“The Best Time of our Lives”
Reviewed May 4, 2011

One of the best times of our lives was spent at this small boutique hotel in Candolim Goa. Our group of 7 people converged at Casa Candolim to celebrate our anniversary. We were meeting collectively after years. This hotel provided the perfect location for us to celebrate this special occasion. The beach starts just across the road and we specially recommend Bonos Beach shack who take special care for Casa guests. Restaurants close to the hotel include Inferno (Goan food ), Club Fresh, a night club/bar, Chocolati for light snacks, coffee and cake and Angara for Indian Food. The weather was a bit hot for March but we do advise that you do what the Goans do, Siesta in the afternoon, a walk on the beach to see the sunset and then head for dinner. Fortunately the beach close to the hotel is nice, quite and clean. Do visit Snip, a great spa and Balinese Deep Tissue massage was awesome. Through this review we would like to offer our thanks and appreciation for the unbelievable hospitality and kindness that the hosts Sumir & Suvidha showed us. This will not be forgotten. Even though we would have loved to keep this our little group's secret, I know we will be recommending and talking about your place for years to come. Thanks All. Still can't forget the lovely omelets, been trying to get my wife to make the same :)

We have stayed in a variety of hotels in Goa, north and south, ranging from boutique to 5 star. Casa Candolim is a small friendly boutique hotel in a lovely location. The service is warm. The beach is next door and there are lovely eating places within a stones throw from the hotel. Nothing is too difficult for the staff to organise, be it a car, restaurant reservations, spa bookings, advice on property in Goa and the like. The owner, Sumir Sekhri is a very friendly and affable person.

Room Tip: The 3 rear rooms have better atmosphere.

Casa Candolim is ideally located just a short walk to the Beach from the Beach block rooms. We were a group of friends travelling from Delhi. Casa was recommended by a friend who had stayed earlier. Initially when we started exchanging emails with the owners Sumir & Suvidha we were very impressed by the promptness in replying to our several questions that we posed. The breakfast served near the pool area was really really nice, pancakes, masala omelet and Parathas, a different variety was tried by our group each day. The staff lead by the Manager Shilpa, very very helpful and assisted us with tours, hiring cabs, spa reservations and dinner reservations. The Hotel has a very comforting and friendly atmosphere. If you are looking at a classy resort with frills, this is not the place for you. This place is ideally suitable for people who are looking at receiving personal attention, a home away from home atmosphere. We had such a great time that we have been raving about this place to our friends. I think that the reason why Casa Candolim has been very popular amongst tourists is that it is very well located, very close to the beach and restaurants, friendly staff and a tasteful breakfast. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean and the bathrooms have a bath tub. We were celebrating our friend's Anniversary and the Hotel made a special effort to arrange a small party for us with a generous menu.... all on the house. Thanks you for looking after us so well- Vinita

Never having been to Goa before, we booked Casa Candolim on the strength of the comments on Trip Advisor and the hotel's website. The staff, as other people have commented, were extremely friendly and we had no complaints on that score. However, what we didn't realise at the time of booking was that the hotel is effectively in two parts, about a hundred yards apart. Our rooms were located in the front part of the hotel and had nice views, but we had to walk down a dirt-track to the other part of the hotel for breakfast etc. Whilst our rooms were very spacious, the bathrooms were "very tired" and in need of urgent refurbishment. The rooms themselves were cleaned on a daily basis to a reasonable standard, but during our two week stay, the balcony was not cleaned once. One other area of concern was that our rooms directly overlooked a pond which is a breeding place for mosquitoes- not ideal.

Casa Candolim is very expensive when compared with other hotels/guest houses of a similar standard. Whilst there, we looked at a number of other hotels of a comparable standard and Casa Candolim was roughly three times more expensive!

Whilst we enjoyed our stay at Casa Candolim, their website and Trip Advisor paint a grandiose picture of what I would class as being an average hotel, at best.

We will certainly go back to Goa, the local people were the friendliest we've ever met, but won't be staying at Casa Candolim. It's too expensive for what you get.

We have now stayed at the Casa Candolim 2 years running, and this time was for 10 nights, a week before Xmas. The location is excellent - just a 3 minute walk to the main beach and the beach road which has some great restaurants 2 new ones were added this year coco 21 and a newly renovated Sheetal and also a brand new night club called CLUB FRESH. I think this is a first for Candolim. The location of the hotel is lovely and quiet, with no passing traffic noise as its on a very quiet lane in what i think is a residence block.

We love the welcome from Casa Candolim staff - great Indian Hospitality at its very best. This time we decided to stay at the superior family room in the garden facing rooms. The room we had was excellent - nice and spacious, new bathroom with new fittings and a good powerful shower not easily found in most small hotels in India. Wood flooring throughout - everything scrupulously clean and tidy. a large and comfy bed.

Breakfast is excellent, with freshly cooked eggs to order. I quiet recommend the Indian Bhureji which is basically a scrambled egg with onions, tomatoes, green chilies and coriander YUM!!! Mark my partner who is into healthy eating says the egg white Masala omelet is amazing and a must try is also the freshly made plain yogurt.

We really enjoy staying at Casa Candolim - its like a 2nd home, but with great service!

We have been coming to Goa since 2006 and love the combination of staying in the very busy North and the much much more peaceful South. However our prefered hotel in Baga has become noisy and run down and Baga along with Calangute have become too crowded for us. So last Feb I had a good search of the internet and came across Casa Candolim and its amazing reviews.

The initial contact by e-mail was warm, friendly and welcoming - a great first impression. We travel a lot and always stay in relatively large 4*/5* hotels so weren't sure what to expect when we arrived - and I have to say that in the context of that previous experience we really were somewhat uncertain. However within a day or so we were beginning to realise that we were staying somewhere that was truly unusual and that all the staff led by the owner Sumir were giving us a level of personal service that meant we felt comfortable, relaxed and that we really mattered to them. We were waited on at breakfast - such a change from all the ups and downs of the more usual buffet breakfast - with a perfectly adequate range of food available. Afternoon tea and bits ( sometimes spicey/savoury sometimes sweet) served from 5pm suited us just fine. We'd returned from the beach, had a cooling dip in the pool and instead of making tea in our room there it was for us - and Sumir with plenty of mosquito repellant - so thoughtful.

Our room was large with all the amenities you could want - comfortable but not luxurious. We loved the view out towards the beach just a few minutes walk away. The pool is small but so refreshing when you return from a scorching hot day on the beach. The location is quiet, particularly at night, with the bustling Candolim main street only a 5 minute stroll away. Lovely restaurants - particularly 'Inferno' - providing seafood and curries about a third of prices over here.

We felt at home in Casa Candolim in a way that no large hotel could ever aspire to. So much so that we have already booked again for next year.

My daughter and I stayed at Casa Candolim for 8 nights just 3 weeks ago. Staying there was such a pleasant experience, I wanted everyone to know about it. Sumir (the owner) and the staff including the manager Shilpa(a gentle soul) go waaaaay out to do things for you that you would not expect, and it's just such a pleasant surprise.I've stayed at a lot of small properties but this by far had the most wonderful team. House keeping is done everyday and i have to say i loved the 'Khadi' herbal soaps great smelling. Thank you Durgi( i think that was the housekeep's name)There is a coffee maker & mini-fridge in the room with supplies of Coffee & tea bags you could also ask for Green Tea which is available and not charged. Very surprising & touching are the little things such as mineral water and evening tea & snacks which are not charged even an occasional beer is served on the house.
The location of the hotel is at the end of the winding beach road it can get a bit dark as the street lighting is very poor but strangely we did not feel unsafe walking back at night from the restaurants. There is a huge grocery store just block or so away where we bought some great Indian wine they carry a huge selection. I would recommended Banayan Tree, Sula & Vin Ballet they cost between 4 US dollars to 10 dollars and being quiet an expert i can say they were very good wines!!. They also had a collection of International wines. We chilled and drank our wine every evening. In fact we were given tiny bites with our wine on 3 occasions really sweet :)
I would highly recommend staying at the Casa Candolim the next time you're in Goa!
