“Homesick for Savasi Island...”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Our family made an unusual choice for what could be our last winter break together alone (kids going off to college, etc.) and chose to stay in one beautiful spot for the whole 10 days, instead of packing an itinerary with educational but frenetic touring as we had in the past. It was an experiment. Would we grow restless and bored of each other and the place? The result: Pure Magic. From the moment the ever-smiling - and infectious-laughing- Ma met us at the tiny airport with homemade leis and refreshing cold towels, we felt at home - but in a naturally lavish tropical paradise. The rest of the staff had assembled to serenade us with cheerful traditional music and more smiles. Oh, and a cold drink in a coconut of course. The rest is a blur of excellent food, cheerful service, sun, beauty, gorgeous coral reef-exploring, kayaking, new but cherished friendships and, perhaps most importantly, a deep and enduring re-connection for our family. The other reviews on this site have correctly described the fantastic amenities and other details, but I wanted to give my view of the essence and joy of the place. We will be back.

We have just returned from Savasi Island after spending 5 days in the Coral Villa which has just been completed. Beautifully appointed with natural Fijian timbers spilling out onto a deck and pool that overhangs the sea with complete privacy gives the impression that you are the only guests on the island. The natural beauty of this boutique accommodation is breathtaking, with your own steps down on to the beach. The staff Ma and Kula greet and spoil you with their lovely Fijian smiles every day. Paul and Gail are building a dream here and we feel privileged that we have been able to share it with them. Dont look for the big resort facilities, this is unique and very private. We loved it. The Waterfall Villa is ultra splendid - very good for two couples.

We were afforded the honor of being the very first guests to stay in the spectacular new, Coral Villa on our recent holiday. Our dear friends and their children we staying in the Waterfall house and it was a bone of contention as to who had the most decadent accommodation. The owners Gail and her husband Paul are truly blessed with not only an outstanding property but a vision for how high end boutique accommodation should be presented and run. Undoubtedly their greatest asset however is their staff. Ma as the host, chief organizer and child minder and almost anything we could ask for was exceptional and we did make an offer to take her with us but Paul would have none of it. The whole team is gracious, unobtrusive but very warm and engaging exactly what we were looking for.

In terms of value for money, quality of service, accommodation, food, this place is certainly beyond compare and truly well above our expectations. We will be back and we will be bringing our friends.

Room Tip: The brand new coral view with wet edge pool is the pick of the bunch, the waterfall house might have...

Shhhhhhh .... this is all you will hear in this magical place known as Savasi. Traditional Fiji captured in modern day life with Top quality lodging and amazing food to make anybody happy!
The Staff Ma ,Koola and co are the most friendly amazing people I have met. This place is not a Resort it's a Family it's the most relaxing place on the planet ~ I stayed at Tony Robins Place next door ( Twice the Price ) this place is so much better in my eyes and I guess it boils down to the people that are looking after you.
I would recommend this place to everyone ~ Very Private ! Very Nice

Room Tip: You cant go wrong with rooms ~ however the Waterfall room is epic

We visited Savasi for an evening meal with friends, and the owners kindly let us have a look around at the villas. It's a beautiful place, the meal was fabulous and the service friendly and welcoming. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The villas are quite different from one another, each very private, with its own character, views are beautiful. The location was far enough from town to be away from the noise and hustle and bustle, but near enough if you wanted to go explore the town. We didn't actually stay here so I can't comment on that and have therefore limited my ratings to the areas I experienced, but I certainly would plan to stay here on a future visit to the area.

There is a little construction going on here today -- normally that might tempt me to deduct a star but this place, and Ma, are so wonderful that 5 Stars is the only rating that fits.

The location is so unbelievable gorgeous. Hell, I live in an island in the Caribbean and I think this place is FANTASTIC.

Had dinner at Namale (also WOW) and a gorgeous run out to the Namale Waterfall this morning.

I am thinking of having my mail redirected here. -_-

Savasi Island is a peaceful, beautiful island and probably one of the most relaxing resorts. The villa was just gorgeous and private. Our own beach and lovely views. We loved the hammock on our porch and the second one on the beach. It was lovely to not be inundated with tourists and tons of traffic. My husband, mother, and two teens loved the Beach Villa. Ma and Kula took fabulous care that each meal was a feast. They provided a birthday cake for my son and remembered our preferences from meal to meal. The food was truly wonderful. My only regret is that we could not stay longer.
