“Nice spot”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

I didn't stay here, but walked here from Anchorage resort around the corner to see the sunset. Much nicer position than the former, with a proper beach and a pretty beachside putting green. Also has the advantage of not having the sugar cane train running through it. Bar and restaurant area was very attractive and busy and staff were setting up a beachside BBQ for dinner.
Staff were friendly and helpful calling me a taxi to get back and the sunset view was beautiful. Looks like an ideal resort for families but it is 'out of town' so plan to pay for taxis to get to Lautoka or Nadi (~$25-$30 Fiji) or ride the open air Khan's bus that passes three times a day.

For the price we paid for a beachfront spa bure I had expected a little more. Don't get me wrong, the place was nice and clean just not the luxury one expects attached with a $350FJD nightly rate.

The rooms were clean. They had AC amd a screened in seating area just outside the sleeping room. The bathroom was a bit outdated but all was in working condition.
The cold breakfast had a good selection and we took advantage of it.

The pool area was nice and the pool actually was deep enough for an adult!

I was a bit disappointed in the "beachfront", when the tide was in there was only a small portion where the kids could play etc near our bure.

We were here for a wedding reception and the reception part was 5 star. They started on the foot island at sunset which was movie-esuqe!

After holidaying at First Landing twice before my daughter(having looked around locally) decided to be married there.Having stayed at FL three times myself I was delighted with their choice.Their wedding could not have been more perfect.Everyone from management, kitchen and bar staff, musicians and ground staff went above and beyond to make the day most memorable. The pastor was a treasure and involved everyone in the service.Food was tasty and plentiful as were the liquid refreshments..Joe,Navi,Mere,Sai and Mua were most attentive. The cultural show the resort usually put on of a Friday night gave the wedding guests extra entertainment...it went down a treat. We had about 30 people staying here and from the 2,4, and 6 yr olds to the 70+ yr olds we were all made feel special and names were remembered by staff.I personally didn't visit the spa but those that did( and there were plenty) raved about it.
We visited Lautoka by local bus,mud pools, local villages,Denarau,Whale tale day trip and a 3hr round trip to a village in the mountains above Lautoka.all good times but the highlight was returning to First Landing to laze around the pool in the plentiful sun beds or at the ocean front in the hammocks.
There were a lot of familiar and much loved faces from our previous visits and a lot of new ones we quickly made friends with.Amanda must have a " happy farm" she gets her staff from..easily the best in Fiji.
The food continues to impress...no complaints from anyone...the desserts are divine...try the Crème Brule. If you don't see it on the menu just ask!!
Do as much or as little as you like at First Landing.
So easy to visit ...getting harder and harder to leave!!!

Room Tip: I always stay in the Beach Side Bures for their beautiful view but my daughter stayed in Garden Vie...

We had higher expectations after the reviews. It was a nice place, but is not what we pictured after our arrival.

Fiji staff are really friendly
Main dinner food quality was the best
Plenty of activities
Very kid friendly
The evening music (3 guy guitar group) is special

Large Oil depot on main road close to resort
Not a real large or good looking beach
No snorkel location close
Grounds very average
Only two to three lounge chairs on beach area

We called into First Landing on the day of our departure and I'm so glad we did. FL could be one of Fiji's best kept secrets. It's small in size, but huge in appeal. It's very much off the beaten 'tourist' track being in Lautoka (Vuda Point), about a 20min drive north of Nadi airport.

As day guests we weren't entirely sure what to expect, but the staff couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. We enjoyed a cool dip in the pool and a leisurely (extremely cheap) lunch. The staff were more than happy to provide us with towels, or anything else we required, all on good faith as day guests.

The pool itself is medium in size and beautifully shaped with enough shade, should you desire it. The deck chairs by the pool were plentiful in number and each had their own umbrella & table. We ordered a range of Tapa style dishes which were delivered to us by the pool.

As we were departing (Joe the Bar Manager) kindly showed us one of the 2BRM Villas which were nothing short of spectacular, each with its own private pool.

Overall, FL is a delightful boutique style resort, and one that I would return to in a heartbeat. FL would appeal to those who enjoy the path less travelled and who are looking to avoid the maddening crowds of the larger resorts further south. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Some of the guests told us that there is a restaurant on the adjacent marina well worthy of consider...

We stayed here one night before going on the Nai'a dive boat for a week. They were extremely accommodating, by giving us a day room with a garden view until our ocean front burre was ready. Both rooms were lovely, clean, simply furnished and featured a screened in porch in the front. The food was well prepared and very good. This is a quiet place with very friendly staff and a true Fijian feel. It was relaxed and everyone was very accommodating. We would not hesitate to stay there again for a longer time. It is not close to Lautoka, which is a very small town, but it is an easy cab ride from the airport and to the dock. Their Fijian entertainment was very good with an authentic feel. The mosaics on the walkways are amazing and I heard that the spa is excellent.

If you want the 5 star glitz and glam of the big hotel chains then First Landing is probably not the holiday destination for you. If you do want a peaceful, relaxing holiday and a more ' authentic ' Fijian experience then First Landing will provide this and more. You are made to feel like part of the family with staff welcoming you home on arrival and calling you by your first name throughout your stay. A level of personal service that I doubt you'd find at the big hotels. A big thank you to all the staff who made our holiday so special. Wise and Sai for entertaining us so well, you guys are brilliant at your job and an asset to the resort, you provide so many fun activities that the kids ( big and small ) are kept busy during the day. Rita and the bar staff for keeping us suitably hydrated! All the restaurant staff for feeding us so well, Emily and the musicians for the lovely songs at dinner time. Emily truly has the voice of an angel. The day spa was an extravagant treat which completed our relaxing holiday perfectly.
Thank you so much for caring for us and making us feel at home. We will return.
