I had to travel to Chandigarh for work, and stayed in this hotel for 3N 4D from 27th Jan to 30th Jan'13, the hotel claims to provide free Wi-Fi and Cable connection in every room. While booking it was clearly confirmed if they have a functional WI-FI, since i was traveling for work.
The room was spacious and clean, with all the basic amenities like tea-coffee maker, tv, fridge, study table, hair dryer, but unfortunately a non functional Wi-Fi and a non functional TV. On questioning the hotel staff, they claimed that it had stopped working the same morning and should be up and running in few hours and the same was their excuse for the TV. To our surprise, the internet and the cable in the hotel was working ONLY in the RECEPTION area and restaurant. We totally felt cheated. When asked to reduce the rent of the room, since they could not deliver what they had promised the person on the shift during the afternoon hours was the most unprofessional and was not willing to accept the hotels fault, instead he kept on giving excuses.
To add to the already existing issues, the hotel had a wedding, and other functions on all the 3 nights of our stay. and the guests were loud and making too much noise in the lobby area in the wee hours of the night(1am to 5 am). Upon calling the reception and requesting them to ask the guests to either move into their respective rooms or to a different area so it dose not disturb the guests trying to get some sleep after long day of work, nothing was done by the hotel staff. We had to ultimately go to the reception at 2am in the night to ask them to control the amount of noise being made by their guests, on this one of the staff suggested that at 2am we should shift to a different room.
I think every hotel do advance booking for any such events and in that case they should allot rooms to their guests so that they don't face problems like this instead of giving lousy excuses in the late hours of the night to the guest who is paying them for a good night sleep and the services that they promised but didn't provide.
Overall it was the worst stay ever at any hotel and not worth even the single penny spent, the food is average and too costly, which goes without doubt since the rooms are equally costly for a non-functional wi-fi and tv connection and to add to the agony of the customer unprofessional and uncooperative front desk staff.
I will NEVER recommend anyone traveling for work/business to stay in this god forbidden hotel, and if you do, oh please check that the room you have been given has everything working as promised and as per your real requirement. And if you have a good nite sleep on your mind, also check for any events that might screw your good nite sleep.
Except for its proximity for my place of work, there was nothing else worth the stay.
