Cakes & pastries to match France's finest, decent coffee & spotless facilities. A much appreciated contrast from the usual slightly inept & scruffy charm of the Gambia.

“A great find on our morning walk”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

With an early start and free wifi Caramel's made a great find on our early morning walks! Less than 1km from the main Senegambia strip my Husband & I walked here for a coffee & croissant in the mornings and really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly & venue clean. The cakes & pastries look amazing, we didn't get the chance to visit for lunch or in the evening but I imagine the food would be fantastic as they clearly care about quality and service.

“fantastic little venue”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

We visited Caramels every morning on our recent 3 week stay in The Gambia. It is only a 10 min walk from the strip and well worth walking if you can (the road can be busy so be careful, although we had no issues ourselves). The freshly baked and warm croissants and pain au chocolat in the mornings were great, as was the odd full breakfast we had. The latte's whilst not traditionally made were nice enough and a lovely change from the hotel sludge. A lovely quiet spot in the mornings, with people coming in for a quick coffee or to but some of the fresh bread and cakes, Just in response to a couple of comments saying it is expensive. I think those people have had too much sun and or fallen into the easy trap of getting caught up in the number of Dalasis (nunbers are bigger than pounds)....coffee and pastries for two was about £3.50 (have you been to starbucks or costa in the UK!!!!! it would cost you that for the coffee alone.) With free and quic wifi, a splendid way to spend a quiet morning supping coffee and eating lovely pastries, well worth a visit if you can.
