“Rising Waves Guest House = The Best”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Hello Everyone

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Rising Wave Guest House at Condolim Goa India, The rooms are nice and convenient and well decorated all rooms are AC, with cooking facility and facilitated with refrigerator, toaster, cutleries and crockeries and beautiful ambiance and my family enjoyed the stay at Rising Wave Guest House and frankly speaking we are planning again to visit Goa only for Rising Wave Guest House.

I would like to congratulate Tony the mentor of Rising Wave to provide all short support to our group since our arrival to Goa till departure, and all the staff members of Rising Wave, they are just beautiful minded & spreads their blossom all the way to our trip. Thanks Rising Wave.

We stayed at this guest house for nearly three weeks and found it to be excellent.
The rooms were air/con and bedding was changed every second day.It is a five minute
walk from the the beach but after there fantastic breakfast we needed the walk.
We found the other guests to be long term stayers that enjoyed evening drinks,
always a good sign of a friendly place. The lady that deals with the check in is
great and checks everything is ok on a regular basis. The staff are great
and i want to thank rabbi and shanka for making our holiday special.
We will return and hope, we can once again stay in here.

we have been traveling to Goa now for the last 11 years, visiting on average twice a year. We have stayed in many different guest houses and apartments. I must say that the quality and cleanliness of the rooms at the Rising wave have to come at the top of the list.
the room boys were exceptional and very very trustworthy. We would highly recommend the Rising Wave. if there was a down side to the apartments, it would be that there is no pool for taking a cooling dip in when you get back from the beach, however the wide shaded balcony at the rear with its wicker chairs to sit and relax in are a really nice touch.

Room Tip: All rooms face onto the main road, and all have access to the shared rear balcony to relax on

We stayed at Rising Wave for 3 days over Christmas and had 2 rooms. One room was a suite with a kitchenette, room no 107 & the other was regular room, no 113.

The Good
As apparent from the other reviews, the rooms are pretty good & clean despite the building looking a bit run down from the outside. Both the rooms were clean, had ACs though the regular room was a bit cramped given that it had a full sized refrigerator & 4 chairs, 2 tables plus a double bed. The bathrooms were good sized & clean (absolutely critical). The suite has a kitchen with a gas hob, refrigerator, toaster, kettle & basic utensils. And its about 5-7 minute walk to the beach.

The Bad
When we reached the hotel at 12 45 PM, one of the rooms wasn’t ready though check-in is at 12 PM and they asked us to wait a bit. The lady appeared to have been taken by surprise when we arrived though we’d spoken to her just an hour before to confirm directions to the hotel. We waited for about half an hour& were glad when we finally got the room after a long journey. But this room, no 113, should be avoided if possible. It is down a pokey & dark corridor which stinks of sulphurus gas. And does not have power back up! Had a power cut on the 1st day & while the rest of the guesthouse had lights we were left in darkness for 45 minutes before the owner could get someone to fix the light in our room. And it was repeat performance on Day 2 at approximately the same time in the evening! Fail to understand how 1 room out of the entire property does not have back up while rest of the place is lit up. And why this problem cannot be fixed up for good at one go instead of being left in darkness for a 2nd day & the guests having to coordinate with the manager to get the problem fixed!

The Ugly
Our non suite room, i.e room 113, was not a suite yet it had a refrigerator, a toaster & some basic crockery. During checkout we discovered that this room was also suppose to have an electric kettle. Since there is no list of appliances in the room & the lady at check-in didn’t tell us about it either we were taken aback when the staff on check out suggested that we had stolen the kettle!!! Fortunately or unfortunately we always carry a travel kettle on journeys, hence didn’t have any need to ask for a kettle during check in (which would have saved us heartburn later) But the whole episode on checkout left a bitter taste especially since they refused to believe us that there was no kettle in the room to start with. Anyhow we offered them to check our bags where they just found our kettle which was half the size of their kettle. The room was occupied by some relative of staff member when we checked in, hence there was a delay at check in. And they they didn’t bother checking with that person in case he had mistakenly “packed it in his luggage”

All in all it was an extremely unpleasant end to a good holiday but with some important lessons being learnt. Having always stayed in hotels, learnt that guest houses are not professional. So one should always check all the facilities before check in so that you are not blamed for something as ludicrous stealing a kettle.

We stayed at these apartments for three weeks and found them to be very comforable with really good thick mattresses on the beds, they are kept very clean by the lovely room boys who will go out of their way to help you, very good fridge freezer, kettle toaster, cooking hob and hairdryer, great shower room, only downside for me was it could be a little noisy ,not good if you are looking for a tranquil setting, but otherwise excellent.

Stayed at the Rising Waves guest house from the 20/11/12 till the 5/12/12, we arrived in the early hours of the morning and was met by the night porter, he showed us to room 106, the room was large with a lovely queen size bed, this was very comfy, the rest of the room was very well furnished, the kitchen was well kept with kettle and toaster, plates and knifes and forks, pots and pans. This is really a great appartment, it was cleaned every day and bed linen changed every other day, we had a couple of meals downstairs in the restaurant and the food was lovely, this guest house looks very shabby from the main road however once inside it is lovely so dont let the outside of the building put you off. We had a very comfortable stay at the Rising waves and will be back next year.
