits are part of salad.
cleanliness is secondary for them .
if u have already reserved the rooms their means u r trapped by them like one of us coz of their faque statement but if u r planning to have a visit of goa" just beware".

Not bad for a 3 star place. The standard rooms are adequately sized with satellite TV (100 channels), fridge, ceiling fan, air-con and a little balcony. The rooms in the new block are more spacious but overlook the road. The best standard rooms are those facing the pool. The bathroom looked recently renovated and was more of a wet room than bathroom. The towels are changed daily and beach/pool towels are provided. Because it is so hot and steamy in Goa the room (no.109) had a musty smell but you soon got used to it and this is a 3 star hotel in a third world country. The pool area is nice and well kept if a little tired. The nearby beautiful gardens offer lots of shade under the palm trees. Breakfast is continental-style and basic but you can gets eggs, cereal etc. at a nominal charge. The poolside restaurant offers snacks and main meals and what we had was nice but a little more expensive than outside the resort. All the staff are efficient and very friendly and like to chat.
The hotel prohibits you doing your own laundry but their prices were so reasonable that it wasn’t worth doing it yourself anyway. As with most hotels, there weren’t enough coathangers so a few wire ones in your luggage wouldn’t go amiss.
The only problem here is the erosion caused to the beach by the “River Princess” oil tanker which ran aground 9 years ago right in front of the hotel. As I write there is a court case in progress to try and get it removed. You only have to walk a few yards to left or right of the hotel and you can find lots of beach shacks offering free sunbeds and shades and great food. We especially liked the Big Blue shack (be careful, there are two with the same name next to each other – the best is the 2nd one along as you walk along the beach with the sea to your right).
There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and we especially liked the following:
Fisherman’s Cove – On the main road towards Candolim, about 7 minutes in a taxi. Very popular place with a very extensive Goan, Indian, Tandoori, Chinese and Continental menu. We had a real mixture of cuisines but everything we ordered was excellent and reasonably priced. The service is attentive and very friendly. We liked it so much we went three times.
Alma’s Inn – About 200 metres from the hotel towards the main road. Very basic local restaurant run by Alma and her relatives who are all friendly and like to chat. The food is excellent – we especially liked their spicy seafood noodles.
The Curry House – About 500 metres from the hotel, on the corner of the main road. Very extensive menu, attentive staff and live music on some nights. Nice atmosphere and good food.
Palm Shade – Between the two Taj Hotels on Sinquerim beach about 12 minutes walk away but would recommend a taxi. Menu not quite as extensive as some but what we had was very good and the seafood sizzler was enormous. The setting is lovely right by the sea.
Calamari Beach Shack – From Marquis walk up to the main road, turn left, walk 100 metres, turn left at Calamari sign and walk 200 metres to the sea. Very extensive menu and lovely setting right on the beach.
Flambe – From Marquis walk up to the main road, turn left and Flambe is about 200 metres on the right. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. There were pretty tablecloths and lots of plants about and they had certainly put some effort into making the place look nice. Lots to choose from on the menu and everything we had was very tasty.
Palms & Sands – Right next door to the Marquis. If you love seafood you’ll love this place although they do serve other things as well. It is right next to the beach with candle-lit tables and a sand carpet. Great service, great food and great atmosphere.
A word of warning about the money exchange in Goa airport. They advertise a rate on a blackboard but when you read the very, very small print at the bottom it is for amounts over £400. There are plenty of places to change money in the resorts – even little corner shops – and the rates are much better.
We had booked our holiday with Jewel in the Crown and decided to take one of their excursions called “Go Wild”. This is a two day trip and you stay in the jungle in a tent. It was a very interesting trip and well worth the money.

Hotel is very nice and staff and service by pool and restaurant is good.
Unfortunately the sea is demolishing the coastline which ment that access to the beach was very difficult, nightclub and restaurant by the sea was being demolished due to risk of falling into the sea. Nice small clean pool.
Breakfast very good as well as a la carte food in main restaurant. Room ok (deluxe)
but facing towards the taxi stand were the taxi drivers were watching any activity on balconies, so in practise these were useless, and curtains had to be drawn all day and night in order not to be on display.
Reception useless for business purposes as faxes could not be sendt abroad (??!!??)
..asked to go to the post office...emails could not be sendt..only received..As I had a death in my family during my stay and needed to communicate concerning practicalities
this was quite frustrating.

Arrived in Goa for our second visit to this wonderful place, to initially be placed in a complete dump by the tour operator. having stayed 4 hours, we left and walked to the Marquis, which we stumbled on last year.

walked in and got a great deal, and the holiday got better immidiately.

This hotel is spotless, everything you need, and surrounded by lovely grounds.

It's literally on the beach with a short walk through the garden to the path, however sadly, by our stay in march, the sea had damaged the path, some of it collapsing, so sadly it was closed, as was the Shiro bar, which over looked the beach.

I would stay here again and am planning to

May be a little bit more to the holiday cost, but its worth every penny

Just got back from Goa, staying for 2 weeks in the Marquis Beach Hotel in Candolim.
Lovely little hotel, very friendly staff who looked after myself and my husband very well and gave us a great holiday.
Spotlessly clean and the bedrooms were very good for a 3 star hotel with clean sheets, beach towels and towels every day, fridge, and a very modern bathroom.( we upgraded to a superior room, well worth the little extra)
Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, omelettes, eggs, cereals, and toast all included. Lovely gardens leading down to the beach and a beautiful very clean poolside.
Location was excellent in the quiter end of Candolim, away from the craziness of Candalute, but with dozens of bars and restaurants within walking distance or a £2 taxi ride.
We were very impressed with the whole place, well recommended - give it a go!!
We are definately booking up for next year.
