As our first trip to a Fiji resort I had no idea what to expect & was nervous to be w/out something. I packed extra towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap just to be on the safe side. We were pleasantly surprised to find ALL provided by the resort.

Keeping in mind it's a 3 star resort : Rooms had high ceilings, AC and fans & were cleaned every day.TV is small but has a number of channels, my husband particularly liked the Lotus one I think (24hr movies) as we happened to stay in one day due to the weather. A small bar fridge with a chiller box was just enough to place our drinks in to cool.Bed is king size though quite firm.

Beachcomber day trip took up one of the days, though we hadn't planned for it, we decided to book once we inquired about it with the staff on hand. And we're glad we did it.
Beachcomber resort seems to be more suited to the backpacker, young, single & party type which was not for us and we are glad we hadn't chosen to stay there

The pool bar is managed by staff from the main bar so it's not always manned & doesn't have a fridge. It made sense though, because the time we were there, there weren't many people in the pool who wanted bar service.Either way staff were more than happy to come down and serve.

The pool is open to locals so if it's a public holiday in Fiji you may see a few locals down at the pool and it really gives an authentic feel to the place as you mix and mingle with different people, and it's nice to see different faces about.
The evening entertainment is great as well. The 2 men singing 'real' songs as well as other dancing entertainment etc.

I called reception RE:security one evening for some disturbance that was going on and they responded straight away which was good to see - felt safe.

THE STAFF ARE EXCEPTIONAL - bar/restaurant,chefs,reception & cleaners made you feel MORE than welcome. These people are genuinely willing to help you and we bonded with them during our stay. We were quite upset to leave them and while waiting at the airport, every local that would walk past we would think they were one of the staff we had met - Mere, Buna, Clive, small chef lady, guy always cutting the grass everytime we walked down for breakfast... They made our experience in Fiji an unforgettable one :D

However,my hubby and I feel the management brought great shame to the place. They were at the restaurant/bar area just about every night during our stay, socialising and flaunting loudly about their travels. We were not impressed at all. We would sometimes over hear them ordering something from the staff in a rude manner. In our opinion if you're management and you're wanting to socialise, do it somewhere else. If you're wanting to keep an eye on your business, then do it quietly behind the scenes.

We booked this room on wotif (I'm not sure if I would pay full price?) the room was spacious and nicely set out with a large bathroom and double vanity. The pool is nice with a swim-up bar and beach area to relax. The restaurant has nice views and the food was resonably priced although it is a rather Indian inspired menu. I wouldn't like to have stayed in the rooms up the top of the resort but there was a pool up there as well. Free buses to lautoka or Nadi daily was useful and wifi in the restaurant area made another excuse to go for a drink. Overall a nice place to stay where there is always something going on and activities on offer.

This is my second visit. We stayed for four nights. The staff were welcoming and friendly...and remembered our names!
We arrived on an early flight so waited by pool with a drink. We were given an option of a room upstairs or down. The room was clean and tidy when ready. Did not need to use the aircon.
The staff helped us hire a car from a local company the next day so no need to travel to airport to pick it up. The car was well kept. We went to explore the Coral Coast.

The next day we went for a trip to Beachcomber. Well worth the visit as Anchorage does not have swimming beach or white sand.
It was my birthday so staff gave me a cake at dinner which was lovely.

The next day we went sailing on the Seaspray.

Never had a problem with the hill as all transport picked us up near the restaurant.

This is an affordable place to base yourself and do day trips. The staff accommodated all our requests.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms by pool and restaurant the best

First impressions, when we arrived ,weren't too good..run down houses near the reception area at the top off the hill, had me thinking off jumping back in the taxi..and finding somewhere else to go.after booking in,climbed into a car,for the run down the hill to the units on the foreshore.nice enough units, but needs some money spent on them,a bit of paint inside and out would help, the staff were good, menu is on the boring side, same one every night with a few specials and not a lot to choose from if you were staying a week or more, pool is great, was fairly warm, nice to relax in,but don't expect a drink from the sunken bar near the pool, broken down in every way,not even a fridge or music, have to order if you can someone's attention from the bar about 80 ft away, word of advice don't book here from July till about october..a sugar cane train runs right out if front off the units on the foreshore any time off day,,iv seen one and they make a hell off a noise.a nice enough place on the lower end of the scale,as far as resorts go,A note to the Owner who flew in from oversea,s that day..we were seated as with another family near his crowd about 10 off them, getting pissed, next time take your party else where,we got sick of hearing your drunken yank mates swearing all the time and raising there voices while doing it,for a hr or more it went on,,so your lucky I didn't come over as I wanted too,you had no respect for any off your guests.I wouldn't stop here again.

My partner and I have just got back from Fiji (Anchorage Beach Resort) after several days. The accommodation was very good and maintained with a very beautiful view across the water looking back towards Nadi. The relaxing scenery and environment is just what we needed or so we thought???.
We are two people that just can't put the feet up and relax the several hours, so off to Lautoka to do a bit of shopping. I have been there prior and knew what to expect but my partner did not like shop assistant standing looking over her shoulder nearly every shop you walked into, I mean that they stood about foot behind you all the time. This town is worth the trip and after about three hours back to the resort.
If you stay here, go for a walk along the cane train lines to First Landing, about 1.5 k's, very pretty area on the water front. We also went to Beachcomber Resort, an island about an hour away by boat from Anchorage Resort. Beautiful island and worth the visit, about 4 hours there so be ready to relax.
We went on a day trip up one of the rivers to a village which was excellent and spent about two hours there including lunch and a bit of shopping. Back into the boats and up the water falls through the rapids. Loved every minute of this and on the way back we got onto bamboo rafts for about twenty minutes. The day was really good but the 4hours car trip each way was way to much, so check out travel times.
Shopping in Nadi, interesting and if the tourist police tell you not to go to the local craft market in Nadi itself, LISTEN TO THEM AND DO NOT GO, if you are not sure find a police officer and ask.
Look around for best quality and price then go back and get what you want, otherwise you may end up paying double what you could get for. Allow about 3 to 4 hours.
The people are wonderful and it was great to see the changes throughout Fiji compared to what it was look 8 years ago. They have come along way.

Bula,
Thank you for your review. Indeed the Anchorage is a great base to get out and enjoy the Western part of Fiji from and it appears that you did exactly this. Being half way between Nadi and Lautoka, the Anchorage is close enough to do as much as you can during your stay.
We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
