I'll be there soon again, excellent view, great and delicious food, perfect place for a weekend near town, clean and colonial rooms, very good price and qualified service, they are just missing the pool and a bar

Maya Vista is the only hotel located on the only hill in Tela. It offers amazing views and unique architecture. The price is certainly right and the restaurant serves great food. Daniel and Pierre were extremely helpful is providing information on what to see in Tela. The room was fine, but in need of some minor repair. They are currently building a pool. I would like to also compliment one of the servers, Jacky, who did a great job for only having been on the job for about 2 weeks.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the views.

While Tela is a hot, busy town with a somewhat seedy underbelly, the views from the various porches at Maya Vista make it seem peaceful and serene. Set atop the only hill in the city, this hotel offers 360 views (from the white sand beaches of the Caribbean to the distant inland mountains of Honduras). While this place is by no means 'expensive' in the scheme of things, it was the priciest hotel that we stayed in during our time in Honduras. The rooms are acceptable (bed was moderately comfortable) and the shower does indeed have a good flow of hot water. The lack of air conditioning was not a problem despite the extremely hot weather (the hilltop breezes help here). In the end, this was a nice place to spend a couple night but if you're on a budget, I might actually suggest saving a few dollars by staying somewhere else and just coming up to Maya Vista for some early evening drinks.

Perched on a hillside, all rooms have sweeping views of the town and the Caribbean Sea. Check-in was fast and easy, we stayed for 3 nights at $50 per night. Nice-sized double room with double and single bed, tv and wi-fi. The restaurant was also very good and has great views. We stayed on the top floor and it is a bit of a climb---140 steps!---to the street, and another block or so from the awesome beach. The town itself isn't much to look at but the hotel is very nice.

We stayed at the Maya Vista over Christmas, 2012. We had just done a week of touring around Honduras, and just wanted some rest and relaxation before heading home. And this was perfect for us. Since the hotel is built on a hill, the views are the absolute best. And Daniel and Pierre and all of the staff could not have been more accommodating.

Tela is not a very "touristy" town. Walking through town, the market and vendors almost all catered to locals, not tourists. We loved that. It was a hoot to check out the grocery store on the main square (which was very busy). I would say that, if you are after a hopping beach resort, this is not your place.

The primary advantage of being in a smaller town is that prices are much more reasonable. The food at the Maya Vista and other places in town was affordable, as was the beer and wine.

The Maya Vista sent Miguel to pick us up at the San Pedro Sula airport, and he was very welcoming, and very patient as we said goodbye to our friends who were on their way home. It is about an hour to Tela, and luckily you do not have to go through San Pedro Sula to get there.

We ended up eating almost every meal at the Maya Vista. The food was so good and so reasonable, and the view so incredible, that it was hard for us to justify going elsewhere. I will say that, even if the hotel is not full, the restaurant is popular with locals and tourists not staying there. So you may want to reserve an outdoor table for dinner if that is important to you. We were surprised by how the full the restaurant was at dinner.

We would definitely return, and hope to soon.

Room Tip: The hotel is on five levels, which makes for great views and lots of stairs. If it matters, request...

My GF and I went because we heard so much about that place! We started off by going for some Sangria and it was simply the best. We met Daniel the son of the owners (french canadians) and chilled with him all day learning about the country while having beers on hamacs. We reserved for a supper the next day. The food was sooooooo good! Fresh!!! staff awesome place and view is awesome!

Just go!

We stayed two nights at the Maya Vista. Loved the views from our room, the restaurant and the mirador on top of the hotel. Felt very safe at the hotel and we liked the location within the city of Tela (not right on the beach which was fine for us). Only ate breakfast at the hotel...good value Western style breakfast, with good service. They arranged a taxi for us to the San Pedro Sula airport which was convenient (and the taxi driver was early!) Would definitely stay at the Maya Vista again.
