“An excellent beach resort with a superb location”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We went to Goa this August and booked this hotel by seeing its review on TripAdvisor. I must say the resort is very good with superb location. The private beach( yes u can say the beach as private only as the crowd is very less there and u can enjoy ur day by relaxing in the Garden with a view of the beach). The food price is a bit higher side and the buffet complimentary breakfast is also OK. The rooms are clean with a balcony attached. You can also enjoy candle light poolside dinner. In the rainy season the pool side dinner was closed but we requested the restaurant guys and they arranged for it.
At the reception, some stuffs are a bit rude, on day of check out, we thought the check out time was at 12 o'clock but they told it was at 11 a.m, when we asked them to give us some spare time because the resort was almost empty at that season they denied.

I was at Marquis from 11th Aug to 15th Aug 2012..I selected this resort on my own from various sites and even booked the room directly through their sales person...I was a bit apprehensive initially but once I reached there all my doubts were gone...the resort location is out of this world...bang on the beach with their own private gate for the beach...the resort itself is a small lovely property with lush green gardens and away from noise and hustle-bustle. although all necessary shops/requirements are located just 3-5 mins walk distance...The hotel staff is very polite esp. the restaurant staff...we were served lovely vegetarian food and clearly i did not expect such delicious north indian dishes by the chef...we were on all meals plan and they readily prepared non-menu items for us...amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner..clean and hygienic stuff..the luxury rooms are a bit larger then the standard rooms but I preferred the pool facing room...the rooms are small and compact but adequate and room service is a bit on the slower side...even in monsoon the swimming pool was open which i did not expect...one thing i would like to mention is that whatever is shown on their website is actually there in reality...a lot of other resorts are not like that..the only drawback is their approach road to the hotel..its a bit lonely and small but that's because its bang on the beach the road is small..bit once you enter the resort all is forgiven..total money's worth...actually i would say the location of the resort is the real advantage...its on condolim beach and so in a way its between north and south goa..so you can easily go in either directions and come back...all in all i will be back there next year for sure !!

Room Tip: room facing the pool on the first floor...room 215-216 i guess

I recently stayed here after checking few pictures online a nd reading reviews on tripadvisor. On arrival, I started to doubt reviews too. First things first, rooms aren't as big as they appear in teh pictures, we booked deluxe and they're quite small and compact. Even though electronic kettle was included, we had to call three times to get one in our room and received it after 2 hours. Cleanliness was not an issue at all, nice clean bathrooms. Beds are very nice. The spa is a hoax and is a very dingy small room smelling of damp bamboos and sheets. The property's beach front is FANTASTIC, and very beautiful. You can just lounge in the area for hours in the morning after breakfast and post dinners on sun-beds which stay there as it is. The restaurant right next to the property offers cheap and superb food. Service is fantastic there.

For many things the property lacks, I think STAFF IS THE MAJOR CONCERN. They need to be more courteous, willing to offer help and get done with the eternal gloom and frown on their faces. Nobody answers the phone at the reception at all. They do not accommodate any request whatsoever. Highly non-accommodating staff I have ever witnessed in my life.

We stayed at Marquis beach resort in Goa last weekend. All said and done it was a good experience. The room was totally worth for what we paid (2500 for 2 people we paid 3700 since there were 3 of us using the same room). The room was neat and clean though the flow of water was very slow, in fact so slow that it was difficult to take a bath! The food was good. What was disconcerting was the unhelpful front desk / reception and weird checkout time of 11 AM! Overall ok expereince.

After doing a ton of research on the net about where to stay in Goa, we (myself and my wife) finally zeroed in on Marquis Beach Resort, Sinquerim beach, Candolim, North Goa. The decision to go with this property was simply good reviews all over Tripadvisor and other internet sources. And guess what, it was just the perfect decision we made. We booked the highest end room (Luxury room) for 3N/4D with CP (bed and breakfast plan a.k.a complimentary plan) for our stay in Goa.

The good experience started right from the time of interacting with them over the phone and email - thanks to Ashvek from Marquis fro making the reservation as breeze and assisting us all along the way. It was great to find that after comparing all of MakeMytrip, Agoda, Yatra, Hotel.com and a ton of other sources for room/plan rates, Marquis offered us the best deal amongst all - none of the others could match their deal. Give this is off-season in Goa, we anyways got great rates but with limited rains and a outstanding stay, this trip was simply fantastic.

We reached the hotel on a Thursday afternoon and the very first glimpse just took our breaths away. It is "on the beach" and I mean "right on the beach". May hotels claim similar locations but except for maybe some of the 5stars in Goa, there are a handful of hotels/resorts that are on the beach. Marquis is one of them - the garden of the hotel with sun-beds and green luscious lawns are right on the beach. The sea is so close that it is simply brilliant at the way the folks at Marquis have landscaped their property and made it beautiful. The Taj hotels - Fort Aguada and Holiday Village are next door to Marquis and let me tell you that the beach in front of Marquis is any day better that the ones that Taj has. Given that and the less than half prices of Marquis, I wonder why anyone would need to go to Taj anyways with this gem of a hotel around.

The rooms are situated a little way back from the gardens/beach. Our room was cosy with all amenities - minibar, lcd tv, Jaguar fitting in the bathroom, bathtub, central AC, dehumidifier - who asked for more at that price. The rooms could be a little bigger though but the cosiness and cleanliness makes up for that in a big way - superb!

The restaurant is fabulous serving Indian/Chinese/Continental and all of that - great food. We now wonder if we should have taken the MAP (bed + bfast + lunch or dinner) because we ended up having all dinners at the hotel itself. The grills and seafood was great. The breakfast could have been better and pretty good.

All services were great - cars and bikes for hire right outside the gate - the folks helped us get a good deal for the WagonR we booked for 2 days. Room service was spot on and all staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel is very well maintained - spotless rooms, premises and landscaped gardens leading to the beach. They serve you food anywhere you like - how about having dinner at night with the beach right in front lazing on a sunbed?

The great places in North Goa - Calangute beach, Baga beach, Anjuna etc are within a 4-6 kms and Pajim about 14 kms away - takes very little time to travel anywhere. We went upto Uttorda beach in South Goa from the hotel in about an hour and a half after sightseeing Old Goa and Panjim.

Thanks to Marquis for an awesome stay - will return there anytime we go to Goa again - simply fabulous.

Room Tip: Opt for the partial sea facing rooms. The deluxe category and the luxury category are exactly simila...

Returned to this Hotel in January 2012 .... second visit to this hotel. We had been in Goa for a month and travelled around from North to South. We have been going to Goa for the last 12 years and know nearly every hotel! PLEASE believe me when i say that most of the hotels in Goa are not that good and we have nearly always had to move when on a package deal! We have been getting flight only for the past 3 years and staying at accommodation that we know we can trust and rely on being the better ones. The Marquis has changed a lot since last year ( it was great then - but now it is absolutely out of this world ) New reception area is larger and staff are attentive. Simon the manager is very helpful and friendly - he takes time to talk to guests and wants everyone to enjoy their stay. Peter the assistant manager really went out of his way to make us welcome and on turning up for our last ten days we had a magnificent room ( which we were able to choose from ) overlooking the fields. Some rooms have pool view or the 'new block' is side road facing .... the rooms have to be seen to be believed. Very clean, the beds are to die for - choice of pillows and plasma t.v. - coffee & tea facilities - plenty of wardrobe space. Cleaned every day by lovely room boys that can not do enough for you.
They had just had new tables and chairs and sunbeds around the gorgeous pool .... also new multi-position sunbeds with head rests. The gardens are spotless and lead down to the beach area which has improved now the River Princess ship has now gone. You can also have sunbeds on the grass right to the edge of the beach but within the grounds ... lovely breeze and there are beach shacks either side that you can go for a snack or drink and sit for ages just relaxing in. The food is so good in the Marquis though you may just want to eat here and nowhere else! All the meals here are cooked to a high standard and the service is spot on. There are also 'themed' evenings with live acts and you can have meals around the pool whilst watching. All in all the Marquis made the last 10 days of our month the best!! Big thanks again to Simon the assistant manager ..... we are booking for a month again this Dec and will be returning! This in our opinion is the best hotel you will ever find in the Candolim area .... if you are thinking of staying here don't hesitate!!

Room Tip: room 208 was good
