Thanks to the team at VoliVoli, Mum and i went for a weekend get away and couldn't have been more delighted.
Resort is predominantly geared to dive groups and off resort snorkeling isn't terrific. I expressed keen interest in snorkel outing for next day and staff weren't proactive in finding more participants - had to find someone myself to share cost of outing. That said, had a great snorkel, with a great lady, and an attentive boat attendant to keep an eye on us, so worked out OK.
Great rooms, friendly, laid back communal/dining area.
Would definitely put on my list of return locations. Cheers.

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you very much for your kind review of Volivoli Beach Resort. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay however we seemed to have fallen short with the snorkeling, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I plan on following this up so that our guests in future have a more pleasant experience while on our daily outer reef trips.

Thank you once again.

Kind regards

A remote location on Viti Levu with great views and a really good vibe. We enjoyed a relaxing 3 nights. Stayed in a Vale Balavu room with a view to die for. Food was excellent and the staff were all fabulous. Definitely on our list to go back to.

Volivoli is in a lovely location with gorgeous scenery in every direction and fabulous sunsets. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and located fairly high up which gives lovely views, although means a bit of walking. We really liked:
- the super friendly team
- the delicious food, especially the curries and seafood (try the Kokoda!) and really good breakfast options (ranging from a bowl of fruit to a Fiji-style eggs benedict)
- the fact that you can do your own laundry for a minimal charge

Dives are a bit on the expensive side but the dive operation is really well run and the corals and viz are fantastic.

One tip is that you need to do everything (beach towels, wifi, laundry, dive bookings etc) at reception, so get it all done when you arrive otherwise you do a lot of walking up and down the hill on your first day.

We stayed at Volivoli Beach Resort for 4 nights, in one of the Studio Vales. What wonderful accommodation we had. Each stand alone vale comes with a shaded patio area from which you get awesome views of the ocean and evening sunsets. They also have fully equipped kitchens, two fans and an air con. Very spacious and clean. The grounds are beautifully manicured with tropical plants and flowers. The beach area is lovely too although the constant noise from the diving building (refilling dive tanks) ruins the tranquility. (Although we aren't divers, we figured Volivoli must be a great place to go diving from as there were plenty of people going diving ... a perk for us as we practically had the resort to ourselves throughout the day!) For those interested in snorkelling directly from the beach, the bad news is there's no colourful fishes for you to see; however, the resort does organise snorkelling trips for a $45/person fee. Volivoli has a fantastic swimming pool and restaurant. Food prices are very reasonable and an extra bonus was the tropical breakfast (fresh tropical fruit plus toast) as this came free-of-charge with the room booking. Altogether, excellent value for money and we would thoroughly recommend this resort if you want to get away from it all.

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you very much for your kind review of Volivoli Beach Resort. I am happy you enjoyed your time with us.

At this time of year to be in the warmth of the Fijian sun is not a bad place to be. Thank you for loading some great pictures from your stay!

The tropical fruit at breakfast is to die for and is included in all our room rates now.

In regards to the noise form the compressor, My apologies if this was irritating to you, Volivoli does focus a lot on diving which unfortunately means filling tanks however the upside as you mentioned means if your a non diver you basically have the resort all to yourself from 8:30-13:30 daily.

I am happy to let you know that once the new dive shop is completed (Dec 2014) the compressors will be much quieter as they will be housed in much better insulated and soundproofed compressor shed.

Thank you once again for your review.

Kind regards

This medium sized resort is situated at the tip of a jut of land that commands a fantastic view of both the bay leading to the town and the mountains on the mainland, and the open water. Sunsets are likely unimpeded by land throughout the year (we were here in June).
Reception and the entire staff were friendly and hospitable. Of course this is the Fijian way, and yet the staff remembers your name after the first introduction, and their friendly smiles are always forthcoming.

This is essentially a dive resort, which also provides a few non-dive activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, etc.

Diving is professionally handled, and dive staff are most courteous and accommodating to the guests. Equipment is all first class. Dive boat leave at 8:30 in the morning and dive sites are about 45 minutes out. A light snack is provided between dives and you’re back at the resort by 2:00 pm for lunch.

Meals are quite substantial, and the menu is diverse enough for most guests, providing basic, wholesome dining options. There is a good selection of wines by the glass or bottle, and all alcoholic drinks are very reasonably priced (FJD $9/glass of wine; $4.50/beer). Management and staff went out of their way to accommodate our salad needs.

There is a meal plan available providing three meals/day, which we took advantage of. However, there is so much food offered, one could probably order a la carte, skipping a lunch, or just having a smoothie and still be satisfied.

Accommodations:
The private bures/villas are equipped with a queen bed, two sitting couches, large private porch with two lounge chairs, dual vanity sinks, laundry/washing machine (private clothesline) and kitchen including 4 burner stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, dishes, etc. The Deluxe (studio bedrooms/hotel style) bedrooms (Vale Balavu) have two double beds, and small refrig (no stove). Finishes are all first class, and all units have a/c (likely only needed during summer).

The positives:
Lovely grounds that are thoughtfully designed. Great views of mountains and water. Friendly and helpful staff.

The negatives:
Noise: There are various stages of construction going on in various parts of the resort, so hammering, sawing, and other sundry constructions noises are a daily occurrence (except Sunday). Another noise element is the fact that the owners and senior management have families with small toddlers/children living in the middle of the resort, so the various sounds of young children playing can be heard at various times during the day. This was sometimes an irritant when we were relaxing on our porch, taking in the view of such an idyllic setting. Fortunately these kids are not present in the dining room or in any of the other public areas (beach or pool). Interestingly, this is not billed as an “adult” only resort, as some guests were also present with their own small toddlers in the dining room area.

Best villas to stay: 972-976, for quiet and views. Best to avoid 971,978-980 due to proximity to reception, babies and construction.

All in all a lovely property with receptive management and staff.

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you very much for your review of Volivoli Beach Resort, your feedback is very much appreciated.

I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at, your review is very helpful and includes some valuable observations.

I would like to apologize for the construction noise your experienced, we plan to have the Dive shop beach bar completed by Christmas which will ensure the rooms 972-977 are not effected at all by construction.

It is true the sound of children playing can be heard from time to time while they are outside playing. I hope this was not to much of an irritant to you.

I hope that you will find the time to return perhaps next year to experience all the improvements found around the resort.

Kind regards

I recently spent 6 days at Volivoli with my sister, both of us taking time out from busy schedules, escaping from families and work to relax and rest. I loved every minute! The staff were lovely, remembered our names, remembered our drinks and went out of their way to look after us. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, including the bathroom. Breakfast overlooking the ocean and the pool, beautiful fruit and lovely food. Small and private beach, I did a bit of snorkeling but mainly swam in the pool, swam in the ocean, read a book, and looked around Rakiraki. The resort is planned so beautifully so that everyone has a view of the ocean and privacy, the grounds are immaculately kept. Just what we needed.
