We stayed here while it was transitioning management from the Meridien to the Sofitel. Regardless, we had a lovely time.
LATE CHECK IN: welcomed with fresh juice and a room conveniently located on the ground level - a brief walk to the restaurant and the beach!
ROOM: A bit dark, but comfortable and more than adequate. Great a/c, no critters found anywhere. Deck chairs well appreciated.
FOOD: Great breakfast buffet, especially the croissants and poisson cru. Friendly staff at the egg station and OMG CREPES. So spoiled. Birds do take advantage though - you can either be aghast or laugh at their sneaky antics.
BEACH: meh. Loungers are available to watch the sunset from though.
ACTIVITIES: We only stayed one night and didn't get a chance to do much here. We did pop down to the grocery store to discover what the locals eat - it was exactly like what we'd see in the stores at home except very European... and exorbitant prices for veggies. $7 for fresh broccoli?! I guess that's all that could be expected when importing stuff to islands in the middle of the Pacific. Great place to buy snacks and drinks, as well as a good selection of ready-to-eat food too.
We had hoped to find a ripe breadfruit off the tree in the front of the hotel, but no luck. Maybe next time!More
