We ate at Le Carré twice. The food and service were excellent. Portions were reasonable, not enormous as we often found in Tahiti. Expensive, but appropriate for the quality.

We were in French Polynesia (Tahiti and Bora Bora) second half of March and had some amazing and unforgettable culinary experiences, this time it was on Tahiti Nui, winding up our Polynesian adventure, this time it was a French/Polynesian fusion, exquisite and delicate flavors...
Started out with quickly seared, sashimi styled beef with Japanese ponzu sauce. This was followed by poached mahi mahi in bonito flakes and Japanese plum wine broth, wakame, snow peas, asparagus and soba noodles. The crowning experience was the dessert: Polynesian "Snowball" (a meringue ball with ice cream inside!) Moorea pineapple confit with fresh cilantro, home-made Malibu and coconut sorbet - amazing! A feast for the eyes and palate! The mâitre d'hotel of the restaurant, M. Benjamin Maury was most gracious and helpful in suggesting choices from the menu for us and the dishes absolutely hit the spot! Definitely an experience not to miss!

We were there with my wife for my birthday. The atmosphere and the view were good. We could see the beach and the stars in the night. They got a small lounge area where you could drink a cocktail before dinning. Our waiter was kind and gave us some suggestions. The menu was so large that we just took the freshest fish and sea food they got. It was delicious. Many of their ingredients were grown locally. The wine selection was correct and the price too for this kind of restaurant. It is really one of the best restaurant in Tahiti.

The restaurant is on the grounds of the Le Meridien Papeete and we decided to go there for lunch to get out of the extreme heat, and to avoid having the hassle of finding somewhere to eat at short notice.

The place is ideally located adjacent to the lagoon and the resort's pool area. We were one of very few patrons at lunch, but this was probably because it was getting late in the day. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even though they are a restaurant, the pool bar menu is offered as well as their own menu.

We ordered two hamburgers off the pool bar menu. As you would expect, it was an acceptable hamburger with french fries. The dish we ordered from the restaurant menu was a beautifully cooked mahi mahi with other sea food and rice. We also shared a chocolate fondant.

It was quite a pleasant restaurant and setting for lunch. There was no time for us since we were departing the next day, but, given time, it would have been worthwhile trying some of their other dishes.
