“Great Budget Resort”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

I was very worried, reading the previous reviews before we stayed here. This is a budget resort. The room was big and clean. There are a few maintenance problems that need to be fixed, but it is Fiji and they are on Fiji time. We enjoyed staying here. We ate at the restaurant most nights, the food was good, reasonably price and good variety. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you to Clive for the dance. Maraia and Lemiki were very attentive for our food and drinks. We had a massage at the massage bure. It was very relaxing. If you want 5 star stay at Denerau. If you want a real Fiji experience this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in an beach front room, this was close to the pool and restaurant, this was a great room.

Very nice place! Upgraded upon arrival just because the room was available. Very friendly staff especially Joe and Buna.
Beach is not ideal, but it more than made up for by taking the trip to Beachcomber which is amazing.
Got to meet the owners who more than looked after us, (sorry for the late write up) and thankyou so much again ;)
Good place for couples and families.

We were so worried about this hotel after reading bad reviews an in pleased to report it was a great hotel. Husband and I travelled with out two small children an there was heaps of room for a porta cot. we had the room with a spa bath on the deck, really big clean rooms, the food is good, kids meals big my boys shared a meal each night as they were such good size (aud $5 a meal for kids) the service was great, pool is lovely and overall a great holiday. We went on a scoopon voucher and were so worried as it was such a cheap voucher but it was great. Vuda marina is worth visiting, the beach house restaurant there is great, good views and drinks. Very helpful staff and the manager is also helpful. Hope this review is helpful

I did not expect 5 star luxury but for the money i paid this place failed dismally. I'll start with the positives

1. Staff are super friendly and will go out of their way to assist you, one of the only things we will cherish about this vacation.

2. Food was cheap and good. Not the greatest but with the standard of the hotel & the prices, you pay for what you get.

3. The owner is up himself, leaves the staff to do all the smiling & greeting yet he can't do the same to the people lining his pockets. What a shame! He's not even Fijian, he's Australian

Negatives.
1. Room was dirty, only did surface clean, very very dusty. I failed to sleep first night, cos of the overwhelmingly pungent smell I called reception the following morning to request that housekeeping mop the room the following day.... Came back from day's excursions to find lolly wrappers from the night before still under the bed???
- it rained that night & the roof was leaking
-spa was full of hair
-sheets had stains on them & pillows smelled really bad

2. After complaining abut the room we were moved to another sub-standard room which had a strong smell of wee..

3. THERE IS NO BEACH

Long story short i think the least any guest deserves is a clean place to lay their head, be it in a backpackers or at the Hilton. I'm not bashing Anchorage but this is the truth travellers have a right to know before they spend their hard earned cash.

Stayed at Anchorage Beach Resort 15-23/03/12 with a friend and we were pleasantly surprised, the room was enormous (room 208) and the staff, well enough can't be said about them especially the restaurant staff. They were excellent, Clive, Lemeki, Maraia all of them really couldn't have done enough to assist patrons.

I personally think that management of the hotel should be held more accountable as staff can only work with what is given and if no inspriration is provided by management then this won't filter down to the workers who in general work 6-7 days a week.

Having worked in the travel industry for approx 8 years in the past I do agree the the place needs a major facelift to bring it up the standard of say "First Landing" but if you are looking for a reasonable priced venue and want to see the real Fiji and the real Fijians I couldn't recommend this highly.

On a side note, Junior, who can be found at the hotel (ask reception staff - our taxi driver and get around person) was absolutely fantastic. He was an actual highlight of the trip as we spent quite a bit of time with him and he couldn't do enough to asisst us and showed us some highlights of the area. Thank you Junior.

will return to Fiji again...it's a gorgeous place and the 'face' of the country the people are just gorgeous.

Michelle and Ines

Room Tip: ROOM 208 was great...halfway up the hill, big and quiet.

Sure its not 5 star but to us it gave us a real feel of the Fijian people not the pretentious prats who frequent 5star properties. We couldn't recommend the resort highly enough for families or people who wish to unwind in a tranquil beach setting. Maraia, Clive, Lemeki and Buna make you feel at home whilst tending to all your needs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the aircon is great and views awesome. The food is great for value and quality with ample choices on the menu. Who cares if the tv channel isnt great for choice, if you want to watch tv stay at home. We are already looking to book our return trip and there are many activities to do from sightseeing to shopping trips, island hopping and the like. So if your after good value for money and a REAL Fijian experience this is the place. So when you get there make sure you head down to Viseisei Village for a Kava session with Nemo and the boys(see Maraia and she will look after you) And if your after a great driver call Junior on 920 2781 when your there and he will go out of his way to help with all your needs and his vehicle is the best in fiji, clean, new and well looked after just like his clients......

Room Tip: We had the ocean front spa room only tip would be if you can get the top floor for views but in sayi...
