I visited this restaurant on 24th Nov 2013, with 5 friends. We were holidaying in Daman and staying at another hotel. Hotel Gurukripa (where this restaurant is located) is definitely well below par to stay. We found a pamphlet promising an unlimited buffet breakfast for Rs 79/- + tax.
The dishes and menu mentioned on the pamphlet looked really good, and we all decided to go to this restaurant for breakfast on the sunday morning.
First, there was a half hour waiting, since it was totally full. We waited outside till we were finally accomodated.
I was appalled on seeing the buffet spread and the interiors. Since we were a group of 6 we were made to site at different tables. The tables had not been cleared, nor cleaned after the previous guests. We had to sit and wait for the tables to be cleaned.
The buffet spread:
1 aalu sak (a watery potato dish), tasted awful. Had no puris to go with it. Only some "pavs"
Baked beans of toast. Probably the worst I have tasted in my life. The toast was actually toast biscuits (rusk toast) shocking. No bread slices were there. Which came in later.
Egg Bhurji with soya kheema was what was mentioned on the sign next to the egg bhurji. But it was plain egg bhurji. On asking I was told that the soya kheema was there yesterday, not today. The signs had just been kept. The bhurji was again the worst ever tasted. Dripping in poor quality oil.
There was a dish of strawberry jam and orange marmalade. Also of very low quality.
What was most shocking was that no butter was kept. They do not serve butter though it was specifically mentioned in the pamphlet, that unlimited toast, butter, jam and marmalade.
On insisting, the waiter brought in just one teaspoonful of butter and informed us that additional butter will be charged.
Tea/coffee was again limited to 1 cup per head. Additional fillings are chargeable.
The only redeeming factor was the eggs to order. This was actually unlimited. choice of ommelette or fried eggs. Here there was a single cook making the eggs, and a long line of customers waiting for their orders to be made.
On the whole one can call it value for money considering that the cost is only Rs 79/-, but if you are wanting something decent, definitely avoid.
