I enjoyed my recent stay at Daku Resort. I stayed in in Bayview Luxury Villa No.1. When I wanted privacy/chill-out time, I was able to sunbathe on my private deck overlooking the front garden and beach, swim in the villa's private pool, pick fresh tropical fruits from trees beside the deck and even cook my own meals in my own fully equipped kitchen. Alternatively, I was also able to use all the facililities of the resort when I felt like it - large pool, dining and bar facilities. It was fun to eat at the communal table, meeting up with other guests. I was able to partake in snorkeling and other trips organised by the resort. The friendliness shown by the hosts JJ and Delia, as well as by all the staff made for a family type atmosphere. The villa itself has 2 ensuite double/twin bedrooms and a seperate lounge, which all open out onto the deck and private pool, affording fantastic sunset views over Savusavu Bay, plus the self contained kitchen. The villa is very private and quiet, yet it is only a 20 minute walk (or short taxi ride) to Savusavu town. I look forward to a return visit.

What makes the difference at Daku resort is the sharing of meals, particularly dinners by the pool when guests can meet and share stories...in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The snorkeling outings are wonderful, as are the many outings on the Island and in Savusavu town, just a short walk away along the beach...and to finish the day, what can be better than a yoga session on the platform facing a beautiful sunset over Savusavu Bay..Thanks JJ, Delia and staff for the hospitality!

We had a family bungalow and that was spacious for the four of us (and had two bathrooms!). Nice seating area outside, but only two chairs in front of each room and they were to big to move so we ended up sitting on to different decks for breakfast... The bathrooms are very tiny but the shower is outside! Great - you can stand in the hot shower and look at the stars, we loved that! Savusavu is approx 15 minutes walk and a 4 Fiji$ taxiride away. The staff is kind but tend to be a little bored? Overall this is a good alternative if you are traveling on a budget. Would stay here again!

Room Tip: Not all rooms have AC - we managed well with a fan.

I am a volunteer with Engineers Without Borders and since 2010, our group of volunteers have being coming to Daku to stay every weekend throughout the month of August, in between working in the villages of Buca Bay. I thoroughly look forward to coming back each weekend to relax, taking a hot shower, and saying BULA! to the fantastic and kind staff!

This year, I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, JJ and Delia, who are gracious, welcoming, and enthusiastic to have our group here. One of my favorite moments was sitting down to a big dinner of 16 people from around the world, with JJ and Delia making sure we were all comfortable and everyone was included. Pure gold! Vinaka vaka levu!!!

Room Tip: Choose a bure.

Daku resort offers a stay full of positive energy, a lovely staff, and guests from all walks of life, whom share many interesting stories throughout the day and during the fun, and delicious, dinner parties next to the pool. The facilities are comfortable and spacious. All the staff remember your name, offer great conversations, and are ready to assist you in anything you need.

I am staying here with my teammates from Engineers Without Borders (EWB). EWB members have been staying here every August for a month since 2009 on weekends after spending the weeks working on water resource and water quality projects in three villages in Buca Bay, and we have always felt very welcome here at Daku. We get to relax here throughout the weekends, and go on adventures in the bay and around town, which is quite a treat before heading back to the villages to work again. We were very fortunate to have met the owners J.J. And Delia during out stay this year. They are great hosts and care very much about their guests. I had some great life conversations with them and other guests.

I recommend this resort for anyone, including families, interested in a relaxing and/or adventurous time full of smiles and positive energy.

Room Tip: The pool house is great, especially for big groups. It has four rooms and a full kitchen.

Just back from Fiji and had a lovely stay at Daku Resort. It's not a big place, but just right in terms of amenities and accommodation. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the resort is well maintained and clean. We stayed in an "Ocean Front Bure" which was nice and roomy with a little porch out front - note these are not right on the ocean, but back from the street / ocean, but you still get a view of the water from the porch which was great. The owners, JJ and Delia were lovely and the whole team at Daku are there to help make your stay as easy as possible, from arranging trips and cabs to organizing a nightly dinner for all to attend. The property has a nice pool, rooms had a fan and / or air conditioning and they picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. Savusavu is about a 15-20 minute walk / FJ$4 cab ride away, close enough to go and have lunch / dinner in town but far enough away to feel like you are somewhere remote. Overall, had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to visit Savusavu.
