The websites claimed it is a 3 Star facility, I believed.....until I experienced....it was lousy. The hotel staff is not friendly, there are too many issues... no hot water, ACs not working, to name a few. I stayed in the Suite and also in the Villa....but nothing really changed. The food was not that great, you walk a bit on the road and eat at Bob's Inn ....which is far better than the quality served inside the hotel. I would rate food 1 out of 5!! It does not justify the 3 Star tag at all ....it should be a 1.5 star at max!!

Hotel from the outside looks great... The pool was fantastic and very clean - maybe a few tiles that need replacing - but can live with that...
The rooms are very old need major updating
- no difference between smoking and non-smoking
- airconditioning unit was very load (like in most places)
- when walking in there's always was a stale/damp smell
- bathrooms also need updating - window would not close and no shelf to put toothbrush.
- staff are very friendly and polite makes up for the bad rooms
-need a tour - take a taxi right out the hotel the driver will take you anywhere you want and even a tour if you request...
overall - if you just want to sleep and can handle the smell ok - if not pay a little extra and find something a bit cleaner.

Just back from goa. It was a nice stay at sonesta inns. But, my stay would have been fantastic, if
1)I could have seen SMILE in reception staff faces
2)I could have got more hot water(They have only Solar water heater system which is not useful in monsoon days)
3)my wife could use the beauty parlor inside the resort
4)I could have gone for a Ayurveda massage inside the resort(they will ask u to go to near by massage center, if u check with them)

Just returned from Goa...

Stayed at the Sonesta... A really nice place to be at... But it has it's shortcomings...

Let's start at the front-office (reception, whatever you might call it)... Not a smile on their faces... I was shocked... They don't even wish you... Not that I expected it... But even the staff at a 2-Starrer or a 1-Starrer does it... Maybe they don't feel the need to... Maybe 'Young Singles' are offered a different treatment, for the same price...

Moving on... I had specifically requested for a Suite on the 1st floor... I was told that depending on the availability I would be given one... But I wasn't... I thought that all the suites are booked... It was only in the evening that I realised that there were 2 Suites unoccupied next to the one I was given, both on the first floor...

Another issue... Would not recommend staying here anytime between June to September... Basically when it rains... There was no hot-water for all three days during my stay there... I was politely told that the solar heater does not work in overcast and cloudy conditions... Duh... I know that... But what the hell... Have you every stayed at a hotel/resort that does not provide hot-water??? I haven't... They solved the problem by having the house-keeping boys bring hot-water in a bucket once a day to the room... That was neither sufficient, nor was it hot, lukewarm was more like it... If you want to bathe more that once a day, then God save you when its off-season at the Sonesta...

Now coming to the bathroom/toilet... No exhaust fans... That explains it all...

Frequent power cuts... A television that made a noise as though something was being fried on it... A remote that did not work at all... Terrible breakfast (comes with the package)...

Those were some of the minor issues....

The small changes that can make the differences are:
1. A slightly friendlier front-office staff... (That's not too diffcult)
2. Hot water even during off-season... (I agree that water heaters in the room pose a safety risk, but if there's another way around then please go ahead)
3. An exhaust fan in the bathroom would really go a long way... (Come on guys)
4. A Generator, or some sort of backup power-supply... (Not too far-fetched for a resort of Sonesta's calibre)

I choose to overlook the TV/Remote/Breakfast/ and other small insignificant annoyances...

If the above four are taken care of, then it would be just great... A really lovely place to be at...

Everything else was splendid... The rest of the staff was very helpful and courteous.... Room service was very prompt... The suite was cleaned every morning... They make sure it's as good as new everyday... Kudos to the room-service and the house-keeping staff... Really appreciate the effort that they put in...

Notwithstanding the issues that I had, I still chose to give it a 4-star rating, in the hope that they make the small changes... The four-stars are for the ambience, room-service, house-keeping, proximity to the beach...

I have just returned from a week at the Sonesta Inns, and would definitely recommend this Hotel, I have stayed in Goa before, and feel this is of a good standard. The rooms were cleaned every day, plenty of hot water, and the pool area and gardens that lead to the beach were beautifly kept.

I would advise against eating and drinking in the Hotel, The food was very good but pricey by Goan standards.

Peaple had recommended Floyds Shack to us, which is the first one you come to as you arrive at the beach, take time to walk to some of the others, as I found them rude and the service poor.

Only down side of the location is you need a taxi to get anywhere, especially at night, but you can't have everything :o)

I would still go back.
