“Best accommodation near Nadi”

Thank you Amanda & your beautiful staff for the last 2 wonderful 2 nights in Fiji - if only we had gone to this resort on arrival instead of the Sofitel! We will know better next time!
The beachfront bures are beautiful & comfortable and your staff are outstanding. We only ate at the restaurant at night but the meals were excellent and the atmosphere was so friendly and inviting. It was like one big family get together.
We loved the little things - the warm welcome from Norman, the effort the staff made spelling "Bula" in flowers on the bed on arrival & the immaculate gardens.
We spent the last night in Fiji at your Traditional Fijian buffet and Fire Dance - what a magical night overlooking the ocean. Norm had reserved us a fantastic table right in front .
We had a 4.30am start to catch our flight home and Reception rang us the night before and reminded us of this. They also organised to have our wet clothes washed and dried at 7pm when we got back from Beachcomer & they were ready and ironed by 9pm. Then the next morning, we were packed and walking out the door at 4.30am and there was one of the staff waiting outside our room ready to take our bags to the taxi. In all the hotels I have stayed at, I have never had this happen before unless we ring for help. What amazing service and your staff are so happy.
We will never come back to Nadi without staying at this awesome resort - better than all the resorts at Denaru put together.

Room Tip: Stay in the beachfront bures

The first and most striking thing we observed upon arriving in Fiji was the genuine warmth and friendliness of EVERYONE. From the cab drivers to the local villagers, everyone was eager to say bula and welcome us to their country and share their knowledge of local customs and society. For example, while strolling around the nearby village up the road from the resort, we were invited into the home of a local truck driver for a coffee and friendly chat with him and his wife.
Upon first entering the resort we were immediately impressed with the peaceful garden layout, beautiful Fijian sculptures, and open vistas of the ocean and surrounding islands. The main pool was excellent and there was plenty of hammocks and lounge chairs scattered about to allow for more private relaxation. But it was especially the staff, who were so friendly and worked tirelessly to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, that we will always remember. Amanda and Darren, Joe, Floyd, Ismali, Kimmi, Seta, Marie, Anabel, Margie, Ana, Atn the cab driver, Tiu, and even the maintenance guys, all remembered our names after the first day.
There were 4 of us staying in one of the ocean front spa Bure's and when we saw that it had 1 king, 1 single, and a sofa, they immediately brought over an extra bed, no hassle or extra charges, and left the sofa on the front veranda for us to use. (I've been to big resorts in Mexico where this would have been an issue and not dealt with as quickly). The food and continental breakfast was excellent as were the drinks and we ate there every night of our 6 night stay. We went over to the neighboring marina restaurant for supper one night and were immediately unimpressed with the menu and atmosphere in comparison, and promptly returned to First Landing without ordering anything more than a few drinks.
We did two day trips while at the resort which we easily organized through Rosies. One was the 'Salad Bowl Cave and Village tour' which was an amazing, authentic cultural experience and highly recommended, and the other was the 'Robinson Crusoe Island Trip' which was a little more 'touristy' than we usually like but was still an awesome experience thanks to our great Aussie scuba dive master Louise.
I also have to mention the extra effort the management team of husband and wife duo Darren and Amanda who were very accommodating in helping my wife organize a special 'date' night for the two of us on our final night at the resort. Starting off with a world class massage at the ocean bure, candle lit seafood dinner on the bridge to 'Foot' island, and personal serenade and farewell song by the awesome staff musicians. My wife was in tears by the end of the song and we have never felt so thoroughly relaxed and blissful.
We were all kinda sad to have to leave First Landing and our new friends in Fiji but I'm sure we'll find an excuse to go back as soon we can. Vinaka!

Room Tip: The ocean front spa Bures.

Bula!! Our time at First Landing was fantastic. My husband and I were there for our honeymoon and we were looked after throughout the week. Even though First Landing is off the beaten path, the staff and activities desk were able to facilitate transportation for all the activities we wanted to do, including golf, scuba diving, snorkeling and a booze cruise. A special thanks to Masi, Tiu, Floyd and Joca for their efforts behind the bar, singing our goodbye song and having some laughs together. Amanda, the hotel manager and her husband Darren, the executive chef made every effort to make our week special. We are looking forward to visiting First Landing again to see all the improvements they are continually making.

We stayed in the ocean view bure and it was lovely. There was a great lawned area for our boys to run around and the enclosed veranda meant you could enjoy a beautiful balmy evening without the mosquitoes. It was not as flash as some of the resorts on the Coral Coast but we found it more cosy and friendly. Would definitely go back!

We came to First Landing with the hope of great holiday with our older kids and we were not disappointed. I had researched First Landing on this site and felt that apart from the odd negative review it was a good place, as we were not after a five star hotel or a holiday at Denarau and we also did not want the hassle and extra cost of the outer Islands . Having said that we have been to some of the other Fiji Islands on other travels so feel that we can compare.
We were more than happy with our Bures. We had two separate ones as our older boys were happy to be on their own and our daughter had her own room in our bure. The rooms were cleaned and linen changed daily and some days when we came home the staff had left fresh flowers and messages on the bed. They are air conditioned.
The showers were not necessarily the most powerful or hot,but we worked out early on to just turn on the hot water tap and before too long that would be enough.
We did not do any of the tours from the tour desk but the boys went to nearby Beachcomber Island for the day and we arranged this with Tony who owns the Subsurface Dive shop just outside the resort. This cost $50 each and included lunch which was amazing value as the other option was a tour that left from Denarau which meant a taxi ride there and then $138 for the day trip .Beachcomber is an Island where lots of the younger crowd stay, but a fantastic place to visit if you want to snorkel or paraglide. Both boys paraglided and loved it.
We had the pleasure of meeting Amanda and Darren, an Australian couple who have just (as in last 10 days) taken over the resort and kitchen management respectively. They were very approachable and were both very much present the whole week we were there.Darren even provided a fantastic surprise birthday cake for our daughters 15th birthday.
We felt that the food standard improved over the week that we were there. In answer to some previous reviews...Yes we did have to wait sometimes for our main meals, but we were on holiday and we enjoyed having that time to talk with our kids.
We also enjoyed going to the nearby Marina for a drink and lunch or dinner ( 5 min walk) and they also do food. You have to meet Georgina the main waitress...she has a great sense of humour .
Our highlights were the Polynesian Fire Dance night and my daughter and I had a massage at the Beach Bure. We were also very privileged to have a Kava demonstration in our Bure with Koso and we have to mention the lovely Isimeli who spent nearly the whole week unlocking the boys safe!
We wish Amanda and Darren all the best and can't wait to get back there.

Treated like family and can't wait to go back. The lobsters were superb and all of the meals were very tasty and great value. Special thanks to Joe, Isamali, Koso, Floyd and the band - absolutely great. Did not want to leave and rave about you to everyone we meet. Bula from Alf and Jo Lang

Room Tip: Book the beachfront villa - superb

I chose First Landing Resort based wholly on positive reviews on this website. I was a bit concerned leading up to our holiday as a few negative reviews popped up but I can happily say that our experience was certainly a positive one.

From welcome drinks on arrival to our personal goodbye on departure I would have to say that our stay at First Landing Resort was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Our two bedroom villa was fresh and clean and serviced daily with fresh flowers in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Our private pool and lovely gardens were also maintained daily and staff were always helpful and friendly.

The grounds of the resort are lovely and green and there are many places to sit with a cocktail from the friendly bar and enjoy the ocean view and sunset. I agree with others that when the tide is out the beach is not as attractive as when it is in but it's still nice and the resort can't control the tides. Our children enjoyed the beach and kitchen staff gave them bread to feed the very eager fish. They also enjoyed kayaking and jumping off the jetty. We also had the option of the main pool as well as our own private pool.

We had a breakfast and dinner meal plan that was very reasonable. The continental breakfast would probably be enough as there is lots of fresh pineapple and watermelon amongst the options. The cooked breakfasts could be improved upon. We ate dinner in the resort restaurant every night and tried more than half of the 50+ dishes on offer. On the whole the food was very good especially the seafood. You could choose to sit in or out or right near the beach (some insect repellant is a good idea). You only need to give your room number when you order food or drink so the staff can put it on your tab and saves you paying as you go, they mostly remember your room number anyway - it's no problem at all.

Sub surface dive shop is right near the boom gate entry into the resort. We booked a day trip to Beachcomber Island $FJD50 adults and $FJD25 children. This was a great value trip with snorkeling, great fish feeding and buffet lunch. A day is enough on that Island unless you're under 25! Other tours can be booked at the tour desk in the gift shop. The beauty spa is another way to relax with manicures and massages at a good price. There are singers to entertain you through the evening and a really fun Polynesian show once a week.

The staff at First Landing were always very friendly, polite and helpful - Isimeli, Ana and Koso are just a few of the excellent staff that make this resort run so well. Service at the bar and restaurant was always well timed even when they had functions to cater for as well as the guests. The staff really make this a welcoming resort.

If you like nice accommodation, a relaxing atmosphere and your only decision is what drink to have while you sit and watch the sunset in a beautiful tropical resort then First Landing Resort is the place to go.
