Yodra!!
This was the third time I visited this area in the last 5 years. Wananavu has changed managers but the quality of service and amenities is still excellent.
I am a SCUBA diver and find the Ra area wonderfully located near the Bligh Waters, a Magnificent display of undersea mounts that have an abundance of life. It is a 30-45 minute ride to the dive sites from Wananavu. The dive staff of Chris and Victoria were a great team. They made sure our group was ready to go and showed us some good dive sites. I am a SCUBA diver and this was my sixth trip to Fiji. This place is by far my favorite. When you have good healthy dive sites, you don't need to do things to attract wildlife, it's there!
The menu offers something for everyone, even the pickiest eaters. The breakfast consists of buffet continental and an order menu. Lunch and dinner almost always offered two starter, three mains and two desserts to choose. Didn't like what you saw? You hand the always available a la carte menu. They don't mislabel the food "Gourmet", like another dive resort in Fiji I've visited, it is just well seasoned and prepared food. Don't pass on the Lovo Pit food night!
They offer several room choices and I've stayed in three, the Ocean, Garden and the Villa up on the hill. The Beach front rooms are quite nice also.
In the afternoons you can enjoy a local customs talk by Evaloni, one of the staff. This guy will explain local customs, not just Fijian. Talks about coconut trees, herbal medicines, the guy is a treasure!!
Definitely looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: I like the Ocean View, but if you want the ultimate, Beach Front is worth it. Just enjoy the walk to the restaurant!

We visited this resort for several days before joining a dive boat in Fiji in early December 2013. We had a bure right on the beach (I forget the number...4?) and it was absolutely perfect! We went diving every day with Mere and Keenie and they were first rate! The diving in Fiji is unbelievably wonderful and the dive masters made extra sure that we had the best sites in the best conditions. The food at Wananavu is also really excellent. There is nothing wrong with this place. The only problem is that we had to leave. I would go back in a minute, if given the choice.

The hotel staff are very friendly and the rooms are very well kept. The hotel site is very scenic with walkways around the site, to beaches, and around the marina. Vicky and Chris are great dive guides and took us to some nice sites with pinnacles and coral barrier reefs around small atolls. The fish life is abundant.

We have been coming to this place over the years and it just gets better,on this trip about a third of the guests are returning for a second or third or even more visits.Under the new General Manager lots of improvements have been made, the staff are happy which makes your stay better the food is really good suggest going on the meal plan which gives you a rich choice of needs . We had a young couple from the US he was a personal trainer and ate 5 or 6 times a day no problems plus the two of them mixed in . Father Xmas showed up this year but not sure how he went at 35c temp in the red suit.
The drive from Nadi is easy now as the road is sealed all the way and very good the only thing is you have to make a small detour around a bridge that is being rebuilt.
I will not go thru all of the staff a everybody bends over backwards to make your stay great still they remember everyones names. Its been hot but the way the place is designed it is easy to stay cool.
NOW A FEW THINGS YOU MUST DO
1. Island picnic
2.Culture talk from one of the elders of the local village
3.Waterfall trip
4.Sure all the water sports
5.Have a cocktail made by MA
6.Please be polite ( some people from Europe who live in Suva not so nice)
7.Ok to drink the resort water as the desal plant produces as good as or better than bottled water
8. Take a trip into RAKIRAKI about a 15 minute taxi ride costs about $20 fiji and buy some local stuff the shoe shop in the town has some great prices on summer footwear, also all the ANZ and Westpac bank plus a local in town.
9. Just relax its FIJI TIME.
When in town everybody just says BULLA its really great. The honeymoon Buras are great with private pools but all of the burrs have great views with the housekeeping keeping all spotless.
To ALLAN ,BEATO OUR THANKS
ROBYN & ANDREW

Room Tip: Really the ocean view or if a big group the VILLA on the hill

I have been meaning to write this review and I have finally gotten around to do it. This is the most amazing place I have ever visited. My wife and I decided to get married there January 2013. The moment we got on the island, it was a very scenic ride tot he resort. It is easily a 2 hour ride but VERY worth it. You get to see how the island really is, plus you pass the Fiji Water factory.

From our first meal there, all of the staff remembered our names and greeted us whenever they saw us. Since we were the only wedding that week, they treated us like royalty. Keleni was our wedding planner and did a fantastic job, we couldn't have pictured having a better ceremony.

The room was incredible. We stayed in the honeymoon bure with the ocean view. Just breath-taking. You would wake up every morning and walk out on your deck (with your own personal pool!) and just look at the smaller islands out in the distance.

We were very hesitant at first before booking Wananavu but it was just simply the best. We definitely plan on making another trip in a few years for an anniversary.
