Had booked the package from make my trip and we stayed in 2 rooms as we were 4 adults and an Infant. I must compliment the staff as they were very courteous and made our stay comfortable. The views from the sea facing rooms are spectacular. . The tour manager also organized the Under sea walk which was a great experience.

The resort is a 5 min drive from the nearby tourist destinations , however the nearest restaurant outside the resort is a 15 min walk for those looking at a change in the cuisine served at the resort. I would suggest that Andaman being an Island, the resort should include some more sea food options in the Buffet plans...

The high light of Port Blair is undoubtedly the Cellular jail and this can be a very moving experience .

The anthropological museum was a let down, so much potential but little effort has been made to upgrade the museum as it looks like it has been kept the same like a 70's movie set...the use of LCD TV's showing the tribal life would be a great addition.
The Aquarium is another let down...as Home aquariums or those kept in big city pet shops have better display. Again, a great oppurtunity to show case the sea life of the Islands has been lost .

I sincerely hope the administration makes an effort to increase the tourist attractions in Port Blair as it would keep tourist for at least 1 more day , increasing employment for the locals as it has so much more to offer.....

The welcome drink refreshes, replenishes and refills any person as soon as one enters the hotel. The lay outs may be rated average. Suggestion would always be to book a sea facing room for a grand view. However, the verandahs are not so big to enjoy morning beverages. Food is decent , preferably order for sea foods (Andaman Fish curry to be precise). One can enjoy the imprint on a rupees twenty note sitting at the food lounge. Room service and other similar paraphernalia are excellent. For sight seeing it is recommended not to opt for hotel service as it is too expensive (unless you don’t want anything apart from royal treatment). Overall a good experience!
I had been reading the other reviews also! But, my fellow travel mates need to understand that the place is very remote and far from main-land. This is an island where tribal people are still a plenty. Also is un-exploited and less populated. Hence, we can't expect a big deal here. Considering the commutation, support etc. from mainland ... FRB provides a pleasant staying experience overall.

Room Tip: Plan some extra bucks and plunge for a sea facing room ...

I spent 2 first and last 3 nights of a full week in the Andaman and had plenty of time to have a clear opinion on that resort.
As plus is the view over the sea and excellent Chinese food. The parc around is also ok. The personnel is polite and helpful.
Otherwise bathrooms are really poor with superficial cleaning, wifi accessible only in reception area with very slow connection, restaurant service speed is slow, salt water swimming pool looks like abandoned.
The soundproof of the rooms is also weak.
Overall a very average resort i would not recommend except for a single night if it well located for you.
The standard room was around 6000 INR per night which is at least double an acceptable price for that level.

By far this is the best hotel of Port Blair. The location is just mind blowing and though its expensive its totally worth the money u put in.
Rooms: I'd suggest u go for sea facing rooms to get the best view of the ocean. The rooms are average with a TV, refrigerator and a decent bathroom, but what makes it sweeter is the balcony which faces the sea.

Food: Breakfast platter is good and prefer the buffet lunch/dinner as it is sumptuous and great.

Places: All places are worth a watch except the Aberdeen bazaar and Viper island
Look forward to: Ross Island and do have a tour on the island with Mrs Anuradha who has befriended all the animals on the island (see her communicate with them-its awesome)

Must see: Havelock island (Munjoh resorts- is the best managed by Mr. Avinash) for snorkelling and scuba diving. I suggest u spend atleast 2 nights here cause this place is out of the world (tour operators normally get u only 1 night here, so do request them for 2N/3D)

Room Tip: Choose the sea facing rooms

Overall, this is one of the better places to stay at in Port Blair as there are not 5 stars there. Still, value for money is not the greatest. I will list the Pros and Cons below:

Pros:
1. Location, Location, Location: This has been built right on the phoenix bay and the sea side rooms provide an excellent view of the same. You can sit at the balcony of your room in night and read a book with silence all around and only the sound of small waves and breeze.
2. Wood Work in rooms: Rooms give you a feel of a cottage and not of proper hotel rooms. For me, that was a plus point.
3. Breakfast: This is one of the better breakfast that you can get in Port Blair. Please do not expect a Hyatt, Goa types breakfast. As compared to other hotels in Port Blair, this is better. The best part of the breakfast is it's location. Right on top of phoenix bay, overlooking the light house, you have your breakfast, which is refreshing.

Cons:
Tariff: They know that they dont have much competition and they charge you every penny for that. I've stayed in rooms with much better services at lower tariffs. Although rooms furnishings are good because of the wood work, the TV, the cabinet etc are all so old style, something which isn't expect at this tariff of Rs8000 per night.
Washorooms: Lets just put it this way, they need to improve them.

Room Tip: Sea side rooms are the best but they charge you extra for them.

When you walk into the hotel and all you can see is the brilliant sea, you are really and truly happy. The location is to die for and the view from both nico bar and Mandalay is great..... The lighthouse, mount Harriet, the north bay and it's connection with the twenty rupee note. You just love that... The tiny bit of trivia and a view to die for.
We also appreciated the fact that we were given a sea facing room.
However, the bathrooms are tiny, the pool is uninviting, tours are over priced and f&b leaves a lot to be desired. Also laundry takes forever.

For the price that it charges Fortune Resort Bay Island is not value for money. We decided to rely on the Fortune brand name and booked our stay here, but the hotel let us down. The staff members are good enough and try their best to please the guests, but the rooms were a real let down. It appeared that the rooms were in urgent need of renovation.
The location of the resort is unbeatable, and with a sea view room you can spend hours doing nothing but simply gazing at the sea. However, if you compare the rooms here to any other Fortune property, you will be grossly disappointed. For example, I stayed at Fortune Metropolitan Jaipur at a room rent less than half of what I was charged here, in a far far better room. Also, the room size is a tad small for the price you pay.
Breakfast was good at the restaurant.
