“Gorgeous Ghost Ranch 2 locations: Abiquiu and Santa Fe”
Reviewed March 19, 2010

We stayed at Ghost Ranch just north of Abiquiu, NM, and it was wonderful. Our room was in the building called Coyote, a new building up on the mesa. We had 360 degree views of the stunning red rock country of New Mexico. Our room had a small living room and a separate bedroom and bath. Down the breezeway was a common room with a huge fireplace. Some other guests had built a roaring fire, and we enjoyed a nice conversation and glass of wine with them. Our breakfast in the dining hall was fine, and the staff could not have been more welcoming. ALSO, I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND GHOST RANCH IN SANTA FE. It's only 3 blocks from the plaza, and also has the friendliest staff ever. Great bargain, super location.

“it was hrrible!”
Reviewed January 16, 2010

Not to sound rude, but I'm just trying to be honest: This was the worst museum I have ever been to. We drove forever to get there and were so disappointed. It had horrible displays and smelled like dead animals.

“Nice grounds to visit but do not stay there!”
Reviewed October 21, 2009

Beautiful setting, but accomodations have not been updated for decades. Linens were stained and torn. Reservation for a private room made 5 months in advance was not honored. Had to share a bathroom with the couple in the next room. Man had to urinate frequently in the night and missed the bowl! When I used the bathroom, in the middle of the night, my pajama bottom touched his puddle. I was totally grossed out with his urine on my clothes, my leg, and the bed sheets. Nothing much I could do about it at 3:30am.

“Worth the drive”
Reviewed June 12, 2009

My friend and I stopped here after touring O'Keeffe's house in the town Abiquiu (easy 15 mile drive from tour office next to Abiquiu Inn). It was well worth it. The landscape changes dramatically. It's a must for any O'Keeffe fan. Great views of the Cerro Pedernal, (painted many times by O'Keeffe). But the whole area is picturesque. We took lots of great pictures. No time for a hike but there are a lot of good options. A free hiking trail map is available from the visitor's center. The labyrinth is the best I've ever seen because of the surroundings. It's a natural stone, gravel, and dirt layout and is perfect for the environment. Many friendly people were visiting the area and the staff was nice. Although we did not take advantage of anything the ranch offers in the way of programs, the people and the vibe were very welcoming.

“Excellent horseback ride and tour”
Reviewed April 23, 2009

April 14, 2009 visit. We went on an hour long ride and tour by Karen and it was great. She explained about Georgia O'Keeffe, her life and her painting. Prior to the ride she showed the paintings that were inspired by the landscape. Then we rode through the landscape as she pointed out what the artist focused on. It was a good way to see the terrain and views.
The ranch itself is lovely. The rock formations are beyond description.
I would recommend visiting the ranch if you have an interest in geology, paleontology (dinosaurs) or Georgia O'Keeffe. This outing made our visit to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe even more memorable.
