“Not as close to the sea as their website indicates”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

After looking at their website, I had the imagination that this was next to the sea. Well, should have looked at the map as well!

We stayed in a Deluxe room, and was suprised that it was on the ground floor, with no view. Would have thought the better rooms would have the better view
The room had the tiniest balcony I have ever seen, with a tiny patch of garden in front of it , then a fence and then the road. Unfortunately in the morning the Garbage bins were taken out an placed next to the entrance, which made the mornings at the dwarf balcony not very pleasant - no "de luxe" feeling

However sleep quality was good, really comfortable bed. The bathroom is okay, however I would have preferred to have a glass door instead of shower curtain. Inevitably these become musty, and so were the one at our room

We liked very much the food at the restaurant, very tasty. However put on your cardigan before you go there, they run the A/C to nearly freezing temperatures. We were not too impressed about the breakfast - that is the only meal where we crave some western food, and the selection was a bit on the poor side

Also enjoyed drinks and snacks at the roof top lounge, including chilled Indian wine. Funny enough at one occasion they had no Indian beer..... You can also dine at the roof top, as they put up a bbq in the evening

It is a bit away from town, jetty and sights,. so you will need transport to get around. The hills back home to Marine Hills where the hotel is located are steep.....

Free wifi in the lobby area, however a bit troublesome procedure to get a logon name and password, and also quite often "weak signal" = no connection

In general, a good impression, despite some faults

Room Tip: The photogallery shows rooms with sea view - some of the rooms do certainly not have any views at al...

I along with my wife stayed at Sea Shell, Port Blair on 1st Dec.2013 and 4th and 5th December, 2013, the booking done by Andaman Escapades on behalf of SOTC. The Hotel is located on a higher plane right on the main road with hardly any space around. We were provided a room on the ground floor on day 1 with huge white wall on one side and three walls on the other. There is no view of the sea although the hotel is located next to the sea. A few blocks away is Fortune Bay Resort whose rooms and restaurant have a clear view of the sea. On day 4 we were allotted Deluxe room. There is nothing deluxe about the room except that you can partly see the sea from the balcony. On day 5, we were moved to Executive Room which is identical to the deluxe room but with a view of the main road.

On the first day we had our lunch and dinner at New Light House Restaurant located next to the Port Blair jetty with a beautiful garden around. The fish fry was tasty and food in general was ok. The complimentary breakfast provided at Sea Shell was good. On day 4 and 5 we had our lunch and dinner at the Hotel for want of any better option. The ambience of the hotel is good.

Visit to Cellular Jail and Ross Island, Viper Island and North Bay Island was rewarding. At North Bay Island you can do sea walk, which is an out of the world experience. It costs at present Rs.3,200/- per person only for sea walk. There are other water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, speed boat ride, glass bottom boat ride to see corals, riding water scooter etc.

Room Tip: Only Delux rooms on the second floor have some view of the sea.

Went there to celebrate marriage anniversary.
Location is average, not near to airport or any other destination.
Pros:
1) Awesome Rooms
2) Quality Service
3) Excellent food.
4) Clean

Cons:
1) Not near to any tourist place etc, need a vehicle to commute.
2) Kitchen service is quite slow, can be better.

Overall, a very above average experience.
A cake was arranged for us and was exceptionally delicious, thanks to the team.

Can be a top option if taxi, auto etc is available to commute locally, no need to go anywhere else.

Room Tip: Do not opt for sea view rooms, no need for it, enjoy sea on sea beach rather than end up paying more...

I was on my honeymoon at Port Blair from 23rd to 27th November 2013 and was staying at The Sea Shell. The staff is good and well equipped with the information. Very pleasant and professional. Food and ambience of the hotel is good. Clean rooms and very importantly clean wash rooms.

Due to lack of proper eating options at port Blair me and wife decided to have a lunch at the salt and pepper restaurant.
Ordered a mushroom tikka (good), garlic fish gravy and mixed sea food fried rice.
The sea food was disappointing for sure. Didn't taste fresh at all. We couldn't finish our food despite being hungry. The prices were exorbitant as well.
Explained our situation to the manager who was good natured and gave us complimentary ice cream.
However the dining experience wasn't up to the mark

Port Blair lacks good resorts and eating joints ..thanks for the saviours like sea shell . We did not stay here ..but enjoyed our evening drinks with live music and heavy snacks .
Looking earnestly for good non - veg eating place ..we landed here ..the dinning place was average..but as soon as we reached the terrace and heard the live English songs playing with a nice bar and an open kitchen counter..decided upon spending the rest of the evening there itself .
Choice of drinks are limited..but a beer and butter garlic prawns did justice . Some nice red snapper and a veg pasta arabiatta ( pasta in red sauce ) saw to our dinner .
The live singers sang all our favourite numbers from the '80 on request ...although their accented hindi numbers were dampening the mood !
Overall a good place to dine in Port Blair if Indian food is not the criteria .
Ambience and decor is classy which is lacking in most of the restaurants there .
The manager there told us about their resort in Havelock . We had booked ourselves in Munjoh ..and were happy that we promised him to visit there too for drinks and dinner..and happy we did it !!!

We were put up at Sea Shell, Port Blair for 3 days. We had a semi sea facing room. The view was good. The hotel is surrounded with trees and you many not be able to get a clear view of the sea from the balcony. The room was comfortable. Bed, Bed spread and bathroom were clean and tidy. Room service too was good. The roof top restaurant offers a good view. It's entertaining to sip your drink and hear out a band playing live every night. Hotel also offered Auyrvedic massage as well. They also arranged a pick up and drop facility to the Ayurvedic center. The hotel is located close to Jetty from where Makruzz ferry starts to Havelock. It's worth the money to stay at Sea shells!
