“A beautiful place to stay in a beautiful country”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

It is hard to know how to describe perfection. Mandinka Lodges provide a spot of tranquility set within a beautiful garden. The round houses are amazing. Luxuriously huge with the best roof I have ever seen. Walking in you are greeted by a massive bed and a sense of calm and presented with the best nights sleep. Diane and Lamin are the most perfect hosts and nothing was a problem. The lodges are in a great position away from the main tourist area and a short walk from the beach. I am thankful that I have found Mandinka Lodges for my return trips to The Gambia. If you love unique and circular places to stay then this is one of the best.

Where do I start. I stayed here for a week June 5th - 12th. I stayed in the house because the lodges were already booked. The room in the house was fine nice large bedroom with nice African furniture the whole house was tastefully decorated. the bedroom had a large fan and seperate shower room, linen and towels were changed regularly. I will be visiting again to experience the lodges which I viewed during my stay. Diane and Lamin are fantastic hosts, nothing is too much trouble you can be self catering or bed and breakfast. You have access to the family kitchen and use of the fridge in the kitchen. Diane will organise any trips and can advise you on anything and will transport to and from the airport.

My Gambian Christmas was made even more enjoyable by the friendly and family 'like' atmosphere that pervaded the guesthouse. I was treated more as a member of the family than as a guest. The trips that Diane and Lamin organised for me were, to say the least, absolutely delightful. It was a most fabulous and excellent way to end he year. Definitely returning very soon

We needed a break from our Hotel! Having both suffered from a fixation with round living spaces for years ie Yurts, Oasts, Gers we decided to stay @ Mandinka Lodges. We had already seen some reviews on TA previously that were +ve.
There is the possibilty of staying in the main house but people probably come here to experience the roundhouses..there is nothing quite like the energy of a circular living space. Diane is lovely and a great host. Mandinka Lodges have been put together with great thought, big beds, great decor+subtle lighting. We know where we can go in future to re-charge our batteries..See you soon maybe...

Well, this was a little gem! Only 5 minutes walk through African streets was the Senegambia strip with tonnes of restaurants, bars and clubs. Diane and Lamin were great hosts, helpful and so sweet. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the house and grounds were lovely. The location was quiet, the breakfasts were great and all in all we loved it. We didn't get to stay in the lodges (we stayed in one of the 2 large rooms in the house) but they look so bloody cool I may have to make a trip back to test one out!

This really is the Smiling Coast of Africa!!

This place is beautiful and quiet and only a short interesting walk away from the main centre. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The owners are helpful and friendly. Many a nice night was spent chatting in the bantibar. A great place to base yourself to explore the Gambia.

Room Tip: There are both african round houses and western style rooms. I stayed in the round houses in the gar...
