We had been to Daman recently and had checked into Silver Sands. We had the most harrowing and awful experience of our lives. The rooms are not functional at all, there is no inverter / generator back up, abrupt water cuts. The Manager is an extremely disrespectful man, he has no regards for his guests. He treats his guests as if he is running a boarding school and if u ever ask him for a solution all he says is "All hotels have maintenance problems and you should learn to put up". I was in the washroom when the water supply was cut and the staff said they did not know when they would be able to start the water again. They instead offered me a bucket of water, if this is the state of the No.1 resort in daman i wonder how has it got this ranking?

Also the some of the beach photos of Silver Sands and its building on this site are wrong??? Silver Sands is a very small 1 storyed property. I would not recommend this property even to my worst enemy. Please do not spoil your holiday by staying here unless you want to be insulted by the rude manager and staff.

i'm writing this review sitting in my room at Silver sands resort Daman. I checked in yesterday with my family of 8. Three senior citizens above the age of 75 and the rest of us between ages 4 to 50. We booked four rooms. We're here till tomorrow noon. The expectation we had of this place was supremely high after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, but let me tell you, please do not go by the reviews if you're planning to visit this place with your family or are looking for some peace and tranquility.
Firstly they goofed up on our room reservations, we paid for a higher catagory room but were given the lower one. Nothing could be done no argument or confrontation helped. The lady Deepali who sits in the Mumbai office is clueless about the room catagories herself and very conveniently will just shun you off. We were then left at the mercy of the owner who i think is the one person who is a stain on "hospitality". He is supremely rude, expressionless and has an I dont care attitude. yes indeed the staff always look harrowed and dissapointed to be here themselves all the time.
The resort is very small. Before it begins it already ends. The rooms are not well maintained and have a weird smell. The bathroom's fittings are broken the ceiling is open and you can see the pipes and other paraphernalia above. i'm attaching a pic of that for you to see. And most importantly the water is hard and makes you feel like sticky and oily even after standing below the shower for half an hour.
The pool is more like a bath tub. Very small. but clean.
Parking is an issue if the resort is full. So keep that in mind coz theres some construction work going on outside the resort and a lot of mud has take over the parking space.
The food which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip was the most dissapointing aspect of it all. i'd rate it 1/5 and has no variety. All non vegetarians you'll be distraught when you realise that at the buffet counter only one dish is non vegetarian.
They have a discotechque that plays music till 12:30am and the owner somehow doesnt seem to care that this bothers his other guests. right now the music hasnt begun its 8:30 pm and i'm just dreading what time it'll end. I agree nonetheless that for a group of bachelors, since this place is like heaven with loud music and cheap booze and when you're drunk, who cares about the food. But definitely not for a family or couples.
i'll definitely not come to this place again and advise you not to either... the next time i'm planning on going to another resort named peninsular kalay which is supposed to be really good... i hope this review was useful to you.

JMANIAR, Owner at Silver Sands Beach Resort Daman, responded to this reviewResponded May 1, 2012

Dear All,
I am writing the response to this review to set the record straight.
The revier was a part of a group of Mrs. Josephine who had done the booking. They are repeat customers and know the location of different catagories of rooms very well. The confusion in their case was they had booked Delux Rooms thinking that they are booking Deluxe Plus rooms.
Diplai , our executive is well trained and does not make mistakes. We do agree that since reservations are done on phone there may have been a misunderstanding between the guest and the executive. However at the reception it was shown to them that they have paid for the particular rooms which they are being given and that the management had not charged them wrongly.

She has claimed that our resort is very small. So are our prices Mrs. Josephine was charged Rs. 1750 /- per day for two persons including accomodation in an AC Room and all meals i.e Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner -Veg & Non Veg Both. I am sure that there are very few hotels who would give the facilities which we give and that too at these prices. We agree our area is less than one Acre. We do not claim to be a five star resort. Compared to our prices our resort is value for money.

Recently renovation work was in progress and parking was an issue and the same has been sorted out. We have car parking facility for 25 cars.

Mrs. Josephine had come with more people in the group and we accomodated by giving additional rooms , although we were running full.

Regarding the discotheque, we are sorry that she is one who was wanting to be alone , whereas all other residents were enjoying the music and chilling. We as a resort want to give some good time to our customers and music is an essential part of it.

The ceiling glass of the bathroom was broken by the naintainenece team on the same day and was rectified after the guest vacated the room.

We request all our potential guests to view the services with respect to the prices we charge.
It is our endeavour to give value for money holidays and shall continue in our efforts to do.

Our family visit with week end package with Super Delux Room was not up to the expectation. The fecilities were not as mentioned in the website. The guest services were not up to our satisfaction. Al though we check- in in time, the rooms were not ready and we had to wait for a long time in order to get the room ready. Even though upper room which is of better quality were available, firstly we were provided with ground room but insisting on upper room we got it later. Basic Information regarding the sightseeing, transportation or fecilities were not mentioned at the time of check in.It seems the trainees were still under training and the experienced quality staff services were deteriorating resulting in less guest satisfaction and value which the management has to take care of very seriously in order to keep the standard and good will of the hotel. The staff were quite unpleasant and hospitality environment is lacking. We had to request and wait for long time for an addtional towel in the pool.Nobody is taking responsibility just delegating the complain to another resulting in ultimately gust suffer The guest amnities were very limited. The bed sheets were torn. The A/C and fans were noisy. The non veg food is not upto the standard. The peaceful dining environment is being disturbed by one guy who used to check and control by asking Room Number etc . The work area behind the Super Delux Rooms made the environment noisy. One employee who services the linen, maintanance etc seem to be a minor,The prices of tea and beverages which we ordered extra were rather costly. The area in front of the hotel is not clean. The beach area lights weree not sufficient for the safety and security norm for a family visit.

Room Tip: Upper floors are less noisy

It is an average hotel. The food is bland. There is a guy who keeps watching you how many rotis you pick up. Most of the hotel staff are expressionless and you don't feel the warmth.
The bedsheets are old and faded and torn at places. Almost looks like the sheets they give you in 2nd AC sleeper in trains. People jump into swimming pool with their regular clothes (no swimsuits) and no one stops them. The pillows are almost like stone. Parking is bad. The beach is dirty. If i had a choice i would avoid this.
