Its a good experience with The Gateway Hotel Vizag. Staffs are very hospitable especially the restaurant staff. The service was very good and very prompt. Room was well decorated and specious. Overall ambiance of the hotel is very nice and pleasurable. The quality of food is excellent. Nothing to say negative.
A quick mid-week business trip to Vizag led to a booking at this hotel. Arrived late evening, and the hotel staff took about 20 minutes to find my reservation and check me in. Room was quite poky, to be honest, small and laid out to maximise bumping into furniture. However, it was neat and clean, if a little basic in terms of amenities - old 20 inch TV (do they even make these anymore?) with choppy video. Not that I was there to watch TV, mind you! Bathroom was tiny, but clean and adequate. Had a bit of a challenge with hot water to shave the next morning, but everything else was fine.
Breakfast spread at the coffee shop was all right, not too many frills, but most of it was hot and fresh, so good enough to get by. Drinks in the bar overlooking the sea were the highlight of my stay, absolutely brilliant views of the ocean at dusk. Stick to the beer or straight alcohol though - the bartender has no clue how to mix a decent cocktail! Dinner at the Ming Court was the usual "Indian" Chinese, pretty tasty and quick service though.
Checked out early the next morning with minimal fuss. So overall, a pleasant enough stay, with relatively efficient and definitely friendly staff. The biggest plus for this hotel is the location - great views of the sea, and perfect for an early morning or evening stroll on the beach. However, if you're looking for more luxurious stay, there are, I believe, better options in Vizag.
Good Business hotel in Vizag with an awesome view of sea...neat clean rooms, as expected of a business hotel from TAJ ....important difference I noted was the improvement in service levels as compared to my previous visit three months back. STIR, the coffe shop, as usual is the most popular joint there and serves good range of cuisine.
It has great rooms with a good sea view. Rooms are quite spacious. Very good Andhra pradesh food is served. Just opposite the beach and can talk a good morning beach walk, the beach is not clean though.
Excellent location for this Hotel near to the beach.
recommended to have a stroll early morning at the beach, swin in the hotel pool & then a sumptous breakfast the the restaurent. you would be fully charged for the day ahead.
The most misleading bit about the Gateway - Vizag is that people keep referring to it as the Taj Gateway. The service is nowehere near the usual Taj standards.
The hotel was under renovation when I went there, but this does not mean one can use that as an excuse to cover up your inefficiencies. The food (buffet breakfast) was no good, the cheese stale and the walk to the restaurant hardly stimulating, its so far away from the rooms!
The Chinese restaurant is a famous one for Vizag...food there was way too sweet! And they have the obvious tendency to dole out their priciest dishes even if you asked for something else. In my case, they forced down some jumbo prawns because apparently they heard me wrong!
I am so done with them!
