“Wonderful stay at the Casita.”
Reviewed October 26, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed four nights and three full days; could have stayed longer and easily enjoyed our time at the Casita and the Abiquiu area. Our hosts, Jeff & Marilyn were fantastic. They ensured, to the best of their abilities, that we had all the comforts of home; provided very useful information on the area; gave us written daily weather reports and the daily newspaper; and introduced us to most of their very friendly four legged family members (i.e. donkeys, llamas & dogs). The Casita was very well appointed with washer/dryer (which is a luxury if on the road for a time), kitchen, tv and stereo (other than two O'Keefe related dvds, we stayed away from tv viewing), very good selection of books/magazines, nice back patio area, a very, very comfortable bed, etc. We stayed mostly in the Abiquiu area, although we did go to Chimayo for lunch one day, however, many destinations are within easy driving distance such as Taos and Santa Fe; we hiked and rode horseback, on day trips, with folks who traveled from Santa Fe, Taos & even Albuquerque. The decor of the Casita is Southwestern/New Mexican, which we really liked. Although we did a number of all ready planned activities in the area, we could have just as easily stayed mostly at the Casita and totally relaxed and vegetated. Overall, this is a great place for couples or families to stay and explore Abiquiu and surrounding areas or to just relax and get away from it all.

Thank you Tom and Nancy! You both were awesome guests! We love having you here, thank you for all of your kind words. Thanks also for your lovely e-mail after you returned home, we enjoyed hearing from you! We hope our paths cross again either here again in Abiquiu or in Panama! All the best, Hugs from Jeff & Marilyn

“"My "go to" place!"”
Reviewed July 12, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Spent a long week-end at Casita Chuparosa recently with my husband. It was so lovely and beyond what we had ever expected. The soulful spiritual nature of the land and the casita complimented each other beautifully. Jeff and Marilyn are very gracious and have awesome choices of making there place so peacefu and attractivel. The accomadations were great for our needs. Coffee excellent, fresh eggs and jam for the makings for an organic gourmet breakfast! The breeze flowed through the casita as did the light all through the day. Evening spectacular in the hot tub. Dinner on the portal with beautiful sunsets and birds singing. A refuge from the world....indeed.

“A Returning Customer”
Reviewed May 17, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Casita de Chuparosa is a wonderful place to stay in Abiquiu. Hosts Jeff and Marilyn have thought of everything you could possibly need. The casita sits upon a hill, and looks out toward Perdenal; sunsets are spectacular. There are 2 bedrooms, a full bath, living room and fully-stocked kitchen. They supply everything you need for breakfast, including freshly roasted coffee beans with grinder. There are magazines and books about the area, and a choice of movies to watch that have been filmed in nearby locations. For an extra fee, they do accept pets; we brought our horses so we could ride at Ghost Ranch, Copper Canyon, and Plaza Blanca. The beds are extremely comfortable. We made a trip to Ojo Caliente, and Jeff and Marilyn even supplied locks for the lockers! They really have thought of EVERYTHING!
I have stayed at Casita de Chuparosa twice now, and have booked a third trip. What better recommendation can I give than that?

“Unique and peaceful rental”
Reviewed April 21, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Like many others who have stayed here, we wish we had had more than just 3 nights to relax and unwind in the beautiful casita. Jeff and Marilyn have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable - the outdoor patio is wonderful - wood for the fireplace, hot tub, grill, etc. The furnishings and accessories are like you would find in our own home. They trust that guests will treat the casita like home. We have never stayed in a VRBO where the owners were so kind and generous.

“First class accommodations; relaxing and fun visit; highly recommended!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

My sister and our pups spent a fabulous week at the Casita. The accommodations were comparable to a 4-5 star hotel - wonderful beds, linens, gorgeous paintings and decorations, unbelievable views, and fantastic breakfasts. The only thing missing was turn-down service and a mint on the pillow (Jeff - don't get any ideas!). The gourmet kitchen is set up for preparing fabulous meals; we only cooked breakfast, but what a special treat it was! The free range eggs, Trader Joe bagels, organic jams and spreads, and Central American coffee each morning was a special treat. The views from the Casita are breathtaking - Sierra Negra to the north, Pedernal to the south, and dramatic sunsets to the west. The stars at night appeared so close, you felt you could reach out and grab a handful! The Casita is centrally located in northern New Mexico so we were able to visit Chaco Culture NHP (don't miss it), Ghost Ranch, Taos, Santa Fe, and many mission style churches and ancient Indian sites. Jeff and Marilyn are friendly, caring, and welcoming. They don't intrude, but are there if you need them. They have a wealth of knowledge on the area and can help with ideas and suggestions. It's worth a return trip to spend more time getting to know them both. Our biggest surprise - upon arrival we found food and water bowls set up for our dogs in the Casita! Even the welcome mat was spread out for them! "Pick up" equipment and a special container for disposal was also provided. I'm at a loss for words on how fantastic Casita Chuparosa is. We had a fabulous time and hope to return to spend more time with Jeff and Marilyn and explore more of northern New Mexico.

“Perfection!!”
Reviewed March 26, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We spent 4 nights here and could have stayed 4 months! Jeff and Marilyn made booking and arriving so easy, we had lots of information to help us get there and also during our time in the area. We loved the space, the beautiful furnishings and decorations, the great kitchen and above all the outdoor areas. Indoor Fireplace in our bedroom, outdoor fireplace and BBQ by the back, and a secluded hot tub from where we watched shooting stars and sunsets. Very comfortable bed, amazing organic breakfast provisions, fully kitted kitchen, lots of books and films about the area. Abiqui is small but amazing, so much to do here, we felt we could stay for weeks. Sooooo much better than staying in town, here you are close to everything and at the end of the day you come home to peace, quiet, huge views and space in your heart. Jeff and Marilyn have thought of everything, they are there if you need them but there is also lots of privacy, it is really a home away from home. Totally unforgettable experience, that we hope to return to. Don't miss this true gem of a place!

“Doesn't Get Any Better”
Reviewed January 9, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

I wanted a sunset view and a fireplace. I got them and so much more. sunrise views, mountain views, desert views, donkey views, bedroom fireplace, outdoor fireplace, hot tub under a blanket of stars, wonderful home roasted straight from Panama coffee beans, comfortable warm beds, easy drive to Ghost Ranch, the Plaza Blanca - called the White Place by O'Keeffe, books and books and magazines and magazines about O'Keeffe and the history of Abiquiu, homemade jams, excellent wi-fi, and wonderfully helpful and friendly hosts. I could go on and on but read the other reviews - they are all true. I've rented a number of homes throughout New Mexico and this one is by far the best. Really, if you are looking for the quintessential New Mexico experience this is the place. Jeff and Marilyn were always available, cheerful, helpful, and friendly despite suffering from colds while I was there. So book this place. Like right now. It fills up fast and there is a sunset waiting for you out there.
