We very recently spent a week at First Landing and have nothing but positive comments about the resort, the staff and the whole trip. We booked through Patrick at GoWay Travel and all travel arrangements went without a hiccup. Rosie Tours greeted us at the airport and got us to and from the resort. We found all of Rosie Tours staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable and offered plenty of information about the area. Rosie Tours has a desk in the resort boutique and are very helpful with booking excursions. Food at the resort is excellent and beautifully presented. We ate all meals in the dining area by the beach while watching the ocean and sunsets - it was lovely. The bar was fun and the Mango Tangos were delicious. All staff were always happy and pleasant; the evening musicians were a wonderful treat. We participated in and enjoyed all the planned activities. We had read some comments about repairs and renovations before leaving for our trip and were a little worried about what we would find but the workers kept noise and mess to a minimum and almost everything was finished when we left. The pool is very large and clean. The spa wasn't the most luxurious spa but it was clean, reasonably priced and the massages were excellent.
We would return anytime to First Landing.

Room Tip: We had a garden bura and it was large and very clean.

I left a little bit of my heart at first landing when we left on Monday.

My husband, myself and our three children aged 1,3 and almost 5 stayed at the resort for 5 nights. Our first night was in the apartments in an attached studio and one bedroom. Beautiful views to the waters edge, modern decor and furnishings and fantastic huge outdoor screened room.

The remainder of our stay we were in a garden 2 bedroom villa with private pool. These rooms are huge with 2 bathrooms and plenty of living space. The kids loved swimming in the pool and the surrounding gardens, hammock and waterfall completed the serene feeling.

We had a few little hiccups with appliances in our villa and as soon as we brought it to the attention of the house keeping the problems were fixed.

Traveling to the resort you do like previously reviews have mentioned have to travel through an oil/industrial area. This by no means is seen or effects the image of the resort and the amazing outlook/surrounds once inside.

Next to the resort is a beautiful little marina with some amazing boats/yachts to be seen. A nice little restaurant, cafe and general store can also be found down there.

Swimming at the beach is perfect at high tide and even when the tide is low there are still a few little swimming spots near the jetty. Crab hunting and playing on the sand is available all day long.

What makes this place most special is the staff and service. During our stay we were treated like family. All staff members go out of their way to call you by name and take an interest in getting to know you. Amanda the manager is amazing. She is very friendly, approachable always willing to help when needed........most importantly she was always happy to have a friendly chat.

You can tell Amanda has a good relationship with the staff and the wonderful untouched Fijian feeling that is experienced at first landing is no doubt due to this and Amanda's ability to allow the staff to let their true colours shine.

One special staff member that melted our families heart was JJ the activities organiser. Take the time to read the activities board and get involved. I was shocked by the lack of involvement of other resort guests. Crab racing, fishing, kayaking, cooking demos, cultural demos, kids games, beach walking.....the options are endless and JJ is always willing to take request. Even movies on the big projector screen are brought out if its rainy weather.

JJ also baby sat for us during our stay and spent lots of time entertaining both my children and my husband (fishing) he is an amazing person and definitely an amazing contribution to our positive experience of first landing.

The food is amazing and I had some of the best soups and flavours I have tasted. Rooms are cleaned daily and special messages left on beds and smiles from house keeping are wonderful.

Every hotel or resort has little things that could be improved but when I stay somewhere that has me wishing I was back there in a heartbeat.......I know those little things that people worry about are simply not important and couldn't change my overall opinion of this beautiful resort.

Fun, friendliness, helpfulness, comfort, scrumptious food and relaxation is what first landing gave us and I would recommended it to anyone.

Thank you once again to everyone at first landing. You gave our family an unforgettable holiday and we will definitely be back.

Also from previous review the main pool opened up last Wednesday the 13th and it looks amazing. Some construction work is still taking place on repairs/reconstruction of a large dining area. However this looked like it would be completed shortly.

The staff here try very hard and are very welcoming, but a few months ago the resort suffered damage from a cyclone and there is a lot of disruption as they seek to repair the damage. Whilst the main pool is closed they do offer 2 smaller alternative pools to relax in.
Food was mostly very good, but undercooked fish had to go back 1 night. If you arrive early, do not be put off by the look of the beach, because by late morning when the tide has come in it looks totally different in a positive way. We arrived at 6.00am and unusually thay allowed us to check in to our room, which was a massive relief for us. We were slightly disappointed with the layout internally of our spa bure room although the view to the ocean was very good.
You can safely swim in the sea right outside the hotel, the beach does not have the best sand ever.
If you come here to do nothing you will be happy as long as the building noise isn't too disruptive, but if you like walking then be aware there is nowhere to walk to apart from a nice small harbour nearby.
It is difficult to criticise this place because of the repair work when clearly they are trying their best to rectify damage caused by something outwith their control, and I will reemphasise that the staff are great, but maybe just leave it for a few months while they are rebuilding the pool and the restaurant.

Great management aussie/british, great entertainment, variety of accommodation, private beach and jetty not to mention the foot island! However, the head cook was out of town for my last few days and fell sick i suspect due to poor kitchen hygeine. Check the head chief is there (british)

Our family of adult children and us plus our friends with their adult children went on a relaxing family holiday to celebrate 3 of us reaching our "50th". We had separate self-contained villas with 2 bathrooms each, kitchen, dining area, lounge plus our own swimming pools! Beautiful garden outlook and a short walk along lighted paths took us to the restaurant, bar, resort swimming pool and beach. We purchased the meal package - had 3 grown boys with us!!!! Wonderful idea as you could just choose from the A-la-carte menu. We tried to taste everything during our stay however the favourite meals were repeated! The staff were just wonderful and knew our names within the day, especially the boys who seemed to know the bar staff exceptionally well. We used the kayaks, took a day trip out to an island, the van took us to Nadi for shopping, another day to Lautoka (and waited while we were shopping) and the kids hired scooters and headed off up the mountain. I would stay here again and its safe for all ages. Having stayed at Denerau (which is lovely) and other resorts both on the mainland and in the islands, I would recommend First Landing because it feels Fijian. Other places are nice but you could be anywhere. The spa was also an added gem. We all had a massage on our last day - just about had to carry us onto the plane!!!

we have stayed at many 5 star resorts and many island resorts on fiji over the years but this resort beats them all hands down. traditional setting big beautiful rooms. the best food in fiji without doubt. marverlous is the only way to discribe th food service and location. Amanda the manager was the most profesional helpful manager i have met in all my years of world wide travelling. she is a huge asset to this resort and not only always available when you needed her but made sure she continually checked on all guests and ensured that our stay was not just great but fantastic. Darren the chef and his food demos were a big draw card for my son and he still talks about it . We just loved loved loved the food best in the whole pacfic and we have been everywhere. best resort to acess the other islands for day trips so easy not like leaving denaru which takes ages to get to any where. the resort orqanised everything and amanda was there to see us off , they organised drivers for us to take us latoka and nadi and tthe drivers drove us around and waited for us so easy and you know how much you are up for before you get in This resort is a hidden treasure but should be at the top of everyones stay and, visit and eat list . 10/10 would go back here tomorrow, we will only be staying here from now on great for romance kids and any one looking for a top resort and atmosphere with fantastic food.

Room Tip: all the rooms were great

my wife and i stayed in a bure for 6 nights over new year, its a great location but the drive up to it is no so good because of the oil terminal , but you cannot see it from the resort. teh staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, its impossible to mention just one of them becuse they were all lovely. we did not think very much to the food. in thos 6 days there were 2 barbecues, the food was bland and disappointing.. we had one very tasty evening a la carte meal during our stay. i would love to revisit but teh meals would put me off
