“Amazing food , a masterchef creation everynight.”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

The food at this resort is some of the best I have tasted in the world. The standard of food and presentation far exceeds the price of the product. Darren you and your team are doing an amazing job, I have not stopped talking about the food.Huge selection of dishes ranging from 16.50 FJD upwards.
The location is beautiful but you are a little isolated. Be aware that there is a lot of development going on around in the area, and it can be noisey, but honestly it did not bother us.The boatyard restaurant and sunset bar next door at Vuda marina are worth a visit if you fancy a change. They had open air cinema during our stay. Food is good but not comparable to first landing, but a wifi pass is slightly cheaper there if you are on a budget.
The staff are amazing, Amanda they are your biggest asset, they made our holiday. Noteably John Jack, Jo, Jo anbd Floyd at the bar, Nem, and all the housekeeping girls who left wonderful messages on the bed everyday.

Best Bits: too many to mention, but the staff entertainment night was fab, so much work went into it and these people had already done a full days work. Advisable to book to get a good seat in the restaurant.

Room for improvement:The menbu pricing needs checking, on several evenings me and my wife had menus with differing prices. The accomodation is in need of some TLC, but remember this is Fiji and the standards are not the same as in Western countries. None the less some repairs need to be one and maybe a lick of paint here or there.

Overall value for money I can not fault the resort. Relax into Fiji time and enjoy! I will definately be re visiting.

Room Tip: A ocean bure is great, right next to the shoreline and perfect to see the sunset.

From the moment we arrived until the sad moment we had to leave we were treated like one of the family.
I was reading reviews on here before my family and I came thinking this must be rigged no where can be this good, I was so wrong everything that was said was true.
It was like the TV show Cheers everyone new your name and were the friendlist staff I have ever come across.I have been to many 5 star resorts that were not even close to how you were treated by the staff here ,fantastic.
From the director to his manager Amanda , the head chief Darren who was making us food not evan on the menu just becuase we asked, then came to check that we were happy with what he made after the meal ( ps hope the hand is healing up).The Guys that run the activitys JJ and Choppe were on the ball making sure you were looked after, Choppe was great with our 4 Y/O boy who was so sad when he could not say goodbye becuase it was his day off.( Choppe Musashi says bye, thanks for all your help Mate). Norman and all the wait staff at the restaurant thanks for your great service. And to all the behind the scenes staff.Joe and Joe, Koso and every one else that I have missed thankyou so much for a great time.
The Food here is the best ,Gardens are beautiful ,pools awsome, rooms are great.Any thing you want here the staff make it happen for you, and even if there is a issue with anything they make up for it 10 fold to make sure your happy.
And big thanks to the guys in the band Senta and the boys were listening to your CD right now.
Dont stop to think about booking this place for your trip as you will regret going any where else.Even when we told the hire car people that we were staying they commented that this was the best place in Fiji.
All the best Guys we will be back as soon as we can for our next break in paradise.
From Karl,Eriko and Musashi.

Firstly let me say I would come back here, and what follows is not so much a review as direct comments to the owner. The place undersells a significant part of its offer. The day activities and evening cultural shows are not normally something I would choose a resort for but in this case, they really made the resort. From kava drinking to firebreathing, from warrior and Fijian 'hula' dancing, from snorkel trip to the choir on a Sunday. Wow - money cannot buy the energy and passion of these people. The actual resort though is v tired in a lot of places, and it seems that the owner has not invested much since it opened in 2003. e.g some of the recliners are broken or v old, the ping pong table / bats are only just usable, the snorkel gear didn't have my size in fins. Much of these problems could be solved with a couple of maintenance guys around to fix things up, e.g. improve the beach access from the 'beachfront villas' when in fact there is a rope to stop you clambering over the stones down to the beach. The grounds are an exception to this and are very beautiful. The rooms are also comfortable, beds fine, and the wifi is ok. But why do they run out of home made pastries for breakfast at 0900, why are there birds everywhere while eating food (because the staff don't clear the plates away quick enough and no effort made to control them by putting food for them in another location away from the people). Why did I receive a free trip with my booking to multiple islands to be told that there was only one choice, but then when I insisted on going to one of the other choice, found out it was oh so much better than the 'resort's choice'. It just seems to be unwillingness on the part of senior management to invest in the long term future of the resort. BTW - insist on the oohlala savala island if you book with trailfinders and get a free island trip. The chef, apparently relatively new, is great. Good mix and really well cooked flavours using local produce. The make their own bread and pizza bases plus pasta. Normally the local fish doesn't sound all that appetising, here it does and there are three different fish and all are really good. e.g. Pink snapper on a risotto, fresh greens and champagne sauce or something like that.

We had our first overseas holiday as a family in April this year and chose First Landing for a 7 night stay. Our flights over were great, and we were met at Airport at Nadi by a very friendly driver who drove us to our resort. I must admit when i saw where this was situated as it is next door to some sort of fuel depot i was a little worried. But that was very short lived as when you get out of the car and walk into the property you are surrounded by the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. We stayed in the Royal Villa which was a house with 3 bedrooms two stories and our own private pool, over looking the beautiful ocean. We were so excited and so happy about our choice, our two boys 9 and 14 were over the moon with the whole place, and set about collecting coconuts and trying to crack them open. The food was amazing, could not complain about any of it from the breakfast, lunch and super yummy dinner.
The staff were so friendly and Amanda was just lovely, she went out of her way to get an appointment at a Dentist in town when my son had a mishap with his braces. We did a day trip to Modriki Island ( Where the movie "Castaway" was filmed) which we booked at the resort, it was a wonderful day, although it involved a lot of travelling by bus on very bumpy roads. We loved this resort, everything was just perfect, the pool was so lovely and cool and very inviting. My only complaint was the washing machine in our room, it seemed to have a mind of its own and jumped out from the wall, we only used it once. We will return there one day and relive the beauty of this unspoilt paradise.

Room Tip: The Royal Villa is quite a lot more expensive, but certainly worth every dollar..

AMAZING! First Landing is rich in history & staff are proud of their heritage. We stayed for 8 nights wish we had more. Tuna a joy from the moment he picked us up from airport. A special mention to JJ (our girls miss him & his crazy activities, We miss that smile that just made you feel like family.) Floyd a true talent, he made us laugh & cry( as we had to say bye) the string band, keep playing, you bring joy & entertainment to all who stay. Local bus ride into town a must. All the reception staff & ladies who worked tirelessly to make this the most memorable trip to my family and I. We were a group of 11 nothing was too much trouble, my niece celebrated her 9th bday there it was such a special night. All the entertainment AMAZING.Will be back for sure. Amanda you are blessed with the staff you have, please keep them so when we return we can say Bula Vinaka, enjoy a Kava & sing some songs with them all again. All meals/cocktails fantastic. First landing is definitely a MUST DO for accommodatio in Fiji. We ceebrated our wedding there on the 6th November with a small group of family and friends that travelled with us. The staff were amazing (Joe, Mary) the food brillant and the drinks very reasonable. As it was a wedding party, there were a few noise issues but Amanda the lovely Guest Services Manager made sure everything was taken care of, including arranging a permit so we could let fireworks off on our wedding night. The local fijian people were amazing here and by the 3rd day everyone knew your name (very personalised) Thank you to our amazing wedding coordinator Shalini, it could not of been done without you. To Tuna our guide when we were there, thank you for taking us anywhere and everywhere we wanted to go. Highly recommended for couples, families and weddings. We hope to visit again, this time just the two of us to enjoy your beautiful resort again.

My wife and I just travelled to Fiji and stayed at first landing resort. We chose this resort as it is close to the island tours and isn't at pt.denerau (you're not in Fiji if you stay there). The food is brilliant (try the mudcrab!!!) the staff are amazingly talented and funny! (hi Chiaka!). It is a very casual and relaxing place, the pool is never too busy, and the gardens are immaculate. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner by the beach whilst being entertained at night is just brilliant! Highly recommend First Landing for a true Fijian experience. Tours easily organized, lots of food and souvenirs at the shop and a top bar! Our brilliant host Amanda and the talented exec chef Darren, we thank you for making our fijian holiday our most amazing holiday ever!! I want to rate this 6 not 5! See you next year, Vinaka!
