“filthy dirty, lousy, unhelpful and rude owner”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Our room had been incorrectly advertised a mountain spa room, the picture shows a sunken spa bath in the veranda. The bath was in the bathroom, the veranda offered a superb view but had a large coconut tree through the middle. the single bed was a 5x2 feet bed, even though the hotel knew that we were a mother with a grown up son and a 9 year old daughter!! We upgraded to their 'best' villa which cost over Fj$400 a night..
The airconditioning wasn't working so we called reception to let them know then went off into Lautoka to see friends. When we returned some 4 hours later the air conditioning still wasn't working...we phoned reception again and a capenter was sent down! He banged the unit several times then seitched it off and on. It began working again although very noisily the capenter left and the air conditioning stopped again, we switched it off and on still didn't work. Phoned reception again and the carpenter came again this time he wedged a stick behind the interior unit and the wall and announced that it was broken and that the technician would be in tomorrow.
Meanwhile the one fan didn't work, the lampshades were filthy, there were cobwebs everywhere, there was dirt and webs between the slats of the bed, both armchairs were broken and flithy, the was a bottle of shampoo wedged down the bath plug hole, the ironing board was burned and filthy, two of the lamps didn't work, one of the light switches was hanging off the wall, there were no bath plugs, the tv didn't work at all, the remote controls for the tv and the airconditioner were broken (one had been roughly sellotaped). The louvres were too dirty to even touch. There were holes in the mosquito netting.
The technician came after re attaching the air-con unit to the wall he announced that it need a new outside unit and that he didin't have one. He hosed the external unit with cold water and this made the unit inside work for a few hours. He replaced one of the light swtches with another old one and it didn't work either we still stayed another night in that room..
Then I'd had enough, my daughter had paid for me to stay in this luxury boutique hotel for 8 days, my friends had all put money together to send me back to Fiji from the UK as I am very poorly with cancer amongst other things. I went to the manager and told him of all my complaints and explaining my ill health and requesting that I should be having a stress free holiday.
They moved us to another villa with working air conditioning. 5 of them spent 3 hours or so in there having a bit of a clean. When we arrived I saw a mouse scarper up the wall, the fridge leaked, only 40% of the wooden louvres actually worked, all 3 of us got bitten by bed lice..every night for the next 5 nights!
What there was of the childrens park was rusty and disgusting. My daughter woud not play anywhere near it. There is no gym, there were no activities!
I discovered that when a room is vacated the blankets are thrown on the bushes for an airing, not washed! Sheets are changed every other day (whether they need it of not! LOL) .
The free drinks are grenadine and orange squash yuk!! The additives in grenadine and a lot of the orange squashes are banned for the use of children in UK, Australia and the USA. The breakfast was poor, to say the least and the dishes were a miss matched mess of chipped cracked and often dirty dishes, with tatty old plastic beakers for your orange squash. I wouldn't use any of the dishes in my home not even for camping! My home is much cleaner and I do not have any sort of OCD!!
All the other hotels we stayed in prior and post to the Anchorage had also provided free breakfasts and were cheaper and were better, cleaner, beds changed every day, delicious food and no squash!
When I went to settle the upgrade bill I complained and asked for some financial recompense for the 2 nights spent in a non air conditioned room and explained again that even though they had done a 'deep clean' that their effort had been pathetic and minimal and was still disgustingly filthy. There was nothing forthcoming, no recompense, no apology and the young manager Sam, had had to get his manager Arron (who did not once look me in the eye) and he had had to defer and phone the owner Brandon I would never go there again and would strongly advise anyone not to bother. The nicest thing about the place is the swimming pool.

WOW, were do i start....... The resort is wonderful and staff are Amazing!!!!!!

We arrived at night time and were up graded from a mountin view room to a Beach front appartment, room 301 the room was so clean and had so much room the tv had alot of choice as i had 3 kids so they were happy to find a nick jnr channel to watch in the mornings.
We had a free buffet breakfast every morning lots cereal choice, toast, fresh fruit, juice tea and coffee. The staff were always so happy and friendly, the pool was very clean and was cleaned a couple times i was there.

The room was cleaned every day, new sheets on beds, new towels, floor moped as i went in to my room alot during the day and a couple times smelt the disinfectant and could see the floor was still slightly wet. I have never stayed anywhere that cleans your room to such a high standard daily.

It was my 2 girls birthday while there, so we told the staff and they made birthday cakes for my daughters. For my daughters 1st birthday they even got the band to sing Happy birthday to her to my surprise, that was so special. If you need anything there more then happy to help if you ask, as we went to garden of the sleepy giant and instead of going to recption Mere rung us a cab from down at the bar/restaurant.

I had a massage, that was so wonderful i didnt want it to end and my daughter got her hair braided too the resort offers nearly everything other resorts do.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff, my family had the best holiday we loved everything from the food, to how clean the rooms are, how easy it was to book fishing trip and go on other day adventures via taxi to local towns. The fireshow was fantastic too my kids still talk about it and seeing the turtles every day.

I cant recommened you enough to people, i wish i never had to leave. Hope i can save and come and visit again soon!!!!!!

We had the most amazing time at Anchorage. I had booked 3 x mountainview rooms and when we got there were immediately upgraded to 2 x oceanfront spa rooms and 1 x beachside spa (room with spa on deck). Yes the hill is very steep but you only have to ask and someone will drive you up or down the hill, and its no problem. Management and staff could not do enough for my husband and myself, our son & his partner and our daughter, son inlaw and 3 granchildren. We had 2 birthdays while there and they made cakes for both the girls (which i paid for) and they had a band playing one night so sang happy 1st birthday to Sophie. The staff were amazing, Mere, Clive, Buna, the barman can't remember his name and all the other staff could not do enough for us. Massage lady Liku was absolutely wonderful and the guys running splash water sports were really nice too. Our rooms were all really clean and cleaned daily, our sons room did have a problem with bugs on the first 2 nights but a spare bed was taken out of the room & no more bugs. The breakfast was good, all other meals are good especially the fried rice yum. Cocktails at the pool bar amazing. We also ate every day either lunch or dinner at Vuda marina 15 min walk along train track food is really good and cheap. They have a new building with a gift shop & massage/beauty it opened on Friday 5th July it is really nice. Sam the resort manager is really nice & from what i can see is doing a really good job, well done. Our son inlaw is now saving to go back and can't wait we will all be back again and will definately stay at the anchorage.

We had a lovely 6 night stay. Staff are very helpful if you have a problem or question. Free shopping trips to Lautoka a bonus. Pool is clean. Spa/massage room and shop just opened. Loved the free breakfast. Splash watersports run all boat trips from the jetty. We took 3 day trips and the men couldn't have been more helpful. The Beachcomber trip is a must do. Would come again.

recently my sister and I spent 8 nights at this resort. It is a lovely resort.Unfortunately it is run like fawlty towers. We were upraded to a beachfront room on the 2nd floor.surprisingly the room was large and clean but we had no hot water for 8days.Each day we were told it was being fixed.Every day we had to ring reception for facecloths towels tea and coffee. There was no information in the rooms as to how to contact the bar.menus or things to do.The restaurant had menus that were tattered and falling apart. There were times when we ordered a meal they forgot to put the order in or we didn't get what we asked for. Also there were chipped plates and some were not even proper crockery. The staff were very nice but obviously there is a lack of training.Make sure you check your bill as we were charged for another rooms drinks and food.Management really need to pull their socks up.Our family have previously run a 3star hotel in Fiji and I have never known anything like this.management should be ashamed.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
Whilst it appears that there are some areas that we need to focus more on, your feedback will assist us in doing so. The Anchorage remains excellent value for money in its class and is generally well reviewed by the majority of guests.

We had a lovely quick break here on an excellent package. Unfortunately our room was near the top of the resort meaning it was a hard trek back up after any meal or swim due to the harshness of the landscape. The air conditioning was difficult to work out, however these were only minor things. The location and scenery were excellent, staff were very attentive and always courteous and friendly. Our main negative was the quality of the evening meal, prices were competitive however we would advise eating at an alternative resort. All in all we would recommend this resort.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
We are appreciative of your generally positive feedback and would like to remind guests that transport up and down the 'hill' is only a phone call away should you require it. There have been new additions to the Anchorage menu in recent weeks with a focus on seafood and guests can choose from Lobster, Mud Crab, Reef Fish and more and dine at our special beach deck restaurant and enjoy the views across the bay to Nadi and Denarau.

Stayed for 6 nights, unfortunately it was nothing like the adverts on the Internet.
The beach was awful and you wouldn't swim in it.
The room were basic and needed a refurb. Our room had a dripping air con, broken light, mould curtains, and dirty marks on the walls.
The staff were ok however could have been friendlier, Clive at the restaurant was fantastic.
