i am an experienced world traveler of mature years, picky on hotels (but not overly so), who does much advance research on my travels, including the accommodations, and therefore is rarely really disappointed in them.
i thought this was a cvathedral campanile from a distance, but it is the hotel in the form of a tower - two rooms to a floor with two balconies to a room. ask for a room on the west side. the views from the upper floors are stupendous of the mountains, the coast, and the lovely mediterranean port city of batumi, a super charming place. the staff is english speak ing and so seeet and kind and will do anything for you. the breakfast buffet is delicious and in a lovely room. the hotel centrally located not far from the sea and the city center on one side and the upscale entertainment section on the other - all walkable. the place is immaculate and the decore is 5 star. the baths are 5 star. it is on a plaza with restauruants. here is the problem. they are a bit noisy in that they play music at night and if this bothers you, it may be a downer, it isn't loud, but it does vibrtate a bit in you room, so if you are sensitive to that, well... otherwise it is absoultely terrific.

I stayed one night for a business trip, an old style building with new decorated modern rooms. Rooms were very clean but very small. No refrigirator in the room. Breakfast included. Located in opposite corner of the clock tower (where is a boutique hotel (more expensive) with the same name)
It's very easy to walk from the hotel to the seaside for sightseeing. It takes a few hours to see all attractions of the city by slow walking.

Piazza is very lively at nights, good cafes and restaurants with a live music all night in the square.

If you are looking for a short economic stay without luxury in a magnificant atmosphere around; Piazza Inn is a very good selection for Batumi.

Room was perfectly clean, and well designed. We loved the bathroom.Staff is very caring and helpful. Very good location, upper floors have panoramic view of city and all this is with a reasonable price.

Period of Stay: 31st December 2012 - 1st January 2013.

Remember that the hotel is within a clock tower. So the rooms are are rather small but enough for a romantic night. Central heating system had a problem, the radiator stop heating many times. So we had to call room service to 4 - 5 times to tell them that heating was off. We were frozen in the morning.

Price is around 150 $ per room. No Breakfast.

Hint for the rooms: Definitely Sea view. The other side looks to Piazza and old buildings' roofs.

It is perfect place for a romantic night for couples. Clock tower has a French Restaurant on the 4th floor. Restaurant has a nice ambiance, limited but pricey menu. French wines are available.
2 persons dishes with a bottle of local wine costs around 150 $.

Room Tip: Sea view definitely...
