Pros: Large, clean, well-furnished, quiet rooms, lots of counter space, free internet in lobby

Cons: Only two hours of running hot water a day, far from old city, limited communication

Comments: This is a very well-furnished, comfortable hotel, much better than most in its price class (about Rs. 1200/day double A/C). It was relaxing and generally pleasant to stay here. The rooms are large and quiet, the beds are comfortable, A/C works well, and there’s lots of marble counter space to lay out your stuff, a rare luxury in Indian hotels. It’s in the newer part of the city, about a 30- to 60-minute drive from the old city and most of the sights, depending on traffic. Breakfast is included at the decent restaurant, though they’re not clear in advance about what is complimentary and what is not. The restaurant has good food but the waiters don’t communicate well, and hover around too much. The lift was not working most of the time. The front desk staff communicates poorly. There are no signs, and they do not tell you, that running hot water is only available from 7-9 in the morning (and not always then), and that the electronic room keys expire at noon every day, have to be reprogrammed daily, and do not work on the gym door. You have to request a bucket of hot water for a bath at other hours, or for the gym to be opened. The staff is helpful and responsive to most requests, though some requests fall through the cracks, and they may stand around asking for tips. The staff is poorly trained and overly solicitous, doing unwanted things and not doing the things that are really needed. For example, they will hover over your plate trying to serve you more food than you want but aren’t there when you need to bring luggage down two flights of stairs. The gym has a fairly new treadmill, exercise bike, and stair stepper. There is an Ethernet port in every room and they will lend you a cable on request, but I was not successful connecting to the internet this way on my laptop. There is a computer in the lobby with free internet. Overall recommended and good value, but be sure to ask lots of questions, then request what you want and follow up if necessary.
