We had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant as guests of the chef.
The dinner included everything we could eat, and then some more.
The quality of all the courses was very good and the service was great, as well.

The restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the hotel we were staying at in Chandigarh, quoting it was his favorite restaurant in Chandigarh. Apparently the Chef had been recruited from Italy (at a very high salary), which turn out to be true. The minute you walked in it felt just like a typical Italian trattoria. It was a real surprise to find such authentic Italian food in India, but with a top Italian chef - why not!
You can see the chefs in the open kitchen, with the top man at the helm, controlling his kitchen and the other chefs - really interesting to watch. As you'd expect from an Italian restaurant everything is fresh and there's the obvious long wait for good quality food - which is definitely worth waiting for.
It wasn't a huge menu but included wood fired oven pizzas & handmade pastas. There was an extensive wine list with a collection of wines from Italy and across the globe, all reasonably priced but with some exclusive wines if you can afford to spend that much. There's also a comprehensive non alcoholic section on the wine list and I can recommend the strawberry shake.
We started with pizza's, and our main courses were spaghetti with lobster and penne arbiated, followed tirimisu - all absolutely delicious and authentic, especially the tirimisu!.

during a recent Chandigarh visit, we went to Oregano for dinner. the ambience was good, with an open / italian kitchen. the waiters were polite and helped in choose the right choices for us (we both being vegetarian). the quality of food was average. for some reason - did not feel tasty. maybe part of the problem was that the chefs did not look happy. were visibly sniping at the waiters. I am a firm believer that it is not just the ingredients, but also the intention with which the food is made which makes is good. ingredients were good, intention was not so positive!

Chef Antonello and his team make you comfortable and personalize your order according to your food likes and dislikes. The chef has converted me to being an avid fan of Italian Food. His Ravioli with white truffle oil is a gastronomic melt in the mouth experience. Freshly baked Ciabattas, whet your appetite, for a wide range of entrees and main courses. Desserts cap a fine dining experience. Not in the mood for a whole meal, their fresh thin crust pizzas would satisfy you.
If you lucky Chef Antonello will also entertain you with guitar playing and singing a mixture of Italian, English, and Hindi numbers. This is food for the soul.
Do not miss this delightful experience.
