We researched and booked this hotel over the net, and I must say that while the hotel may be doing brisk business - Daman being a 'wet' spot in a 'dry' Gujarat - the hotel needs a makeover of sorts.

There was a conference of about 150 plus delegates of a leading electronics company, who were noisy and brusque, with the hotel obliging them with loud music for their dinner. Obviously they were swallowing a lot of the beer and other booze which was paid for by their company and otherwise not available in dry Gujarat, so they were making merry. Good business for the hotel!! At the cost of its other guests.

The banquet hall booked for us (we were one fifth their size) was made not available due to this congregation! But the board displaying our booking was still around when we checked out next morning! But they made 'arrangements' for us about 500 mtrs down the road at an outdoor shack of another hotel! Of course they apologised profusely for the faux pas, but here in India, saying sorry is easy & meaningless.

My room overlooked the pool, which was inviting, and I accepted that in all humility. Nice refreshing and lovely evening breeze. Can't complaint there!

The room quality could have been better! A noisy Window AC became more efficient as its motors 'warmed up'. And that was a bit of a wait! The food in the outdoor restaurant is so-so, no patch with the taste and ambience of Goa! The beach was narrow and dirty, the sand nowhere near white. similar was the sea unfortunately. (Now thats not the hotel's fault really!). The staff seemed over worked and it showed on their faces. Fortunately it didn't take much time at check in and check out! At night, the room service refused to send me drinking water, and I was asked to fetch it myself from the cooler placed across the central atrium! It took some convincing on my part to make them see sense that the guest is always right!!

Being a resort, it's expected that there will be more activity for the family. But the standards here have been kept rather low, so the mindset is obviously of below par standards. The concentration in Daman is liquor, and it's a common sight to see drunken folks walking down the street at night. So many people come from Gujarat just to get their fill of booze on the weekends. As ill-luck would have it, we were there on a Sunday!

Would I return here? No! If I have to go to Daman again, I would look at better options.

We booked this room for 3 nights for 3 families, but had to check out a day earlier. Here's why: the rates provided to us via email and at at the reception desk on arrival was hugely different
they had a party the night we arrived and we were told that the open air cafe was unavailable to us - we had to order room service and were told we could order between the 2 options they had that night: dal or paneer!!!!!! We spoke to the manager and he promised to get us whatever we wanted, which was chinese in this instance. It came from a van or cart and was poor in quality.
The next day we had 'complimentary' breakfast in the open air dining area. You had to see the place to believe it...it was strewn with spilling cups, plates, and trodden food. So much so that we barely ate anything. It was SICK.
Most of all, the swimming pool, we were told had not been cleaned in 2 weeks!!!!! The water was so hazy you could barely see the bottom of the pool, and our children couldn't swim, so we had to check out early.
The rooms though were nice even if the bathrooms were not.
The rates were finally revised to what we were promised but I would never go back.

Booked for 3 nights but checked out after a day and a half as the place was very unhygenic. Well built hotel but filthy.
We were told the pool water is changed every 15 days !
There was a conference on and the place next morning was worse than a garbage area- when asked, we were told they would clean once and for all after breakfast- so we who were not part of the conference had to eat our insipid breakfast in dirty surroundings.
Poor service - called reception on multiple occasions - gave our query - and not once did we get a call back.
Mosquitoes in the room !!!
Thank you but we will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good place, the service was very good and staff were very courteous despite a heavy holiday rush. The kids also had a great time and the DJ/ live music over the weekend was very entertaining. The room was very comfortable, though could have been better, but was certainly not a disappointment. Swimming pool is well maintained. All in all, had a great time and did not need to venture out much as the hotel is self sufficient with good food and facilities

Having read the damning reports on Cidade de Daman Devka Beach Resort the day before we arrived, we were not anticipating a great stay, but as our agents had booked us in to the hotel we decided to go with it. We should have read TripAdvisor earlier.

The check in was charmless. The staff seemed wary in general as if they had been coping with deeply unhappy clients for a very long time. The senior receptionist was particularly hostile and unpleasant.

Our Superior Room – Sea View was as poor as expected. It didn’t help that the coffee table had an ashtray full of cigarette butts and ash. If smoking bothers you, there would be a problem here since guests smoke in the main lobby (ashtrays provided) that rises to the height of the first floor corridors. There was a view of the sea across the swimming pool, but as the beach is grey rocks and the sea the colour of grey slime it doesn’t matter that the window was smeared and grubby. The beach and coast here are possibly the most squalid we have ever seen.

The wifi didn’t work in the room (no signal) but did on one brief occasion in the lounge and was free. The electrics were dodgy and the table lamp in the bedroom, after the attention of a technician (and with the help of one of our own adaptors) was made to function.

The bathroom was primitive and water leaked mysteriously all over the floor from various sources. There were of course no plugs and no hot water in the wash hand basin.

The entire small hotel shook with the deafening amplified dance and pop music from the wedding in the garden. It lasted from our check-in at two in the afternoon until six-thirty in the evening. When the wedding party left intrusive piped music took over and continued in all parts of the hotel building throughout our stay

Daman is famous as being an independent territory. In Gujarat of course all alcohol is banned. In Daman alcohol is duty free and cheap. A bottle of excellent Indian gin cost less than two pounds sterling. The consequence is that men from Gujarat and Maharashtra come to Daman to drink.

Breakfast was a distinctly odd mixed bag. Small plastic cups holding a small piece of watermelon a tired slice of apple, a small chunk of papaya and a cube of melon ensured that nobody overdosed on vitamins. The tea was lukewarm, but the scrambled eggs and dosas were surprisingly good. We ate surrounded by the staff who found the sight of European breakfasting, a morning’s entertainment. Having read the reports about the dire catering in the hotel, we elected to have dinner at other establishments.

After twelve hours we coaxed smiles from some of the staff.

It is a hotel to avoid at all costs rather than recommend.

Room Tip: Try to choose a good room at another hotel

Location : Average
Room : Average
Bathroom : Terrible!
Food : oil spill
service : disinterested
...and it goes on...
Only saving grace is the swimming pool which seemed well maintained. Maybe we spoke too soon as it was filled with drunken revelers in no time. Not coming back in a looong while.

Room Tip: Best Tip would be to look for other hotel options.
